Wheo You might be a ringer if you treat your Lord of the Rings book(s) like Gollum treats the ring. (Whenver someone touches it, I hiss at them, and sometimes I talk to my book, and I refer to them as "my precious...") sweatdrop xd I do that!!! Well, not the hissing part, but I do call the books precious! Well, aren't they?

You might be a ringer if: - you see someone tossing rocks in a lake, grab their arm and hiss, "Do not disturb the water!" - a salesmen knocks at your door, and you fling it open, screaming "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!" - you see a black horse and you scream and fall down clutching your shoulder. - at parties, you stand for a while looking down into a bowl of punch, then gasp and fall backward like you saw the Eye. - someone yells "There's a spider in here!" and you run into your room and come back with a flashlight in one hand and a replica Sting in the other.

Never seen the show I have done over half the things you people have stated (i want to learn elvish, but sooo hard.)
You might be a ringer if you quote parts of the movie into everyday life. You might be a ringer if pretend you are any male characters wife, and drool everytime you see one. You might be a ringer if got the all the movies (yes that includes extended) at midnight, the day they came out. You might be a ringer if you skipped school just to see the movies You might be a ringer if you know all the words to the movies, and the comitary with the cast also You might be a ringer if every time you hear the word "lord" or "ring" you automatically think someone is talking bout LOTR.
Oh there are so many more, and a lot that have already been stated.

Oh I read this really funny thing with lots of these. Some of them are a bit out of date though because this thing was made before RotK came out. I'll just right the ones nobody has thought of yet:
Have you been Tolkienized?! Note:...Tolkienism is a medical problem that cannot be corrected, fortunatly, it is only fatal in rare incidents, most of which involve angry Harry Potter fans.... If you have 3 or more of the following symptoms, feel free to contact your therapist....or just scream at the top of your lungs and take pride, your a Tolkienian. ~~~ You refer to the Silmarillion as "the Bible". ~~Instead of exclaiming "Oh my God" when something goes wrong, you say "A! Elbereth!" ~~~You dedicate your life to convincing the world that the story of Middle-Earth is true, and you really believe (know) that it is. ~~~If you have a Tolkien-related nickname at school/ work, and people (outside your friends) know you only by this. ~~~If you've ever spent three or more hours trying to explain how it's not right the way Arwen steals both Glorfindel's part, and his horse.. ~~~If you've ever spent more than two months attepmting to teach your non-lotr obssessed friends 'Tig'. ~~~If you go around saying " ((name)) has no ((noun)), ((name)) needs no ((noun)" In honor Boromir every chance you get. ~~~If you twitch in utter annoyance when people get their info wrong, and spend the next age trying to explain to them the need to be precise in your Tolkien-isms. ~~~If your planning on naming you children (or have alreay done so) after the Fellowskip, regardless of their sex. ~~~If you can recite the entire FotR and TTT movies without a falter (Even the Elvish bits) ~~~If you know all of Aragorn's ancestors names, births, and deaths, from Luthien and Beren onward. ~~~If you start speaking in Elvish each time to get overly exited/angry. ~~~ You have all of the students and teachers of your school in catergories and often call them by their race and name..((Hobbit, Dwarf, Human, Elf, Orc, Goblin, Valar, Ainur, Wizard, Haldir, Hama, ..Shelob..)) ~~~ You have written many letters to linguist scholars trying to tell them that Quenya precedes both ancient Greek and Latin, but there just won't listen! ~~~ You actually stayed up for 36 straight hours and taped over your child home videos so you could get TTT trailer on tape. ~~~ You wear pointy ears to school to show your Elvishness ~~~ Instead of showing school pride, you go barefoot to show your Hobbit pride. ~~~ You think your prinicpal fancies Magic rings, and that his wedding band has nothing to do with his marital status... ~~~You decide that it is your sole purpose in life to destroy the impostering keebler Elves..