 »» I may be bad If Jade's eyes could throw daggers, the Black Light dealers would be dead as Jade glared at them. She listened to Athena and nodded. 9a.m. was no problem. She didn't have anything going on the next day except the heist. She smiled and nodded.
Jade watched the dealers move out when Athena dismissed them. She thought about catching one by the arm, but a scene in front of Athena would not be good, on her part. Jade stayed and watched Athena walk down to her. She knew that she would need to give a reason for her tardiness.
"I had to get a refill," she said and pulled out a new bottle of medication, from her jacket. "Someone's been getting into my medication and the pharmacist wasn't going to give me any more," her eyes showed implication. Sure, she didn't have proof but it wasn't like her medication was a secret either. She needed it. It wasn't an addiction. She had a seven day pill box that she kept her medicine in for a week. When she went to refill it, there was enough for one day. That was six pills that someone stole from her. "I would have been here early if I didn't have to argue with them," she said honestly.
She wasn't about to tell her that she stopped by her brother's room. They didn't even have the same last name, so unless someone told on her, no one would find out. She never even signed the visitors' log. Her brother was a rookie cop battling the last bit of cancer. It wouldn't matter to the gang that he was blood, just that he was a cop. One that could be easily taken out. Jade hoped that when he got better the police wouldn't let him back on. That would make it so much easier to deal with the cops.

╰ │ ╯ Nic sat up, slowly, the moment that Jade's footsteps were out of hearing distance. He knew that she never turned back. She hardly ever forgot anything, in her life. He smiled at the nurse who had walked in and frowned when he saw the sponge and bin.
"This is going to be a heartbreaking question," he teased. "But can't I just use the shower? Doc says I'm getting better."
The nurse thought for a minute and checked the doctor notes. "I suppose we can give it a try," she said and left to get a shower chair. Nic sighed. Next week, they would be moving him to an assisted living home. He felt old, when they told him that, but at least it was a step in the right direction. Better to need assistance than to need a coffin.
Still, he didn't know how he was going to break the news to Jade. He would have to talk to her on her next visit. That was something that he had been avoiding, ever since the nurse mentioned that she was a Black Light. They had promised each other to stay away from gangs. He planned on going back on the force. Jade being part of any gang, would make his job that much worse.
Anya returned with the chair and helped Nic to the bathroom. She told him that she would be waiting outside the door, if he needed help. Nic nodded and waited for her to leave before turning on the water, undressing and stepping into the shower.
Take your aim. Fire away. Fire away!

 ⚔Standing on guard
For the ones that we sheltered. Eliot sat for a few minutes, glancing over "Women's Health" magazine. He smirked and wondered just how many men read it becaus of the smoking hot bodies pasted across the pages. He watched the big screen television and decided that he had enough of Bill Cosby. If it were cartoons, he wouldn't mind. He loved cartoons, but there were no kids around and the older people seemed to be enjoying the show.
He flipped through a few more magazines and decided that he had done about all of the waiting that he could. He hated to sit still. So, he got up and walked out to his car. The moment he sat down and turned the key, his cell phone rang.
"Wolf," he answered, not used to anyone calling him much more than that.
"Detective Hayden," the voice of a female, he connected to one of the nurses that he spoke with earlier.
"Yes, this is Detective Hayden," he said and debated whether or not to turn the key. "Is he awake?"
"Yes, he is awake now and willing to answer questions before his family gets here."
"Alright, I will be up there in a minute," Eliot said. He hung up the phone, pulled his key out of the ignition and walked back to the floor that he had just left.

Leader ✵Death will not ignore you......✵ Athena pulled out a bag of 4 pills. "You mean these? I recognized them to be different from what the dealers use. I dealt with them already. You shouldn't have a problem with them anymore. If you do, please feel free to let me know. I may just have to take some out." Athena handed the bag to Jade. Athena then walked to the door of the warehouse. "Get some rest."
Athena walked out to her own bike and mounted it. "See you tomorrow." She said as she placed her helmet on and took off towards her home, the same home she lived in with her mother. It was the one place she could get away from gang life. No one knew about it except those who needed to know. When Athena pulled up, the building was dark except that one old lady's place that now has a couple living in it. Athena should just kick them out, but she doesn't have the heart to.
Athena bought the building from the old landlord shortly after becoming the leader of the Black Lights. Athena climbed up the stairs to her top floor apartment. This was one building the owner didn't want to touch. Athena didn't know why. It was a good looking building and Athena made sure she kept it up and in great shape. But something kept him away and for that Athena was kinda glad.
She opened the door and placed her helmet on the small table in the entrance way with her keys next to it. She picked up the mail and saw that someone else was interested in renting one of the apartments. She opened the rent of the one other tenet and then opened the application for renting an apartment. She plopped down on her couch and read it over. She sighed and placed it on her coffee table before heading to her room and heading for the shower. ✵....He is on his way✵ Location: Warehouse

