Juno is Black
May is Blue
May 3, 2008

May frowned as she stood in front of a shop window in the shopping plaza. Not only had she lost Tango as soon as he spotted the music store, but now she was stuck to do the shopping alone. Ah, well, she was certain the young boy wouldn’t be able to entertain himself long with only five dollars to his name. Personally, she couldn’t fathom how a child could lose picks so often, it was rather annoying.

Running a hand through her short hair she returned her attention to staring at the shop window again. To get Raito the pocket watch or not.... get...or not... She wasn’t sure if the young male would enjoy that as a ‘welcome’ gift, and she was reluctant to waste her money on anything he wouldn’t want. Especially something so expensive. Biting down on her lip she turned to scan the crowd for anyone who might be able to give her valid advice on what to do.

"Now I could have sworn I had seen that shop around here the other day," Juno murmured to herself as she spun in a circle where she stood, her eyes tearing through the shop windows in search of the jewelers. It was nearing her sister's birthday and she had wanted to get her the traditional present of the jeweled necklace of the coven. She tugged on her own necklace as she frowned and walked towards the left, hoping that it was the right direction.

It wasn't long before she found herself passing the shop and doubling back. By the time she was standing in front of her shop, her sleeves were pushed up to her elbows and her hair was slightly matted down from sweat. Her clothes felt as if they weighed a ton from the abrupt warm weather, too warm for spring. Juno brushed away the wet strands of hair in her eyes with the back of her right hand.

"Finally!"

The young woman had been ready to give up, her only motivation being a quiet chant to herself that her sister was worth the trouble. And a reminder that others had gone through similar troubles for when she had turned of age. Taking a deep breath, Juno smiled and reached for the shop's door.

May watched, slightly amused, as young girl walked through the shop’s door. After a shrug, she turned her attention for a final time to the window. She sighed in defeat before walking into the store behind the young girl. She still, really had no idea if she should get the boy the gift or not, but she was certain someone inside would be able to help.

She spotted the girl from before out of the corner of her eye as she made her way down the isle. Mind as well take a look around.

Before she could properly start her quest, the door opened again with a loud screech of her name. Her head turned to the familiar voice only to see a head of red and orange crash into the aforementioned young woman.

“Tango...”

Not even a five minutes after entering the jeweler's shop, Juno found herself knocked off her feet. And it wasn't because of the spectacular pieces on display. Her hand instinctively reached for her necklace, tracing it's design before she straightened the side bag on her shoulder. Looking around, the woman found herself at the feet of a boy with bright red-orange hair. Slowly, she picked herself off the ground and brushed the dust off herself before turning back to the boy.

Juno waited a second, her cobalt eyes scanning the boy before asking, "Are you all right?"

Tango’s emerald orbs narrowed at the woman, as if blaming her for being in his way in the first place. Instead of giving her a typical response he gave a noncommital grunt and dragged himself off of the ground, his hands finding their way into his pockets. Tch. How annoying. He just wanted to see if May would give him a few extra coins for some new strings, and he had to run into someone without enough of a brain to get out of his way.

May, who’d been watching the situation, quickly moved in before Tango could let out a snide remark. Her hand found it’s way to his shoulder and squeezed, her own silent warning. The boy left his mouth shut as his mother smiled warmly. “I’m so sorry about that...you know how young boys can be.”

Juno's eyes were cold as she watched the boy carefully before she turned to face the woman. She smiled, the ice fleeing from her now bright eyes, "I only have sisters, but I'm sure boys are a handful."

Her fingers itched to do a bit of twitching followed by a few select words, but the woman held her tongue. The boy did appear to be young and so she let it slide as she remembered her own younger sisters at his age. But then again, mother had also been very strict about manners and no one ever went against mother.

"And it was an accident so there's nothing to worry about. No one's hurt so let's just forget about it." Juno bowed her head slightly and said, "But where are my manners. I'm Juno Park."

