_________________________________________________Ariana let out a soft sigh as she reached up and scratched Nia's beak with her index finger. "An interesting ability... very situational however..." She muttered in response to Daniel's reply. "Although it explains how you managed to wedge your head into the tree as you had." When Daniel pulled Pyro Jack she was caught off guard, having a look of confusion on her face. "W..where the hell did that come from!? That makes entirely no sense in the slightest..." She thought to herself, before shaking it off and letting out a sigh. "Excellent... a flamethrower in a forest, no way that could go wrong hmm? Just... keep it under control okay... I really don't like fire..." She shuddered slightly however with a soft chuckle she nodded to herself. "Very close range...however a surprise attack with such a weapon could be a very effective tactic..." She softly spoke to herself and lightly grinning at potential tactics brewing. However it only lasted a few moments as she quickly shifted her attention back to Cora. "It looks very reliable." Ariana smiled gently as she inspected Cora's weapon from where she stood. However it only took a few moments before she moved in closer to have a better look. In doing so she smiled even more brightly. "My mother wrote in her journal how difficult it was for a weapon to convert between two entirely different forms. You did a wonderful job with this, it transforms so smoothly and I can't see any issues with it's conversion!" She appeared to be becoming excited in the prospects of how well crafted the weapon was, however Nia quickly reigned her back in by nipping at her ear. "O-oh! Sorry... I get a little carried away from time to time..." She smiled coyly as she stepped back from what was likely a tad too close for comfort in the eyes of a "normal" person. Though she chuckled softly as she placed her hand on the tree they'd freed Daniel from. "I thought myself perceptive...But I hadn't even thought of that. I like how you think Cora." She gave Cora a genuine smile as she inspected the grain, sure enough the strike had done very well to follow the grain. "You truly do have excellent eyes... Nia might get jealous." Nia puffed up defiantly before flying over and "pecking" Cora's head, though it was actually more along the lines of an adorable "bopping" then anything. She then promptly drifted up and sat on Cora's head as the "victor", she obviously has a very one sided concept of victory. Upon hearing that Iris was capable of healing, Ariana breathed a soft sigh of relief. To be without a healer in a situation where they had to remain until victory was quite an unwelcome concept. However the thought that a CQC, or close quarters combatant, could boost another teammate's attributes at the expense of her own did not sit well with Ariana. While she did not know the details of her ability, Ariana suspected it would likely be some sort of diminished ratio where Iris takes a penalty to give a smaller boost to another teammate. That said however, it was quite a useful ability to have, and she decided to keep her thoughts on the matter to herself for the time being as it was too early to make a decision upon it. "I am glad we have a healer, my mother stated that several hunts ended in failures due to a lack of some sort of healer, be it an aura user or a standard medic."Ariana lifted her jacket and pulled out the blade-less hilt, inspecting it for a moment as a feeling of comfort filled her. "You've all been so kind as to tell me your capabilities, so I shall do the same. This..." She trailed off as she took several steps back as she spoke then flicked her wrist to the side. A blade erupted from the hilt, extending tremendously until it appeared as if she were wielding a lance rather than a rapier. The blade consisted of a very fluid looking silver metal with luminescent yellow dust could be seen coursing through the blade. Given the nature of the Argyle Coil, the dust it contained was tempered, as such it could only be utilized by the Argyle Coil. Thus when expended, it naturally returns to the blade on it's own accord. "...Is the Argyle Coil, it has no special abilities as such... But it can convert into a sentient shield which will protect me in combat. I can not show you this however... as it recovers it's expended dust at a reasonably slow rate." She reverted the blade to it's passive state and placed it back upon her hip before speaking again. "I am an artillery class combatant, while I am able to provide support via Nia here, I can only do so once within a day's time. However, I assure you, the effects of which are quite astounding." Nia cooed happily as she puffed her adorable little chest out to signify she was quite proud of her capabilities before flying off Cora's head to land on Ariana's shoulder. After a moment Ariana finally came to Iris' suggestion to leave. "You are correct Iris, we should move, lingering for too long will draw attention. Let alone the fact we'd just spent time speaking, there was the matter of freeing Daniel which caused a fair bit of noise." Now to the matter at hand, the mission. Ariana gently patted Nia's head then pointed to the sky. "Take a look for me Nia, if the Nevermore is approaching we will need to flee swiftly." Nia hooted then took off flying straight up, while her range was limited, at her maximum distance she could just barely peek over the trees and panned her view around the canopy before returning to the ground floor and landed on Ariana's shoulder. She cooed and rubbed against Ariana's cheek, a sign that they weren't in any danger as of yet. "Good it's doesn't seem to have noticed us... Well then our task was to capture the relics, potentially enter combat with any matter of Grimm and hopefully avoid any unnecessary combat. Truth be told, I would prefer to avoid confrontation with the Nevermore..." Yet despite her own words, she was already starting to work up a plan to eliminate it, something which she had to admit to herself, she felt excited about. Ariana started walking, with no particular direction in mind she pulled out a worn out journal and began reading it while quietly muttering to herself. "Nevermore..Nevermore...there it is... what did mother write on it..." Either through some sort of strange reader's vision, or unheard direction from Nia, Ariana managed to deftly avoid running into any trees as she walked. Even going so far as to side step one without breaking her gaze at the journal. _________________________________________________