White Lies
Techie ✵Hacking is all I know.✵ Alana was sitting in her father's house in her room. She had come home to have her daddy pay off the card that she just made a purchase with. However she got roped into staying for dinner. So to spend the time, she went up to her old room and decided to pass her time playing some app games. Alana was the techie for White Lies and no one in her family knew it. The same with no one, except the leader of the White Lies, knew that she was the owner of the city, Cameron Jacob Mathews's, daughter. She was his oldest. She had 3 younger brothers, Cameron Jacob, Jr., Maurice William, and Harry Arnold.
Alana was the oldest of the three and had already been through college, even though she didn't officially graduate, she still finished school. Little Cameron, or Little Cami, knocked on her door. "Hey sis. I'm glad you came home. Dad won't stop trying to get me to come to that new bank opening. I was wondering if you would go in my place since you are the oldest." Great...there went her plan to help the White Lies get some money in their grimy little hands. She sighed. "Fine. I will talk to Father about it when he gets home. But for now, get your butt out of my room!" She threw a pillow at the door he just left out of.
She loved her brothers and she could tell that they hated their father just as much as she did. The oldest brother of the three had just finished his second year of high school. The middle was getting ready to enter High school and the youngest was getting ready to enter Middle school. She told her father that there were better schools, the original schools of the town that have yet to be redone, but her father insisted that they go to the ones he built as his first project after buying the small town. Alana always kept in touch with the oldest with the phone she secretly bought for him. Her father bought him one too and he uses it with friends and such, but he only uses the phone his sister bought to keep in touch with her.
Alana laid in her bed and shot Little Cami a text. 'Cami, how is father treating you boys?' A text came back just mere moments after she sent hers. 'He is still going on how when I become a sr in hs that he is gonna build a college for all the sr's. 1 that focuses on business and tech.' That is what she was afraid of. Alana knew her brother was interested in cooking. He was really good at it. Her youngest was the only one interested in taking over the business when he was older, but being completely opposite of their father...Alana needed to help them...but she couldn't. ✵I only learned things in College.✵ Location: Father's house

»» I may be bad Jade eyed the bag and nodded. The four pills were hers. Four pills, that still meant that two were missing and had probably already been sold by the time Athena got to the dealers. "Thanks," she murmured when the leader of the Black Lights said that she had already taken care of it. Jade wasn't usually the kind of person that liked to hide behind someone else. She would rather face the problems head on and deal with them alone, but Athena beat her to it, fair and square. Jade may have gotten the chance if that pharmacist hadn't been arguing with her for so long.
Jade pocketed the pills and nodded, dumbly when Athena told her to get some rest. Rest wasn't something that came easily for Jade. She used to take pills for that too, but she found that the sleep aids made it worse, so she stopped. She hated pills. Hated hospitals. Still, she tolerated them.
Jade watched Athena leave and checked the area for other Black Lights that might want to try and sneak a jump. Luckily, there weren't any nearby. Jade placed her helmet on her head, hopped on her motorcycle and zipped on home. It was a tiny two room house not far from the meeting grounds of the Black Lights. Black Lights were always around and that was what helped Jade feel safe. She lived alone but she had won over quite a few of the gang members. She had proved herself in heists and in brawls.

it's a game we play to win Romeo left the meeting anticipating the events that would occur the next day. He noticed that Athena and Jade didn't leave right away and he wondered what kind of punishment Jade would get. She was never late before but gang life wasn't easy and sometimes mistakes were unexcused.
He hopped in his steel-toned car and drove off. He thought about texting Jade. He always seemed to take the younger ones under his wing but Jade was the youngest so far, and the newest. Romeo pulled into a gas station and pulled out his cell phone. He had Jade's number. He had everyone's number.
"Hey girl, u aight?" he texted her before filling up his gas tank, paying for it and driving to his mom's apartment.