Juno felt as if she had crawled up the stairs with a piano tied to her back as she dropped herself on her own bed with a great sigh. The shopping was finally done. Why was shopping such a pain? And why did other women. She held up the small package that held Mini’s birthday gift and grinned. It was perfect. Flipping over on the bed, the witch stretched across the bed and slipped the package into the draw of her night stand. Hopefully the birthday girl won’t go snooping around for her presents.

Eyes closed, Juno laid on her bed with the sandman tempting her into a nap, but duty beckoned. She groaned as she got up from the bed and walked towards the packages she had sent home earlier. It was time to set up for the party and make Mini’s ceremony preparations. The ceremony itself was simple, but if Juno messed up on even the tiniest thing then she would be hearing no end of it from her sisters.

The shopping bags loomed at her, promising mischief and misery if she didn’t hurry and begin her work. Damn bossy things, she thought as she carefully dumped everything on the floor. She loved working on the polished hardwood floor of her room. It was miserable on her bottom, but the cool slick floor gleamed with beauty. And it was just so nice to lie down after she bled and sweated over little spells and potions.

Soaking up the cool of the floor, Juno slouched before sitting up straight Indian style. There wasn't any time to lose. Reaching into her shopping bag she began to pull out the necessary ingredients and grabbed her tools from the bottom drawer of her dresser. The plan of attach was to slice the lemons and crush the strawberries neatly to then quick dry and then to grind them up into a fine powder. But when did things ever go the way they were planned?

After three hours of being slumped over a small cutting board and pestle, the young witch fell backwards with eyes skyward as she released a sigh of relief. “Finally done!” she exclaimed as she ruffled her hair before rolling onto her knees.

She stared at the mess she had made with the small area of neatness left where she had sat. Rolling her eyes, Juno began to pick up her tools and gather them in Tupperware and sweep her floor. A groan slipped out as she noticed the red stains on her beautiful floor. Her room was to reek of lemons and strawberries forever. Normally she wouldn't have minded except that the scents were sharp and she could only endure such smells for short periods of time. How her sister liked the smell amazed her.

“Oh,” she commented to herself as she walked towards the semi-empty shopping bags, “I forgot about the new incense I bought.” Juno pulled the incense out of the bag and sniffed it lightly, “Hmm... blue moon. This seems like a light enough of a scent to drown out the strawberry lemon without bringing a migraine.”

Lighting a candle, she set the incense burner on her nightstand before grabbing the tupperware full of dirty tools. Juno swept the door open when she noticed a curious thing about the smoke from the incense. It was as if the smoke was in shape of orbs and one of them appeared to be in the shape of a crescent. Juno eyed the smoke for a few seconds before shrugging her shoulders. What was there to be surprised about? The world was full of magic, this she knew better than most as she was a witch.

The smoke and scent chased after her as she left her room for the kitchen. “Still... I wonder if it means anything,” she muttered to herself as she turned back to look at the odd smoke. “Wonder what kind of surprise is in store for me. Or maybe I'm just over-thinking it,”she told herself as she laughed sheepishly. “Yea, that's probably it. The smoke is just a lovely effect of the incense. A visual delight as well as an aromatic one.”

Quote:
Having remembered something you needed to do, you ran out of your home quickly, forgetting all about the burning oils inside. You return content, having completed your task only to find a small child wandering the halls of your home, leaving oily foot steps behind, leading to a cracked burner, and split candle wax. Describe your reaction, and how you deal with the oil tracking child.

The moon hung brightly in the velvet sky as Juno made her way back from a gathering. Her sisters had demanded that she make an appearance and so she had, garbed from head to toe in her training suit. Mini had been shocked and had berated her dear older sister mercilessly, though Juno had argued in her defense that she had just arrived after a small jog. The conversation had ended quickly enough when Mini gave her a raised eyebrow and ushered Juno to the other sisters.

Thank the heavens that she had worn a track suit. The evening had ended up being a sort of cooking-bonanza though rather than food, Juno's coven had been working on some nifty spells and potions. And how well those potions blew up in one's faces, especially if a sister used you as a shield.

