(I surprized that you both don't know how to play poker! Not that it's a bad thing. Just... Poker was the first card game that I learned how to play!)

Anna gave the Indian girl a few bottles of whiskey and accepted her money. She then gave Beau his alcohol. When she was done, she watched, interested in the Indian's girl want to join a game of poker.

Cliff moved over a little to make room for the girl. He made a slight disappointed look when Brett made his rude comment. He held his tongue, though, and gave the dealer back his cards. In the meantime, while waiting to get his hand, he mentally drew conclusions of the girl.

The green-haired man dismounted and patted his horse reassuringly on the neck. He walked it over to the corral and let go the reins. He didn't even make an attempt to tie it up.

Talking to it as if it could talk back, he said, "Now, Jimmy. No biting the other horses. Be a good boy and I might bring you an apple or two. You understand?" He looked his horse straight in the eyes to show that he wasn't joking.

The horse, named Jimmy, whickered. It stood like a little horse angel. The young man, satisfied, walked into the bar.

(Well then you're gonna have to help us Sparrow, 'cause I have no idea what I'm doing! xd )

Kuwa stuck her chin up in the air. "I'll take that as a yes to join, then," she said, as she sat down between Brett and Cliff. After the cards were passed out ( question xp ) she placed a high bet. She had set down the whiskey bottles in front of her.

(What kind of poker are they playing anyway? Five card stud? Five card draw? Seven card stud? Seven card draw? Blackjack?)

"Wouldn't be surprised if ya did," Beau answered cooly, taking a swill of his beer. "But then again, if ya aint had much trouble in this town, then maybe ya haven't." It didn't worry the outlaw the slightest that the sheriff recognized him. He wasn't wanted in this town, and the man would have to be a fool with a deathwish to try and arrest him.

Brett took his new hand. He studied them blankly, the end of his cigaret smoldering fiery red as he took a deep pull. "I raise your bet," he declared, exhaling a cloud of smoke.

(I know how to play poker! They can't play Blackjack, because there is no 'raising' or 'high betting' in that game.)

Cassidy let out a slow whistle between his teeth. "Good thing he didn't notice me," he muttered as he got up from his hiding place. He peered around the corral. He started when he saw Jimmy the Horse. "Well then, you weren't here when I last looked. You must belong to that funny-haired rider. You a mighty fine horse," the outlaw went on, half to himself and half to the horse. "Heh your so fine I might take ya'. I been look'n for a horse, and you'll suit me just fine," he said with a glimmer in his eye. He stepped up to the horse and made to stroke it. "I don't mean no harm," Cassidy assured, reaching his arm out.

Sherriff Cooper took a long swig of his whisky and studied Beau scrupoulously with his keen eyes. "I do know you!" he cried suddenly. "Your that no good varmint who robs trains. You were on a wanted poster in a town not far from here!"

(How about Texas Hold 'Em? That was is pretty popular and in this version of poker, you have to bet or you loose.)

Cliff topped Brett's bet placement by a few more dollars. He looked at his hand and at the cards laid out on the table. Cliff hid a smiled from all of the other players and gave an indifferent look at the cards.

Clive walked in the bar and slid into a seat at the bar counter. He tapped on the counter and waited patiently for the hostess to serve him.

Anna went over to the newcomer and asked, "Can I help yah?"

"Yeah," Clive replied. "Do you sell apples? And can I have about... four bottle of beer?"

"No apples, but the beer, it's gonna cost you $14."

"No problem." Clive handed over $14 to Anna. And in exchange, Anna gave him his beer. "And by the way... are you open every day?"

(Sorry I took so long, everybody. sweatdrop )

Kuwa raised the bet a bit more, glancing at the other players gathered there.

(Well that certainly wasn't worth the wait. >_>; Sorry! I was gonna try and see if I could look up Texas Hold 'Em and learn to play it, but that didn't work 'cause I'm lazy. crying And then I didn't know what to post. gonk )

Beau laughed, a blackish saliva spewing out of his open mouth. "I done alot more than rob a few trains."

Brett's eyes shifted over to the counter uneasily as he heard the outburst of brackish laughter. His gaze locked on the outlaw, he didn't realize the dealer waiting impatiently on him to bet.