Daniel Redmond Crane Danny agreed with his teammates on the walk-and-talk plan. As Iris and Ariana mentioned the Nevermore, he gave a nod. "I'd rather avoid fighting that big old bird, too. My fireballs would fizzle out before they got close enough, and unless I somehow evolve into a beautiful Pegasus, there's no damn way I can headbutt it." He told them as he trotted along. Danny then had an idea. "Well, if we see it come close, we could distract it with something. What do giant birds like though? I mean, besides people and/or giant worms." He asked. This was gonna be a real hassle if they had to take on the Nevermore. Danny couldn't fly, and his only ranged attack couldn't reach far enough to hit something that high up.

- Can you see the light? As far as the eyes can see From this point above the world Where mortals dare their destiny. As it radiates May I witness open-eyed Let me remain where there is light.
Cora's eyes shifted away shyly at the compliment, though she did feel a bit of pride in her weapon. There were many, many weeks of work that went into it, from the dust selection, many different blueprints and prototypes, the forging of the weapon, and then the many small adjustments she made even after it was officially built. The curve of the crossbow was the curve of the shield, so the assembly itself only needed to pivot about. Likewise, the for the entire thing to close down, it simply continued to turn about until all of the segments were locked in place just at her wrist. She didn't mind it when others inspected the work or asked questions about it.
She did not expect, however, that the owl would seem to take offence by this and then tap at her head. She stood still as Nia perched on her head and seemed to fluff up confidently. Unaccustomed as she was to owls, Cora was not sure what to do. So... her confusion held her steady. One might consider her to look not unlike a deer who was just puzzled by her surroundings.
After a while, Nia did return to her owner and Cora could pick herself up again. As for the Nevermore... it was a giant bird. Birds, generally, had wonderful eyesight. They were a force to be reckoned with, especially if there was a nest involved. There was nothing more terrifying than a raging mother....
While Cora knew of many poems, it was of the Nevermore that she did not have much personal experience beyond what she remembered studying. "If I remember right.... their strength is staying out of reach and striking hard when they can. They are not nearly as durable as the others of its size, but it's hard to throw a lot of firepower at it until it gets close, which it might choose not to do. However, if we can bring it to the ground, we should have the advantage."
Well, should was a loose guess on Cora's part as she took inventory of the weapons they had. There was the heavy bludgeoning helmet that belonged to Daniel, there was the elegant dust-wielding sword that belonged to Iris, appearing to be close range and precise, There was Ariana's weapon which also suggested that she was a melee fighter, though her weapon doubled as a shield as needed. Nia seemed to have her own abilities, and if they could only be used once a day, it suggested power.... Artillery was ranged, which would come in very handy against the Nevermore if it found them. Lastly, there was Cora's crossbow and shield.... The crossbow did piercing damage and had effects based on the dust she set in the bolts, but her ranged weapon did not deal heavy amounts of damage at a time. At best, it would tick off the Nevermore if she did not land a very good hit. Even then, her range was limited.
They definitely needed to be close to hurt or take care of the Nevermore... and hopefully not get scooped up in the process.
"We should avoid it if we can. If not... take out its wings." ~~*~~