At the gate of her home, Juno couldn't help but stare. It was stunning. The sight of the house being lined by the silver light of the moon that embraced it. Taking a slow, deep breath, Juno took in the sight and crisp night air before walking in. She couldn't wait to shower and get the smells of mandrake root and newts eye out of her hair and clothes.

The air was heavy, laced with the a familiar fragrance. Standing in the middle of her doorway, Juno frowned as she raked her mind to identify the smell. It wasn't any plants she had in the living room and it certainly was the scent of the soaps in the house. A light flashed within her mind, a candle.

“Oh sh--!” Juno cried as she ran up the stairs only to slip and fall at the top. She had left her incense burner on, having remembered about the gathering only in the midst of her workout. The fall brought logic back into Juno's mind, a fire cannot start if the incense oil runs out. Nothing to worry about, Juno sighed in relief. Slowly, she began to feel the ache on her tail bone from the fall as she tried to get back on her feet.

Juno stared down at her hand. It was smeared with... oil? Why was there oil on her stairs? Giving up with trying to discern the crime scene by the moonlight slipping through her curtained hall window, Juno flipped the light switch only to have her jaw drop. There were little tiny foot prints of oil all over her cherry wood floors.

A horrified scream of anger swelled at the base of her throat as she clenched and unclenched her hands, her nails digging into the palms of her hands. Wrinkling her forehead, Juno followed the foot prints, which apparently went into every room of the house before she was brought to her rather chilly bedroom.

Her balcony doors were open wide as the sheer silver curtains danced softly in the cool night breeze. From behind the curtains, Juno could make out a small figure. A figure small enough to be the one responsible for the foot prints. Catching a curtain with her hands, she slowly swept it aside to see a little girl with the most serene yet mysterious expression ever.

“Who are you?”

The little girl cocked her head to the side, her silver hair spilling over her shoulder.

“Do I know you?”

Again, a silent response, but this time the child smiled as if she knew everything there was to know. Juno, unnerved, hugged her arms, she didn't like the feeling as if the child could see through and into her.

“What are you doing here?”

This time the child moved, gracefully, which couldn't be said of Juno, towards Juno's bed. Slowly, the little girl climbed into bed and laid down on her side. Juno waited a second, maybe two, before she tip-toed her way over to her own bed. The girl was fast asleep. Juno couldn't help but stare at the child, she was as pale as a porcelain doll, and there was the most mysterious marking of... a crescent moon?

Phoebe is Black
Abilene is Blue
February 10, 2009

Phoebe sat quietly in the children section of the library with a picture book spread open before her. The little girl was silent and still as she took in the images of the fairy tale. Flipping through the pages steadily, Phoebe eventually came to the end. She smiled a little at the happy ending, the princess and the prince had gotten married.

Blue and silver eyes searched the library and Juno was still at her little table scribbling whatever it was she was writing. Phoebe picked up her book and went to the bookshelves. Slipping the book back in it's place, she browsed the titles of the books, her index finger skimming across the spines of books as she walked by.

Abilene had also been placed in the children's section of the library by Kaya, who had quickly gone off, telling the little girl not to kidnapped. Apparently her guardian felt she was perfectly safe on her own, and it was true that she seemed mature enough. She looked down to the book in her lap, mesmerized with the vivid pictures, only barely skimming over the text. Indeed, Abilene wasn't truly grasping the story so much as the images.

She sighed contentedly as she reached the end, setting the book down and absentmindedly taking another from the small mountain of books she'd built when she'd found out she was to remain here for at least a few hours. Despite being a child even Abilene noted Kaya's irresponsibility much of the time. "Ahh..." She murmured appreciatively, observing the pictures of her newest book. Kaya had taught her to appreciate images or else she might have actually read the books.

The book shelves created a small cubicle like space with the white walls of the library and within that small space towers of book began to form as Phoebe greedily took book after book from the shelves. She stopped when she had three stacks up to her waist and stared at the books. How was she suppose to carry those back to the reading area? There was the option of making multiple trips back and forth, but it was less than appealing.

