I HATE Anne Rice, I find her books too redundant and very annoying.
On another note, Laurell K. Hamilton is a GREAT author. She has made a Vampire series, Anita Blake, some series about a feary princess and some battle between something or other... anyway, it's not what it's sounds like, it's a REALLY good seriously and quite grusome in places (Yay! *claps* ) and yeah... that one is the Merideth Gentry series. She has some other odds and ends ones, but they aren't really series. Yay! Laurell K. Hamilton!<~ Obsession

Anything Edgar Allan poe, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (her vampire books WAY good), and vampire kisses is a good book, the cirque du freak series, Demon Diary (not really gothic, but a really good manga series.)

And unfortunatley I haven't read any Ann Rice books yet, my mom says that she doesn't want me reading such advanced books with advanced subjects yet... xp

Another good book, not GOTHIC, is Smack. It's about these 14 year olds in the U.K. about mid-80s that get into drugs and stuff. BUT IT'S REALLY GOOD! I've already read it twice and might just buy it.... ninja

The victim isn't dead, silly child...

My all-time favorite book is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It's so sad.... crying ...
Anyway, it's about a girl growing up in Nazi Germany. She goes to live with foster parents after her brother dies, and in the end...her neighborhood is bombed and everyone that she has come to know so well dies.

...he just smells funny.

Authors:

Edgar Allan Poe
Mary Shelly
Um, what the hell is his first name? Byron
Kafka
Lovecraft

I love all of those authors (But not so much Byron)

Read these books/stories:
Frankenstein (Shelly)
The Metamorphosis (Kafka)
In the Penal Colony (Kafka)
The Thing on the Doorstep (Lovecraft)
Under the Pyramids *With Harry Houdini (Lovecraft)
Pickmans Model (Lovecraft)
In The Vault (Lovecraft)
The Outsider (Lovecraft)

And lotsa more from Poe and Lovecraft.