(( I'm so sorry everyone! I know it's been forever since I posted and I'm so sorry for the ungodly wait. Hopefully things around here will be calming down soon. Again, sorry everyone! )) Iris KenmasutāRansurotto: [Inactive] [Active] Achilles Shield: [Inactive] [Active] Dust capsule: [Fire:2] [Water:2] [Wind:2] [Lightning:2] [Earth:2] [Ice:2] [Poison:2] [Darkness:2] [Light:2] [None]Semblance: Supporting Enhancements (strong); [Inactive] [Active] [Attack to:], [Defense to:]. [Speed to:], [Health to:], [Special attack to:], [Special defense to:] Equilibrium (weak); [Inactive] [Active] [Healing to], [Replenishing to] It was rather nice having a stranger appreciative of her healing abilities right off the bat. Iris felt it might be more of the strategist side of Ariana which cared for her at the moment but it was still faltering all the same. Team A.C.I.D, headed through the thick forest, kept the feet working like thier mouths with open thoughts of the threat flying high overhead. "Nevermore..Nevermore...there it is... what did mother write on it..." Ariana muddled whilst her trained hands swiftly shifted through a rather peculiar book, hidden the way her brother usually keeps his weapon when among the general populous. Its binding looked tough and the pages weathered from age and usage. A real treasure of knowledge to the eyes of Iris. "I'd rather avoid fighting that big old bird, too. My fireballs would fizzle out before they got close enough, and unless I somehow evolve into a beautiful Pegasus, there's no damn way I can headbutt it." Iris giggled, finding the faunus boy fairly funny. Some others, like the people at her father's court, might have thought him a bit too brass but Iris seen Danny as an open and straightforward individual; if not zealous. "If I remember right.... swiftly recalled Cora after gracefully recovering from some rough criticism of a picky feathered friend. "Their strength is staying out of reach and striking hard when they can. They are not nearly as durable as the others of its size, but it's hard to throw a lot of firepower at it until it gets close, which it might choose not to do. However, if we can bring it to the ground, we should have the advantage." Cora sounded quite sure in her words and though Iris may have delt with one of those nasty birds before she could feel comfortable in Cora's steady aura. Her reliability was like a pillar Iris felt could wether any crisis; much like how she felt about Harthwin. "We should avoid it if we can. If not... take out its wings." "Clip its wings then we'll make it sing, I love it! But Cora is right, the best thing we can do is to avoid it. Many people train to expect Grimm attacks or even how to try to ambush them but many forget there is an alternative way to deal with them. If we simply keep in good spirits our positive auras won't attract it to us." A fact that is though to Hunters and civilian alike but when faced with the actual sight of a Grimm keeping ones emotions in check is easier said than done. Grimm have been the stuff of legends, myths and nightmares since ancient times. To hear about such awful beast, some of which don't possess animalistic bodies, then to feel their presence is quite heart pounding. Admittedly Iris' heart still beats a little faster whenever she sees Grimm. "My religion dictates that its members slay any and all Grimm when they can but...it also says that Grimm are the souls of sinners paying for their transgressions. When I think about it I imagine how awful thier soul must be suffering already...and I lose the will to kill them." Iris felt a sting of shame as she admitted this truth to her teammates. Back on the island her people might have seen her as either weak minded, which was bad for someone in her position on the island, or the people might think her a Grimmsist, which was even worse. With her self loathing Iris' stare strayed and with a weak smile she asked the whole team, "You must all think I'm kinda stupid, for thinking like that."

