x]Coming Home _____________________ [02]

Stopping, Soye took the time to breathe deeply, inhaling the scent of transplanted earth and leaves underneath the rather warm sun. Standing in front of the lake, she continued to stare, as if somehow with mere force of will alone she could make the green lotus react.

Green, the same color as the newly sprouting vines on the side of the bridge. The white buds seemed out of place among the soft green beauty, but it suited the garden, it suited the event, and it suited Soye's mood.

Green.

With a slightly satisfied smile, she continued to look at the lotus. She had picked it a week ago, but only now had she been notified that it was ready to be moved. Moved into her own garden.

Her house.

The thought that this place _belonged_ to her still chilled her, and with some effort she pulled her thoughts away from the house, to the garden.

To celebrate, she had moved a small pair of stone lanterns to the foot of the cherry bridge, lighting her path and all the other cliche's. It had been heavy work, but it was so pretty.

Soon she wouldn't be alone in this house any more.

With that somewhat heartening thought, Soye wiped her hands on the edge of her skirt, and moved towards the kitchen.

She'd prepare some tea, and then maybe, keep the lotus company.

It was time she started to get acquainted with her new companion.

The lotus has arrived in one piece, today. The garden is empty-- but it is something that will soon remedy itself. By that it almost suggests that the garden will grow by itself, magnolia blossoms and jasmine bushes taking root with a mind of it's own... but we both know that I mean more then that.

It's a full moon tonight, and it has grown late enough that the moon has already started to set. But I cannot sleep.

Having a house to myself, being alone, is... jarring. It scares me, excites me, dulls my nerves and heightens my senses. I don't like it.

Even when Blythe went away for trips, I have always known that she would return. But this is different. All that I have to keep me company is a lotus floating alone in it's pond.

Is it the lonliness that has me feeling this way, or true independence?

I wonder if the lotus feels anything like this...

I am sitting on the verandah, looking out over the lake. The pagoda has just been painted and I do not want to risk streaking my white robes with scarlet and gold markings. Lamp light is sufficient enough to write by when we have four surrounding you, and from here, the lotus also looks a little bit...

Sad.

Maybe I should have bought back some other plants. Maybe some animals. But the thought of dead animals is nauseating, and soon... well, soon the lotus will bloom, and I won't have to worry about it getting lonely in the darkness.

I have already started to pick out names. Yes, rather ridiculous, knowing only that the lotus is green-- but names are something. I've got ten girl names, ten boy names.

Surely one of them would prove to be the right one...

Before I go back to try to sleep in the large house, I think I'll leave a lamp burning for the lotus.

I can't remember anything from back then... it is too long ago. But I'm sure the lotus will appreciate it.

Soye.

[
x]Arriving_____________________ [04]

There were nights where it was hot indoors, the constrainted space circulating the heated air as if speed would solve all it's inner worries. Hot, stifling, and on those nights Soye would take a blanket and a hammock out into the porch, using it as a temporary respite from the cloying warmth.

But this night, she was too tired to fashion a hammock, too tired to take the heat like a soldier. Instead with a blanket in hand, Soye dragged out towards the pagoda. The paint had dried a week ago, and the low light coming in from the stone lamps was comforting.

Dressed in a shirt white slip that was more for modesty's sake than to hide skin, Soya rushed back indoors to get two pillows-- and a cup of water.

It was night now. Or almost morning. In a couple of hours Soye knew the sun would rise past the stone fence and hit her face. But it was still night for now, and with her items in hand, Soye settled down in the nook of the pagoda, feeling cooled, and the soft scent of magnolias comforting the new guardian.

Morning came the way Soye had predicted. Sun hitting her face and her neck as if it would wake her with it's pressure. It did, of course. The sun, the heat, but also a odd scent in the air, a powerful scent of lotus that could only result if...

Soye's eyes flew open. She sat up, pulling the sheet around her body to give a measure of decency before peering out over the pagoda's edge. Peering at her as well, as a little young, sober eyes lit with curiosity as she tried to get her bearings.

"Are you..." Soye said outloud, and the noise the girl ducked her head, as if it ruined the tranquility of dawn.

Yes, she was.

Sleep still dazed the edges of her mind. But Soye got up with a some alertness and walked over to the edge. "You..."

The girl looked up, and with slanted eyes of a sleepy child, smiled.

She was here.

[
x] Strangers____________ [06]

It was beautiful.

arpee with jaded bliss.