Sensing Brett's eyes on his back, Beau whipped around. "What the Hell you starin at, boy? Aint you got a card game to play?"

Flustered, Brett snapped his attention back to the game at hand. Sensing the atmosphere in the bar could escalate quickly, he knew he had to get out quick. But no way in Hell was he about to lose to an Indian woman. He raised his bet again. (Does this make sense? I have no idea. XP)

Kid Cassidy was just about to mount the horse, when his boot slipped in the mud. The bandit knocked his chin on the side of the horse fel to the ground. Then there was a loud bang and a searing pain bolted through his left leg. He sat up slowly with difficulty as he realized what had happened. He had just shot himself in the leg. His brain swimming in the blinding pain, he lifted up his pant leg and inspected the wound. He had gotten lucky. The bullet had only grazed his thigh. He loaded his gun, pointed it to towards the bar, and started to crawl away, dragging his injured leg in the mud, wincing.

The sheriff glared at Beau, resenting the fact that he couldn't arrest him. When he heard the gunshot, he leaped from his seat, drawing his pistols. "Nobody move," he said in a commanding tone as he walked slowly out the front door. As he did, he spotted the injured bandtit. "Stop right there, you no good varmint!" Cooper yelled, cocking his guns and pointing them at Cassidy.

(Oh, righty Fantasy! Foutreen dollars is] a lot of money... I forgot that we were in a Western setting! sweatdrop mrgreen )

Clive turned and looked at the constible and the outlaw. It was like a scene out of those adventure novels that he read every once in a while. The good guy and the bad guy having a little stand off in a public place with dead silence and everyone watching.

Cliff groaned. "Hey, if we keep going on like this, I think I might loose everything." He looked at the wad of money sitting infront of the dealer.

(Okay, we have to have someone win now. They've bet enough based off the rules... I think... But let's but the game to an end and get the plot moving some more!)

(okay, who should win? gonk No offense, but based on his character, Brett probably is the best player. But then again, isn't it based on luck mostly anyway?)

Having no intentions of obeying Sheriff Cooper, Beau sauntered outside, curious of the commotion. If he was lucky, someone would end up dead from all of this, and he hoped it would be the sheriff. As he emerged through the swinging doors into the sunlight, he spotted Cassidy. Is that a gunshot wound on his leg? he wondered, smirking at the thought of the poor devil trying to relieve himself and being caught by that blasted shopkeaper.

Suddenly feeling rather hot under the collar, Brett tugged nervously at his shirt. Not caring how this game ended up, he said, "I'm in," and placed his cards face-down on the table. It was a pretty good hand anyway, he thought. Suddenly the prospect of losing his dignity to some Indian girl didn't seem quite so unpleasant as getting his brains blown out in a bar fight he didn't start.

(But it would be so funny if Kuwa won! Not only is she female, she's a Native American! xd Either way, she'd give them back their money out of politeness. And probably never play cards with them again. xd Oh, and Fanta, I go after Sparrow. razz )

Kuwa inwardly smiled. She was pretty sure she had a winning hand, but didn't want to be to sure. She waited a little to see what the others would do.

(So sorry, Neri! I think I've made that mistake before too. redface )

Cassidy evaluated his situation. He never had much dignity, and thus an idea came to his mind. He feebly crawled a few inches, let out a gasp and fell to the ground, his hand loosening it's grip on the trigger. It was all a ruse, however. He expected the sheriff to come out to check if he was alive, then he would act.

Sheriff Cooper looked at the bandit. He had no idea how bad the wound was, so it was possible to him that Cassidy had passed out from the pain. Still pointing his silver pistols, he aproached Cassidy slowly and catiously.

(How about Jimmy, Clive's horse, comes in and ruins the entire game and our characters take their money and run. Well, not exactly fun, but join the conflict with Drama's characters?)

Clive stood back a little and continued to watch, wholely amused by the scene. But I wonder if Jimmy is going to ruin it. That wouldn't be pretty, though. Clive thought to himself.

Cliff laid his cards down on the table, too. "Okay, who's going to show first?"