Daniel Redmond Crane Danny was a bit skeptical at Iris's plan. "So...in order to avoid the giant, soulless, demonic, flesh-rending murder-bird, our only hope...is to think happy thoughts?" He asked. "Forgive me for saying this, but I've accumulated a decade's worth of brain damage with my fighting style, and even I think that plan is kinda dumb." He told his teammate. "If we could just drive Grimm away with good vibes, humans would have started doing that years ago, and Beacon Academy wouldn't exist. I say we find a way to clip that b*****d's wings. I could try and rig Pyro Jack's flamethrower into some kinda insane jet engine, possibly fire it like a pumpkin-shaped cruise missile." He suggested. He wasn't too technically gifted, but if there was one thing he knew how to do, it was making things into unexpected weapons of destruction.

On the one hand, it might have seemed a little strange. On the other, it was not folly to have a belief. Beliefs were founded on things that had happened or that were reinforced by something. There was a reason that Iris felt the way that she did about the grim. Cora wouldn't berate, criticize, or say anything to degrade another's belief. The fact of the matter was that none of them wanted to be killed by grim and they could all agree on that.
That said.... "Have you ever noticed that when you are sullen or in a poor mood that things tend to go badly? I think Iris might be onto something."
However..... she couldn't agree with the idea of Pyro Jack being rigged to be more explosively dangerous when he was worn by a friend's head. Her face paled and she motioned for him to wait a moment.
"Um... Danny? Maybe we could think about rigging your helmet if we need to?" She nervously rubbed her head. "That is.... we don't know if we'll even need to fight a nevermore. We might run into the smaller ones more often and won't need a jet engine." ~~*~~

_________________________________________________Ariana nodded as she quietly listened to everyone with the group, they each differed greatly in both personality and opinion. She couldn't help but smile lightly as she read her mother's journal. "It's just as you said mother...a group of vastly different people is far more enjoyable than a group that thinks the same... She thought to herself as she took note of Iris' view on the grimm. Ariana shared a similar mindset on grimm as her mother, finding them more intriguing than threatening, what precisely created them? If they have no souls, how can they exist? They clearly have animal instincts, territories, even pack mentality in some of them. It was all quite interesting to her, one reason why she swore she'd complete her mother's journal now that she too was to be a huntress. "Well if all goes well, it shouldn't come to the need of crafting a missle of your weapon." Ariana spoke up, apparently listening to the conversations even as she had her nose in the book. Yet her eyes were clearly being substituted by Nia as she let out soft hoots of differing tones which told Ariana which way to step and if there were anything to trip upon ahead of her. This allowed Ariana to deftly dodge anything which could pose an issue in her reading, of course it was an interesting sight to see as well. "...Assuming it's movement patterns aren't too erratic, and it doesn't rain feathered arrows upon us to the point where we are unable to continue, I should be able to bring it down with a barrage of my Soul Flicker... The same technique I used to free your head from the tree." She paused as she looked back at Daniel. "But that was but a fraction of it... and only one. I can launch five at a time, or combine them into a single highly destructive one." She paused for a moment then nodded. "Given it is something which may be necessary to know for purposes of planning, shall I give a demonstration?" She asked as she looked towards the group and snapped the book shut then slid it into her jacket. "Nia, where the skies clear enough that I would not draw attention from the Nevermore?" Nia hooted and nibbled on Ariana's ear in response. "Good... Well then..."Ariana calmly stopped moving and cast her gaze upon a large rock. She closed her eyes for a moment then as she opened them blueish flames appeared about her body as volleyball sized wisps appeared around her. They circled around her but as she lifted her hand and pointed at the rock, the five spheres drifted up and spun faster before all launching simultaneously towards the rock. From how it appeared however, soon as they left her body, they took on the form of firey serpents and aggressively charged themselves at the rock. Opening their mouths moments before impact, suggesting they were sentient as the exploded upon contact. One after another after another, when the dust settled, bits of stone were strewn about, but where there had been a boulder, there was but a dusty crater. "Nia check around to see of anything else took notice." Nia hooted and immediately went to flying about the nearby area and checking for any signs of movement with her keen little eyes. Soon returning and hooting that she personally didn't see anything, but then again her range was somewhat limited given that she was connected to Ariana. "That is my Soul Flicker..." She said calmly as the aura flames around her body dissipated. "The combined form is far more destructive...but it moves very slowly and I have to remain still whenever I'm using either form..." She looked up at the treeline after she'd spoken and though for a moment before speaking again. "Between the four of us, I believe we should be able to take it down successfully... However I would like to avoid it however possible. But we should have a plan, in case things don't go according to how we wish."_________________________________________________

