The black and lime female dipped her muzzle a bit as she considered the other's opinion and question. As she thought, her own gaze drifted in the general direction that Mvyma's had as if wondering about her homeland. When she spoke, it was in the same gravel-like tone she normally used. "A clan offers protection and a home to return to. Without one, it is too difficult to do certain things." There was no reason to give this outsider her full view on clanlife or reasons behind it. What she spoke was true enough for herself, in the end.

"What certain things would those be?" Mvyma asked, showing interest. She hadn't every really talked to anyone about clans, and now she had found someone that seemed to know all about them. However, it seemed still like a prison, she guessed. She wanted freedom, and clans didn't have complete that.

Despite the other's appearance, it finally dawned on Uchawi that this one was younger than she was, perhaps very much so. Younger, and she had come from... She tilted her nose in the general direction, taking in a deep whiff. Mvyma certainly didn't smell like any of the surrounding territory, and she certainly hadn't come from any place that could support life easily. Uchawi's ears flickered, and she looked back to the nomad.

"Raising young ones, keeping food in your stomach, protection from others." She licked her scarred muzzle, pausing in her own thoughts. "I've wandered too many years to not know that those things cannot be done without the companionship of others. The desert, alone you are only one fighting to keep living. With many, then sometimes you don't have to fight so hard." She left it at that, figuring her own words were certainly enough then. And her tone, perhaps it wasn't so gruff this time though her vocal chords were scarred from use like her muzzle.

Mvyma shrugged as best she could, deciding to let the clan discussion stay like that. They had opposing views, big deal. Remembering the top of Uchawi's list, the vibrant nomad asked, "Do you have any young ones?"

The female's ears flickered, considering for a moment if she really wanted to go that far with this nomad. There was no reason why she should trust her, and no reason why she shouldn't. Her tongue flicked over her lips before she spoke again. "Had, a long time ago it seems. The desert claims many lives." Her lips curled up in a harsh grin when she was finished. Surely this nomad could understand that sentiment. In a way, it seemed from Mvyma's coat, they could be sisters.

"The desert is treacherous," Mvyma agreed, "and is still with unknown dangers." Little ones did not always survive. Those who lacked the will and power did not hold her respect or sympathy.

Many lives that aren't worth living, she kept the thought to herself even if the nomad would understand that much as well. There were certain things that she wouldn't speak about to someone not of her blood or clan. "How long have you been wandering?" She thought the question applicable; she had answered something and now it was the other's turn to answer to her.

Mvyma thought about her answer. She had stayed with Issay throughout most her cunhood and adolescence. Did that count as wandering? "I have never belonged to a clan." She answered finally, knowing it was not a direct answer. "I found a home some time ago, where I left to come see the Wastelands for some time before returning."

The female bobbed her head in a small nod. "Then you have a home to return to." An unspoken question was under that statement, asking if perhaps she was less than wandering and more like running from something. It happened, on occasion, being chased out by some unwelcome visitor. Rogues even, perhaps. Though this one's appearance seemed more like a rogue and less like the nomad that hse claimed to be. At least she could think straight enough for conversation.

"I do." Her maw twisted in a smirk, her eyes racing across the land about them. "Perhaps I should take my leave of you now. You must have something better to do."

The queen-to-be bobbed her head in silent agreement. "If you are about these parts again and come with the same peace of mind, you won't be stopped." She rose as she spoke, slowly, stretching out over her front paws with a clack of her teeth. "Yet if you come with ill intent, you won't be walking away." Green-streaked face leveled between her shoulder blades, though it was absent of malice. Uchawi was probably not entirely sane herself.

((Argh. And excuse the fact that that makes about as much sense as placing one's hand in a meat grinder willingly. ^.^; ))