»» I may be bad Jade set her keys and phone on the kitchen counter, then turned to her fridge and pulled out a cold bottle of water. Her phone vibrated once, and only once. She glared at the phone, it was just a text. She was hoping that someone would call her. No, she was hoping that Nic would call her.
She downed the bottle of water and opened the text message from Romeo. He was the tech of the Black lights and Jade was told not to be surprised if he kept in touch. One, he was well liked with the ladies, but Jade didn't care about that. Secondly, he was pretty much a brother to everyone. Jade figured that was how a gang was supposed to work, they were supposed to be family.
She read the text and shook her head. Yeah, I'm fine, she texted back and set her phone back on the counter. She was fine. Still a little miffed at the dealers but it wasn't her place to handle them anymore. Jade pulled out her filled script and the empty daily pill box. She put one tablet in every day and shut them all before wondering what to do next.

If you're look'n for a beat'n...you've come to the right place. Cesar woke up to his alarm going off. He slammed the button down and pried the covers off of him. He wasn't much of a morning person, which made it a good thing that it was the middle of the day. He walked to the bathroom, took a shower and slipped on his "Night Life" uniform.
He liked the club well enough and his boss seemed to like him. He was a no bull kind of guy and it showed. He would play the games that the young ladies tried to pull, but in the end, he always won. The black shirt and black jeans fit him well. The club didn't open for another few hours but Cesar usually went in early to help set up and grab a drink.
Cesar poured himself a cup of coffee and wondered what the rest of the gang was up to. Things had been quiet lately, which was strange. It also meant that something big was going down real soon.

it's a game we play to win Romeo opened the door to his mom's tiny apartment and poked his head in. He could smell the home made chicken pies that she had promised to make for him. "Momma," he called. "I'm home."
A little, rather round, lady came around the corner. She was beaming with joy as she squished Roman's face between her hands and kissed his cheeks while he hugged her. "Roman," she scolded playfully. "I thought you had work today."
"I had some errands," Roman said with a shrug, which he new better than to do around his mom. "But I have work tomorrow." His pocket rang and he checked his phone. It was a text from "Raven", which was his tech name for Jade. He tried to give his contacts superhero names, so that if he ever got caught by the police, they couldn't pull any names from his phone.
"Mama, Ima be back," he said as he walked down the hall. "I have to make a call." The little woman frowned at her son and opened the oven to check the pies. Roman listened to the phone ring, as he waited for Jade to pick up.

Leader ✵Death will not ignore you......✵ Athena got out and changed for bed. She pulled out her phone and shot Romeo a text. She used him to get background checks done. He was one that knew exactly where she lived. The others were the muscle of the gang, the messenger, and the Doctor. Everyone else knew the general area but that was about it. 'Hey Ro. I need ya to check on Carl Jepson. He put in an app for an apartment.' On the other hand, Romeo was the only one who knew she owned the building. She made sure that each tenet wasn't a cop. If she let a cop move in, then that would mean trouble for her. She also had to make sure that they weren't White Lies. The apartment building was in the heart of the Black Lights territory but close to border enough that a White Lie could think about moving in. 'Need it by Fri. So no rush.' Athena sent as an after thought.
Athena laid down on her couch again as a black cat poked his head out from underneath it. "Hey Neo. Sorry I kept you alone for so long." She stroked the cat's head as he purred. Neo was a rescue cat. She found him and his siblings roaming the streets one night as she was walking home from dinner at the small cafe down the road from the building. Neo took a liking to her and followed her home that night and she had him since. His full name is Neon Lane, because that is what the name of the street was changed too shortly after this owner guy took over the small town. But she always calls him Neo and that is what he responds to.
Neo has become the unofficial mascot of the Black Lights. There were a couple of times where she knew she wouldn't be home for a couple of days and she would bring him with her to the warehouse. Even those who don't like cats likes Neo. He acts like a dog at times and loves to play fetch.
Athena looked down to her black fur ball and scratched his chin before sitting up. Looking at the clock, Athena turned on the TV to just have it on. It was too early in the day to go to bed, but there was not much else to do but to wait. She was gonna wait and use some of the money that she gets in rent to put it towards getting herself a laptop. Even though her phone was connected to the internet, it would help her not be so reliant on Romeo all the time. Plus her building was just fitted with Fiber Optics, thanks to the help of Romeo, and internet was fast. But it didn't help with the fact that she still needed to have a computer to use it's full potential. ✵....He is on his way✵ Location: Home