((Santa's helpers are mere Leprechauns..)) ~~~ You have a LotR tattoo and see it as your 'life brand'. ~~~You stand on the side of the highway with a sign that reads "Mordor or bust!" hoping that a passing Fellowship will pick you up. ~~~ You desperately want a cave troll for a pet. ~~~ When the P.A. comes on in school you jump out of your seat and yell, "There is a fell voice on the air!" You then sit back down quietly and mutter to your neighbor, "We cannot stay here. This will be the death of the hobbits!" ~~~You cry when Gandalf falls every time you see FOTR(I know I do..) ~~~ You think Gandalf looks good in grey. . ~~~ You begin to eat more meals than normal, like 2nd breakfast and elevensies. ~~~You stab yourself in hopes that Arwen will come take you to Rivendell, too! ( or maybe Glorfindel ) ~~~You catch every insect you see and speak to it using what Sindarin you know, in hopes that an eagle will fly to your window and rescue you from endless hours of homework. ~~~When giving the jeweler your ring to be inspected, you hold it to yourself and whisper: "My precioussss..." ~~~ You see "Catherine of Aragon (some famous person from England)" in your history book and you think: "Aragorn didn’t have a daughter..." ~~~ For fun, you go to school with a blanket over your head and any time someone tries to talk to you, you hiss: "Give me the Halfling!" ~~~ You get in trouble at school for having a sword on Halloween and your excuse is: "But how else will I know that Orcs are near if I don't have Sting?" ~~~ In church the pastor/preacher says 'Elijah' and you cry: "Frodo?!! Where?!!" ~~~Before you squash a spider you say something like "Meet your doom, ye foul spawn of Shelob!" ~~You frequently use adjectives like 'elven', 'nasssty', 'precioussss', 'dwarven', or 'hobbitish'. ~~~Whenever you leave someplace, you start singing 'The road goes ever on and on.' ~~~You call your bedroom 'Rivendell', your garden 'Shire', your garage 'Moria', etc. ~~You go to a bar, introduce yourself under a fake name, hop onto a table and sing some catchy little ditty. (Identity crisis?) ~~~ If someone ticks you off, you call the person a name like 'Fool of a Took' or 'Nassty hobbitses'. ~~ As you pour a glass of water you say "things that were, things that are, and some things that have not yet come to pass". ~~~You've seen the LOTR movies so many times the guys at the snack counter in the movies have named a combo meal after you. ~~~You're really annoyed that the spell checker on your word processor flags "prrrrreecciiooussss" as wrong. ~~~You've ever lied about the number of times you've seen FOTR. (classic addiction denial...) ~~~You've even been stuck in slow moving traffic, leaned out the window, and shouted "Fly, you fools!" ~~~You've already started on your costume for Opening Night of ROTK. ~~~You know what the initials ROTK stand for. ~~~You've managed to convince yourself that popcorn has the same nutritional value as lembas. ~~~You've taken to wearing a ring on a chain around your neck. (And you scowl and draw back from anyone who tries to look at it.) ~~~You are having lunch with a co-worker in the park, and you grab him/her and hurl the both of you into the ornamental shrubs, because you saw a flock of blackbirds approaching. ~~~You have developed a sudden *need* to take archery lessons. ~~~You start looking in the phone book for places you can have prosthetic feet and ears made....Or plastic surgery.. ~~~You're riding on the chair-lift when it gets stopped by high winds and blinding snow, when you turn to your companions and shout "We must get off the mountain!" ~~~You start growing lots of shrubs and greens around your house and start talking to the trees. ~~~While folding laundry you are seized with the urge to throw a sheet over your head and hiss, "Shhhhire......Bagginsssss...." - and then wonder why the other people in the laundry just look at you blankly. ~~~You dream yourself into Middle Earth and get confronted with an incredible amount of curses out of your own mouth after your sleep was disturbed by whatever. ~~~You start to recite whole dialogues from LOTR word by word when one of your friends asks you "Do you remember when Gandalf..." ~~~Whenever you're having a problem you wish Gandalf was around to advise you. ~~~You start self-censoring your LOTR comments to family and co-workers so they won't think you're a total fanatic. They wonder why you stopped talking altogether. ~~~You absolutely love Christmas but this year it was just one big interruptionin your whole Lord of the Rings viewing schedule. ~~~When your