^^ logging the messages now so I don't have to go through looking for it later.

[I could only hope..]
A blond laughed as he ran away from his work, his hat flew off of his head and placed itself onto the grass. He flung his handbag away from his shoulder and tore off his shoes. And then with a big FWOMP he tripped to the grassy floor.

Fai laid down on the field of rippling flowers of the breeze. It was a peaceful day, nothing more like it. Ahhhh..... So great, now I can take a nap from the bustling daylight world and enter my sleep. He let out a laugh and then curled up in a lazy ball like a cat and began to count the clouds.

Doves started to land when he got up restlessly. One perched on his head playfully chirping. Fai reached for his handbag and got a loaf of bread out. Ripping it into peices and flinging them out to other birds, daring them to come closer for more. The one on his head pecked on him for food, Fai let out a laugh. "I wouldn't forget about you!" She tossed a peice of bread up as the dove gobbled it up hungerly.

[Hahahaha, SHORT.]

"Sunny, wait for me!" with the final plead Soye gingerly picked her way across the grass, heels sinking into earth too fragile to hold such synthetic pressure. Stopping at the edge of the path and looking out over the field, her eyes darkened with annoyance. "Eun SUN!"

The lotus child looked back, peeking over the edge of the grass as she crawled rapidly to freedom. Freedom, and the mere feeling of heat and life underneath her palms. Without paying any attention to where her guardian stood she continued onwards, drawn by the sound of laughter and the coo of birds to a...

Man?

Fai looked down at his last peice of bread as he flung it aside carelessly. Guess where the bread went? It bounced off of a baby's head. He got up as the birds started to fly away from fear of being caught. Fai let out a hearty laugh as he twirled around for a minute and then flopped down again, he turned to his side to grab his belongings.

What he found was a baby? "Eh?" In a distance he could see a woman, "Eun SUN!!!" Fai jumped back in surprise as he saw the baby crawing twords him. He picked the baby up and petted his mint green lotus. "Is she yours?"

Eun Sun stared up at the man holding her, wiggling so that she was more comfortable. Letting out a gurgle in response, she turned to her guardian, as if saying 'Look! A new toy to play with.'

Soye shifted her weight from one foot to another at the edge of the path. "She is." she responded somewhat testily, nodding her head. Grass could smudge dirt against her skirt, and she had just bought it as well...

Assessing the man and deciding that, well, perhaps he wasn't too dangerous, she waved at him. "Could you bring her over here... please?" she added. And smiled. "Thank you."

Clearly assuming that the stranger would do so.

Fai quirked his eyebrow a bit, his ocean blue eyes filled with amusment. He looked at the baby lotus called 'Eun Sun' and smiled, he wasn't that good with children so he was a shy carefree guy naturally. The only one he could contact with though was Serene. He paid attention to the woman. She had black hair, and dark eyes; but he couldn't tell from a distance. He placed the baby behind his neck, letting her legs split and giving her a free joy ride.

"Whoosh!" He said, zooming over to the guardian. When he got in about two feet away from the woman lotus he took the baby from his neck and into his arms. He smiled lightly and had a carefree smile on his face, one that'd probably annoy you if you saw it too often. "Here you-" Hunger. Fai's stomach growled loudly and rudely as well. A embarressed blush covered his face. "Errr... I'm sorry. I guess I'm just hungry(since I gave my bread to the birds...)...." He laughed awkwardly anddeveloped more of a scaralet blush.

Eun Sun let out a squeal of delight at the sudden movement. Look, they were going so fast! Unused to this kind of treatment, (Soye would never carry her the same way) her face split into a smile.

Now this WAS fun.

Soye watched, helpless. She smiled though, shaking her head. Either he was stupid, or just easy going. Deciding that maybe it was the first rather than the second (she was a little girl! Was it safe? What if it influenced her in the future and she grew to be unruly?) she smiled, opening her mouth to say her thanks.

And stopped.

Well. It would show her thanks, and Blythe had always told her to be nice to people who did things for you.

"Why don't we all get something to eat?" she suggested. "I haven't had anything either" as long as it was cheap. But she didn't voice the rest of the words.

"U-Uhm.... Yes..." Fai knew he was hungry, but he didn't want to offend the lady. "As long as it's good and inexpensive. I know a good place, it's a Cafe near the school. I think it has some scones for your lotus there too." He smiled lightly as he lead the way, slowly for the baby lotus by a bit faster for the guardian.

