I was listening to Shakira the other day and was suddenly stunned by the imagery that Ojas Asi gave for me. I now have an idea for a mediterranean sci-fi adventure. It was pretty cool. In fact I kept on listening back to it and noticed that the goosebumps that it sent up my arms were just part of the whole experience. In fact, I gathered some more ideas for it. So far I understand quite a bit about the world.

>If any of you are interested in sharing their ideas about a world with me I'd be stoked to give some feedback. I can be contacted via PM here or via my Keiko_Mushi account at http://www.amaranthia.com where I highly recommend some of you check out some time. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

I was watching a Josh Groban concert and he was talking about some of the songs were so remarkable, that they were written by the best composers ever... and I was thinking, "I've never noticed the amazing element of those songs before!" So I listened to the lyrics and read them using the subtitles, and they were really... (can't think of the word) remarkable (that's not the word...)! Those songs were all full of the elements that are most dear to me and that make a song, a book favorites, and I had never noticed them before! And best of all... THEY WERE PACKED WITH IMAGERY. Man... that imagery was good! There wasn't an immense amount of it, but when the composers used imagery! It was packed with emotion, and everything that imagery is supposed to be...
...
I'm not quite sure what that was about, but I just HAD to ramble about that....

Reviving this thread 'cause I can. pirate

I like to listen to soundtracks to a tv show or movie that excites me or songs that have lyrics with meaning or interesting visuals.

For example, my current playlists include:
TV
Buffy (which had some awesome tracks)
Supernatural
Charmed
Smallville

Movies
Until the End of the World (great movie, btw)
A Knight's Tale
Armageddon
Sleepy Hollow (can't beat it for creepy atmospherics)
The Order (similar reasons)
MI:2
Queen of the Damned

Oh, and the last thing I like to do is look at what influences my favorite authors. The Weather Warden series by Rachel Caine has a list of what she listens/ed to while writing the series and, while some are not to my taste, I have found a number of new fav artists that way.

I usually play Classical music which describes the mood of the scene I'm writing. For instance, I play Mozart for happy, Stravinsky for mad, Beethoven for sad, and Chopin for whatever.

"Another dream of mine to tell me to be told. Another follower and he tells me I am old. I find myself trapped inside a hole. A hope of luxeries left so I may hold. I do ot take, for I am only man. I do not steal, that was not the plan. I shall not break the laws of what I have been told. I am a hero, no matter what i'm told. I do many things to follow up my actions. These things, get me into bad reactions. They sully my name by making me a brute. I shove it out, without taking it. Without, taking it, Anymore!"

that's me writing a SOFT song so don't bug me. sweatdrop

Well, they're movies, but they're mostly music:
Koyannisqatsi
Powaqqatsi
Naqoyqatsi

You get EXTREMELY moved by those movies! The last one makes me want to write.

I listen to different things depending on the mood the the part I'm writing
like I'll listen to a sad song if it's a sad part I'm writing or a battle type song if it's a fight