Iris KenmasutāRansurotto: [Inactive] [Active] Achilles Shield: [Inactive] [Active] Dust capsule: [Fire:2] [Water:2] [Wind:2] [Lightning:2] [Earth:2] [Ice:2] [Poison:2] [Darkness:2] [Light:2] [None]Semblance: Supporting Enhancements (strong); [Inactive] [Active] [Attack to:], [Defense to:]. [Speed to:], [Health to:], [Special attack to:], [Special defense to:] Equilibrium (weak); [Inactive] [Active] [Healing to], [Replenishing to] So he did think she was dumb. It didn't surprise Iris in the least. Ever since she and her brother withdrew from their home island they've found that many of their customs and beliefs are viewed as strange to the main landers; and some of the customs looked down upon. Iris felt that her religion was just one of those things not understood by main landers. It only stung the island girl because out of her whole team she felt closest to Danny.
"Have you ever noticed that when you are sullen or in a poor mood that things tend to go badly? I think Iris might be onto something." The island girl looking to the guardian as she caught her words. "Um... Danny? Maybe we could think about rigging your helmet if we need to?" Cora nervously rubbing her head as Iris shakes her head, thinking the idea to maybe be a little too "Danny" for good health. "That is.... we don't know if we'll even need to fight a nevermore. We might run into the smaller ones more often and won't need a jet engine." "Yeah, and if that happens you could always smash into a tree and swing it around like a bat." She joked, a little grin to the thought of such an ogreing weapon atop Danny's head.
"Well if all goes well, it shouldn't come to the need of crafting a missile of your weapon." Ariana spoke up, the goddess attentive to the conversation as much as she had been to her tome of knowledge. It was entrancing to watch her walk, now that Ariana speaks her piece. Iris couldn't help but admire the lady's grace and her command of the mystical. Like another set of eyes her familiar would see her path for her and she need only feel what they needed to communicate. What happened next only sealed the image of goddess in the eyes of the island girl and with glittered eyes Iris complemented on her idol. "That was so cool! It was like a furry of many star children." The star children aforementioned being the souls, with their auras, of other passed into the afterlife but allowed to freely roam earth rather than being reborn into the cycle. Since these Star Children are souls with their auras they have a visual effect much like Ariana's semblance; and much like Will-o'-the-wisp.
"You're so amazing Ariana! Honestly I think I'm luck to have wound up on this team. You're all so confidant and amazing. Make me wonder what was home like for all of you...I was born on an island so exploration of the unknown was limited but with how different mine and my older brother's living was I guess I never really knew just how good my island had it until now. Don't get me wrong, the world is a beautiful place but my heart swoons whenever I recall the sweet fragrance of the tropic nights by the beach. The sky always lit with the stars, each one a soul of a might ancestor, and the Soulstream, a river of light fix upon the heavens which sends down the many colors of auras and souls which will walk among the earth." A passionate memory rushed through her mind and her heart as she found herself hinging on that moment...the night her love had confessed his feelings for her; but then a sadness splashed her back to here and now. Thinking her self to have been droning on Iris shook her head, whisking away her silly talk, and then turned to her whole team. Speaking to any of them she ask, "That's a piece of my past, what about yours? The Nevermore still flying high but now seemingly attentive to something else far off in the distance. Perhaps it was some food or perhaps another team but whatever it was it had drawn the Nevermore away.