bus is twenty minutes late, you start talking to moths just in case you can bum a ride. ~~~You put a sign on your sister's door saying "There is evil here that does not sleep". ~~~You have a very complicated journey to make, but it doesn't even occur to you to bring a map. ~~~You have started practicing the "Legolas arrow stab maneuver" with knitting needles..or other pointy objects.. ~~~When one of your teachers tells you to pick your groups for a project, so you pick up your stuff and go to a group that's forming, saying, "You need people of intelligence on this project...assignment....thing." ~~~You start looking at your friends' ears to see whose are the most pointy ~~~Friends and relatives begin to drive you crazy with requests to recite the whole movies backwards, and the saddest part is... you can actually do it !! ~~~You know that if you had a pet parrot, it also would be able to do recite the entire movies backwards as well... ~~~At the grocery store, people you have never met are heard whispering: "Look, it's that Ring person". ~~~You use the term "soft palate" whenever you give your blow-by-blow description of the battle of Balin's tomb. ~~~You have a favorite orc, and argue with your friends as to whether "Hissy" or "Pink-eye" is cooler. ~~~People tell you to shut up as you sing along with Gandalf and Bilbo ~~~You call Valentine's day "Aragorn/Arwen day". ~~~You've gone out to a restaurant and, when the waiter comes to take your order, you've actually asked for either: a. Tomatoes, sausage, nice crispy bacon b. Malt beer and red meat off the bone c. Fiiisssshhhhheeeessssss. ~~~People taking their daily walk call to you when you pass them and call you by your elvish name. ~~~Anything anybody says causes you to look up from what your doing and start reciting the scene that starts like that. ~~~You find yourself thinking your teacher is a hobbit and are convinced when they mention they like mushrooms. ~~~You know that you were born in the wrong era, and that you should have been in Middle Earth, despite your history teachers objctions to Middle Earth
More Symptoms of Tolkienism ~~~When your younger brother tries getting into your room you shout "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" ~~~When asked what your greatest fear is, you reply, "Sauron getting the ring and enslaving the world". ~~~When you get angry at someone, you recite the one ring poem in the black language. ~~~Find yourself referring to the LOTR in daily conversation. For example, "Yeah I understand, just like when Pippin accidentally woke the Orcs..." ~~~You lose a sock in the washing machine and sadly announce "It has fallen into shadow". ~~~You grab every gold ring you see and smash it with your trusty axe (your new accessory), saving you the trip to Mt. Doom. ~~~You install a second peep hole and doorbell 3 feet up from the bottom of your front door in case any hobbits stop by. ~~~You've ripped up all the plants from your garden and planted only kingsfoil, for medicinal purposes. ~~~You have recently been overcome with an obsession to find a LotR nickname -- there are people actually named Eowyn, Meri and Lorien out there! Totally unfair! ~~~You have a major, major crush on one of the characters - the character, not the actor. ~~~You insist that you CANNOT have a gold ring - the risk is just too great! ~~~You know each actor (including very minor characters), director, producer, etc.'s name, age and where he/she lives by heart. ~~~You can hear someone talking about LotR or you can see the cover of one of the books from an amazing distance away. ~~~You ask someone who is in the process of reading the books what page they are on in Fellowship of the Ring, and you know exactly what is happening just by the page number, or at least what chapter it is in. ~~~Your good friend who has never read any of the books or seen the movie points to the picture of Saruman on the cover of The Two Towers and asks, "Is that Sam?" You burst into tears. ~~~Someone who has only seen the movie once points to Aragorn on the cover of Return of the King, and says "Hey! That's the guy who tried to kill the Frodo!" and you are mortally offended. ~~~You can recite whole pages of text without referring to the book. ~~~You feel strangely comforted while reading this list. ~~~You have the regular size calendar at work, the poster size calendar at home, the key chains ... ~~~Your friends quickly introduce new topics when conversation lapses to