"Um, say. My name's Fai Blanche, what's yours? Sorry if I'm being rude, but you lotus there, Eun Sun was it? She's so cute, you should let her have some fun once and awhile, if you go to strict on her she will probably have a ton of things bottled up inside of her, going to unruly habits. If you look at me, my childhood was once locked away as well, but if you learn the right way, maybe you could fly away like the birds. Once with no wings, and ugly feathers. But then emerges a beautiful swan."

Soye frowned. Was this man telling her what to do? Her back stiffened- and with a long look down at Eun Sun, she shrugged. Well. Whatever. The man could give her all the advice he wanted. Although the swan line...

Snickering quietly, she nodded her head. "Are you a guardian?" she asked, looking around them to see if there was a lotus hiding out in the grass, or in plain sight.

"The cafe sounds good," Soye smiled. "She is adorable, isn't she?" pride rang in her voice.

Fai seemingly embarressed enough couldn't see Soye and her reaction. "A guardian? No. I'm not too well with kids unless I have some help. But Eun here has been a great little lotus. She's my faveriot. Hahaha, I'm sorry if I offended you with my rantings. I have such a habit of speaking thoughts aloud." He laughed.

"Nothing I can do about it though. It's like me being bad to children. But I would sure like to raise one rather to be a disgrace. Even so, I would still need much help. But still, I'll do the best and try not to be a hindrace." He gave another smile. Then clenching his fists and bringing them to his chest. "May Frear bless me!"

Soye giggled. "I'm sorry." she said, a rush of honesty. "I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable." relaxed without the weight of Eunsun on her arms, she nodded her head. "I'm Soye, and Eun Sun, as you well know..." she looked down at the baby who brightened, as if understanding just what they were aiming for.

As they neared the small cafe, Soye reached for her child. "It's nice, meeting someone else. She's been a load enough at first that it's been hard to see others." she grinned.
"I'll take her off your arms." He joked. "I'm going to get some milk and scones for Eun, what do you want?" He asked. "Fai? Whatcha doing here?" Fai turned around to the all familer sound of the voice. "S-Serene? No! It's more like, what are you doing here?" The girl called Serene laughed and twirled around in her Cafe uniform. "I work here silly, isn't it cute? The outift I mean, but the Cafe is too." She laughed and looked over to Soye.

"Ah Fai...." She looked dissapointed for a minute but then grinned, almost bashing him on the head with her plate. "You've got a girlfriend! I'm so proud of my widdle Fai-Fai." She said, patting his injured head. Then soon after, Eun Sun came into the picture. "Aww, I'm jeleous; You've got a girlfriend with a cute Lotus! She's adorable." Serene gave out a smile, but under she was a bit depressed, yet still happy. "I'm Serene by the way."

"Scones sound good for me too." she said automatically, grinning. Fai didn't seem dangerous-- and besides, they were inside a tiny little cafe. What could the worst thing to happen to her Eun Sun be?

At the arrival of a new face she paused, frowning as she watched the little exchange. Her eyes widened in protest, and Eun Sun, at the burst of noise and babble from the new arrival giggled.

"Soye." she said, nodding her head. "And we've..." she motioned to the trio with a tilt of her head. "have just met."

*rolls around*

"Oh really? Well I must of misjudged you. I'm sorry." She took a deep bow and poked Eun's cheek. "You must be a handful ne?" Fai sighed and hid his face. Serene smiled, "I'll get you scones, free of charge. And don't worry, it's my treat!" Fai sighed more deeply of a sigh or relief and embarressment. "Okay Okay. Serene-" Too bad, she already left. Which left only Soye and him.

Withheld Confessions

Sunny said her first word today. It wasn't my name, or the name of her garden. She pointed to the grass and said 'water'. Whether this is a good sign for her future mental development or a bad one... well, I hardly want to find out so badly. I hope this is a good sign, since... well...

She is mine, after all.

Eun Sun isn't full of smiles, these days. She seems more grave, more withdrawn- I believe she's slowly losing some of that baby fat too! But I don't know if I should be happy or sad. Where is all the time going, for the both of us?

Yesterday I finished weeding the garden. Finished, in a sense that only grass and the magnolia blossoms fill out view now. Tomorrow, the two of us will be heading out to buy some colored stones for the lake. We reserved them, and I've heard noises that the delivery system isn't working.

Don't worry, though. We'll work our way through it. I hope.

Blythe has still promised to come, but to no avail. I wonder if she's willing to meet Eun Sun at all.

I hope so.