Daniel Redmond Crane Going over his words to Iris in response to her plan, Danny felt a bit bad. Perhaps "dumb" was too strong a word. Granted, his point of skepticism toward her idea to lure away the Nevermore with good vibes was a valid one, but he was worried that he'd come off as too harsh and hurt his friend's feelings. His smartass nature sometimes got him carried away, and he probably upset the island girl. He'd apologize for that later, as they were in the middle of something important.
Danny listened to Ariana's explanation, giving a nod. Her semblance would be a better way of hitting the bird than Danny's pumpkin rocket idea. When Iris mentioned a bit about her past, he figured he would answer her. "Well, I remember this one time I got lost in downtown Vale during a kindergarten trip. How the teacher lost a freaking horse kid, I have no idea." He began. "As I wandered, however, my initial panic left when I got the smell of fried food in my nose. The carnival was back in town, and I picked the best time to get lost! Cotton candy, cheap toys, and dunk tanks as far as the eye could see!" He continued, lost in his childhood for a moment. "Of course, the owner mistook me for one of the horses for the pony rides, and stuck me in the pen. One kid pulled my tail a lot. I threw him off face first into a pile of manure...which totally wasn't mine! That was there when I showed up!" He added, quick to defend himself. "So, yeah, surprises, snacks, and sweet, sweet revenge. I'd say that was a pretty good field trip. My parents grounded me for a year, but it was totally worth it!" He finished, chuckling.

My brother's luck was much like yours, where you end up going somewhere you didn't intend by it was were you needed to be, while mines is more of salvation in times of danger. I feel as though that explains why I've always been able to sense Grimm around. But that's for speculation."

- Can you see the light? As far as the eyes can see From this point above the world Where mortals dare their destiny. As it radiates May I witness open-eyed Let me remain where there is light.
The earthen warrior watched in a quiet awe as the display of aura and practiced skill took place. She watched and absorbed it, but at the end of it, she didn't feel that there was anything she could add to what Iris had said. She was content to smile and to wait. The conversation seemed to take a turn when Iris opened up the discussion to the group.
Past? Cora took a breath to steel herself. Her eyes drifted from the forest and to her shield, which ever hung on her arm, ready to be used and dutifully remaining nearby. Her hand began to trace the inner contours of the round shield that had been forged of earthen dust. It was arguably the least volatile of the elements, and some might have considered earth dust to not be anything magical or useful at all, as it didn't explode or give way. That was the trait that she liked most about it. It was stable, it was sturdy, and it could be trusted to hold firm when everything else was prone to falling apart. In some ways, it represented everything she wanted to be. Though she didn't know it, it was how she was seen in the eyes of a few others.
"I don't know if I should share.... My story isn't terribly interesting," she admitted softly. Since they were on the topic, and everyone else was sharing, she felt obliged to share and to talk. She didn't have anything to hide from them. "I don't remember when... but before I could remember, I lost my parents. I remember being taken care of in a large house with a lot of beds, and that I stayed with my brother when I was there. We grew up, and we looked out for each other, but life there wasn't easy for either of us. One day, we left to find our own home. It took us to the woods. My brother and I found a cottage there, and for many years, we were happy. We lived off the land, we felt safe, and we learned to take care of ourselves. It was hard. We were lucky enough to be saved from the grim-filled woods by a hunter who was traveling that way. He took us under his wing."
Her voice drifted off here and her expression grew more distant as her hand came to a stop with her fingers just grazing the edge of her shield. There was a mist to her eyes at this thought. This point of the story .... It always came. She took another breath and blinked to clear her eyes. She was partly successful. "He spoke with some of his colleagues and partners. They helped to send me here, to Beacon. I wouldn't have had the chance to, otherwise."
She turned from the group, intent to keep walking in pursuit of their current goal. ~~*~~

Daniel Redmond Crane Danny chuckled a bit at Iris's comments on luck. "I was born in fall, I think. Also, my luck isn't usually that good." He said. "There was that one time I broke my leg as a kid at the park. I was freaking out so bad because I heard what people did to horses with broken legs. Mom told me that didn't apply to faunus, so I was safe. It made me feel a bit better. Point is, I'm not exactly blessed. Just lucky whenever lady luck feels like throwing me a bone." He told his friend. "As for the Grimm thing, you might have been born with an ability to sense things like that, but let's face it, the only thing I know about genetics is that the night of my conception must have been horrifying, so it's anyone's guess." He joked.