keep you from talking about LOTR ~~~You believe you are being stalked by an orc when your cat just wants to play. ~~~You tell your friends that if you should be hit by a bus before all three of these movies are out that you're going to have to haunt a theatre until Christmas 2003! ~~~You find yourself skipping third period (or sneaking out of work) to eat elevensies. ~~~Even if your not American you find yourself rooting for Todd Eldrige just because he skated to Lord of the Rings ~~~You start referring to people you like as mellon ~~~You swear that you heard Black Riders outside your house so you go outside with a torch and find out it was only the night patrol. ~~~When you're hiking on nature trails, you find yourself hiding behind (or in) trees every time you hear foot steps. ~~~You swear that you saw orc eyes in the last cave you visited. ~~~You wonder why Elvish is not included in the world languages part of your course calendar. ~~~People stop asking you what you did last weekend because it always starts.. "Well, I saw LOTR..." ~~~You start seeing LOTR phrases in daily life: boarding pass = you shall not pass, electrical = elvish ~~~It's getting hard to have conversations in which you use your own words rather than just quoting LOTR. ~~~Since you don't want popcorn you ask the movie theatre staff if you can just buy the LOTR plastic popcorn bucket by itself. ~~~In anticipation of the coming movie, you then put said LOTR popcorn bucket on your head and proclaim aloud, "I am Eowyn, and I don my helm of Rohan". ~~~You rename your horse Bill.
A lot isn't there?

You know you're a ringer when...
...you bought a 24 karat gold ring and wear it on a silver linked chain around your neck.
...the ring you wear on a silver chain around your neck doesn't have the inscription ingraved on it because it needs to either be in fire or on Sauron to show. (As you explain to everyone who has the misfortune of mentioning the missing inscription)
...you haven't taken the ring and chain off for over three years (except on rare occations), even when you take a shower.
...you own a paperback beater copy, the red letherett edition, and the 50th anaversery edition of LotR.
...your friend bought you the 50th anaversery edition for your 18th birthday so you wouldn't forget the good times you shared. Like watching all three extended edition movies in one day.
...you've watched all three extended edition movies in one day.
...faced with with an in-class essay analyzing the line "To be, or not to be" from Hamlet you are able not only to quickly make the connection between it and Sam's words on the stairs of Cirith Ungol, you also have the book in your bag, the page marked, write down the quote mostly by heart, and spend two pages analyzing the two.
...your favorite username was an attempt to create a Hobbit-like name.
...half the streets in your favorite Sims2 neighbourhood are named after Shire towns.
...you quote LotR in much the same way a Christian quotes the Bible.
...you read three kinds of books: books by Tolkien, books about Tolkien and his works, and books you relate to Tolkien and his works.
...you call your short girlfriend (or boyfriend) "my little Hobbit" as a pet name.
..you write a 5 page essay on "Heroism, Victory, and Sacrifice, in LotR" just for shits and giggles even though you lothe essays.
...your English teacher is so impressed by said essay he gives you credit for on of the assigned essays you didn't do.
...you start thinking up your own story and soon realize that it's a modernized version of the journy of Frodo and Sam.
...you have a five page Word document of your favorite LotR quotes in cronilogical order.
...you've read parts of the book maybe 20 times (but you've actually lost count).
...one of your favorite webcomics was about a guy waiting in line 3 years to see all the movies.
...you take up fencing to fend off orcs (although, I admit, it was also partly for lightsaber technique as well XD)
...you get recipies off the internet for lembas and actually make it.
...you get plan out how to get degrees in structureal engenering, archatecture, interior architecture, historic building preservation, and construction management so that you might one day built a human sized Hobbit-Hole to retire in.
...you've put many of the songs to music, even if it's only in your own head.
...you're almost unbeatable at Tolkien trivia.
...you can write a list this long of things you've actually done that prove your insanity.