»» I may be bad Jade listened to the mundane ringtone on her phone and stared at it. Her heart leapt, thinking that Nic was calling. Then, it sank when she saw it was Roman. She thought about letting it go to voicemail, but she had just texted him. It wasn't like she could say that the phone wasn't by her.
"Yeah," she said when she answered. She stared at the old television set, in the living room, so that she would have something to focus on. She hated talking on the phone. She would much rather talk in person or text, but not talk on the phone. She was always afraid that there would be a police officer on the other end.

Techie ✵Hacking is all I know.✵ Alana sighed....maybe she can lie and say work called and that she was taking Cami. That is what she would do. Then she would go over to the club that lies in White Lies territory and use the private room and talk with Cami. Eat dinner and then bring him home. She had to figure out how to hide her identity from all the cameras or the rest of the White Lies would find out. 'Hey. Wanna go to da club? I'll lie.' Alana sent Cami. Lying. That is all she seemed to be doing when she was around here....not to her brothers. They knew she was in the White Lies....and they wanted to join to but she refused to let them join. She even told the leader if Cami or the other two were to ask to join to send them to her to drag back home. Alana has brought Cami to the warehouse once to pick up something and that is when they found out that she had a brother....only him though. They don't know about the other two.
And she wanted it to stay that way. 'Yeah. I wanted to talk to you alone.' He sent back. She then got up and rushed down the stairs. "Mom! I have to go to work...They have something there for Cami. So he is going with me." She yelled and her mom bid her a farewell and told her to have him back by 11. She rolled her eyes and Cami walked out the door with her.
Her convertable sat in the driveway. They had just got in the car when her father pulled up in his Bentley. She didn't care though. As soon as he was parked next to her, she started backing up. She didn't want to talk to him....not now. She drove to the club and parked in the back. She always parked there. She popped the trunk and walked inside and saw Cesar. "Ces. Can you help me carry in some boxes of beer glasses. I bought some new ones for the bar since the dealer and right hand got into a brawl in here last week." Cami carried in one of the boxes as she headed out to get her laptop and her tablet. She started her car to put the top up. She made sure that she didn't leave it down while she was here. No one dared to steal it but she did find one of the gang members banging some girl in the back seat one time. ✵I only learned things in College.✵ Location: Club

it's a game we play to win Romeo listened to Jade's phone ring while waiting for her to pick up. His phone beeped at him and he glanced at it. There was a text message from Goddess, wanting a background check on some dude. Romeo turned his computer on as he waited for Jade.
He was beginning to think that she wasn't going to pick up but then she did. Yeah? That's all Romeo get's? Girl, please!
"Yo, Jade, I was wondering if you wanted to hit up the club tonight," he said as his computer came to life and he typed in the longest, most nerdy password. "Some of the boys and I are going. You know, to let loose before the big deal."
Romeo opened a few digital windows, typed a bunch of binary phrases and finally typed in the name that Athena wanted a background check on. Carl Jepson. He had done so many background checks for Athena that he could almost do it in his sleep.
Roman's phone beeped again and he glanced at the new text. Shi,,,coulda told me that b'fore I turned on the computer. He put the phone back to his hear and waited for Jaded to reply.

If you're look'n for a beat'n...you've come to the right place. Cesar was talking with the bartender when Alana walked in. He tried not to watch her, but he always found himself doing just that. When she asked him to help her carry boxes in, he didn't mind. With other people, he did mind, sometimes. But never with her.
"You got it," he said with smirk that only the bartender caught. He wanted to say something about how he didn't get to be the muscle by sitting on his thumbs, but decided against it. He walked out to Alana's car. He knew it well enough. It was a sweet ride, he had to admit and wondered where someone could get money for such a ride and all those gadgets she was always carrying around.
He remembered the brawl. He had to break them up, and got pegged in the chest a few times but their punches were weak. He would give them a D for effort. Cesar stacked the boxes, on top of each other, and carried them in while Alana put the top of her car up. "Looks like you get presents," he told the bartender as he set the boxes on the bar.