Lord Hedo Iris KenmasutāRansurotto: [Inactive] [Active] Achilles Shield: [Inactive] [Active] Dust capsule: [Fire:2] [Water:2] [Wind:2] [Lightning:2] [Earth:2] [Ice:2] [Poison:2] [Darkness:2] [Light:2] [None]Semblance: Supporting Enhancements (strong); [Inactive] [Active] [Attack to:], [Defense to:]. [Speed to:], [Health to:], [Special attack to:], [Special defense to:] Equilibrium (weak); [Inactive] [Active] [Healing to], [Replenishing to] Iris had turned a bright shade of red and her hands tried holding back a laugh upon hearing that dirty joke from Danny. That's one of the things she liked about Danny, he didn't come censored and said it like it is; she did feel bad for his leg though. "Oh my gosh, I can believe you just said that! The advisors at court would have thrown a fit about that!" In her shock Iris accidentally let slip another low key fact about herself which dried her laughter a little but she let things go one without batting an eyelash about the slip. Would anyone catch on anyway she would just explain how things anyhow; as she and her brother have lied before.
With her grace Cora had saved Iris from continuing speaking but what Iris wasn't expecting was what would be said next. "I don't know if I should share...." "Eh? Why not Cora? "My story isn't terribly interesting" "But it's the different backgrounds which make us interesting. Besides, you can trust I won't belittle you." Hearing her story, Cora's true past, brought a slight tear to Iris' eyes. She didn't want this side of her being seen, the sensitive side of her, for fret of being called a crybaby and turned away just as her friend Cora did. "That's so inspirational Cora...I don't know how well I would have fared had that been me and Harthwin. You're so strong in spirit that it makes me feel lucky you were able to be here. I'm sure your brother is very proud of you too." Iris sniffled as she cleared up her eyes and adorned the face of "I wasn't crying" before looking to Cora with sincerity. Many at the academy may have had it rough but not many of them understand what it took to piggyback ride someone else through a stormy past. That's why, like her brother, she respected Cora's intelligence and valor.

- Can you see the light? As far as the eyes can see From this point above the world Where mortals dare their destiny. As it radiates May I witness open-eyed Let me remain where there is light.
Cora's smile was slight and small, perhaps a little uncertain of whether she would have considered her story to be inspirational or not. She had some gifts, yes, and unlike some that she came across in her schooling, she came with prior experience. She felt that had been her sharpest edge and that it gave her an advantage. Perhaps that was the thing she needed the most to even qualify for this school.
Nevertheless, it meant a great deal to hear the confidence and sincere praise that came from Iris. The green eyes turned back to Iris with an appreciative softness to them. She bowed her head slightly and though she wished to express the gratitude she felt from this, she couldn't find her throat or her voice cooperating enough to let her speak. She knew the letters she received from her brother. He was proud of her. She could hear his voice also speak confidently, speaking similarly to Iris. This time, Cora didn't try terribly hard to try and hide the way tears gathered just along her bottom eyelid. ~~*~~

Daniel Redmond Crane Danny wondered what Iris meant by advisors. Eh, he figured it was a thing back on her home islands. As Cora told her story, Danny was rather surprised. He was also impressed. He had to respect Cora's strength of spirit to make it this far. She was a smart girl, having more experience than most students, and he had to give her credit for that. Seeing a tear on Iris's face, he could tell the island girl was moved as well by Cora's story.