A twinkle shone from her eyes as she pushed the books to the opening between the two bookshelves. If she couldn't carry the books back then she'll just have to stay with the books, to protect them so no one could take them. Her three stacks blocked half the entrance to her small sanctum before Phoebe began to pull more books off the shelf.

Phoebe was working on her last stack, the one that would complete the wall, when she dropped a much too heavy children's encyclopedia over her wall. The books crashed to the ground, all her efforts destroyed. The girl shook her head, white and blue strands of hair spilling her face, and gave a sigh before she started picking up her books.

As she followed a trail of books, she found herself beside another neat pile of books next to a small girl with white and pink hair. Settling the books she had picked up next to the neat pile, Phoebe swept her dress beneath her legs and sat down beside the other girl.

"Hello," Phoebe greeted softly with a small smile.

Abilene's dark golden eyes flicked up to watch the pile of books come tumbling down, curiosity and mild alarm written on her face as she watched the girl who came out of the area with the bookshelves. Abilene placed her book down carefully, standing to try and help the girl neatly pile the books in much the same way she tried to organize things at the apartment she lived in with Kaya.

"Hello," She replied, her lips curving up very slightly as she seated herself again. She did not interact much with other children because of her demure personality and so having another child greet her was something she almost considered victorious.

Now Abilene found herself smiling uncertainly, wishing to speak to the girl, but also wishing to step back over to her book. Her anti-social nature certainly wasn't helping her case. Still, Kaya would be thrilled if she found out Abilene had made a friend other than an animal or a plant.

She would leave her book for now, but this was only for Kaya. She was absolutely loyal to the woman who loved her so much and was determined to please her. "How are you?" Abilene inquired in a manner that was close to rehearsed in nature. Her pink-stained skin took on slightly darker color as she watched Phoebe closely, probing for a reaction.

The lotus child was mature, but she was no ice queen. She desired friends like every other little girl.

Phoebe cocked her head to the side and gave a mysterious smile that make her eyes crinkle at the edges. She liked the feeling that the other girl gave off, though she wasn't quite sure what it was. Not that she ever really understood why she felt attracted to somethings and appalled by others. Juno was always telling her how she was such a 'mysterious child' but Phoebe just assumed that Juno didn't understand.

Holding her hand out, the moon child greeted, "I'm Phoebe. Would you like to help me build a sanctuary?"

Abilene grinned awkwardly as she noted the smile the other girl was sending her. She... appreciated it, she supposed. It was hard to say. The usually-calm girl was feeling a rush; indeed, it seemed to be making her slightly hyper. The feeling of accomplishment she was deriving from this moment was overpowering. It looked like she was making an actual friend, which excited the child beyond words.

"My name is Abilene." She responded, nodding in agreement to Phobe's suggestion although it confused her to some extent. "Is that what you were doing before your books fell?" She queried, her eyes growing wide with curiosity. Her book lay forgotten on the ground near her; her obligations to Kaya no longer remained either. She was doing this as much for herself than anyone else now.

The child smiled without a thought now, eager to be normal.

Excited at having an accomplish, Phoebe quickly explained, "Yup. There's just so many books that I want to read and no way for me to carry them all out. So I figured that if I built a sanctuary closed from intruders, and anyone else who might want to take the books I want, then I could read as many as I want and not worry." The girl quickly stood up and took a hold of Abilene's hands and pulled her into messy space. "It could be like our castle or fortress."

Phoebe was excited and ready to bounce up and down. With two people, the job would be done faster and it would be more fun in general. Already her small brain was racing with ideas and possible games they could play within their sanctuary.

"Oh! We could built them like castles too. With towers!"

Abilene continued to smile at Phoebe's explanation, looking excited. "Yes!" She replied, the color rising in her cheeks as she glanced around the already slightly enclosed space she'd been led into. This would be perfect! She carefully side-stepped a few books, glancing around and allowing her imagination to run wild as she asessed the area. It certainly had potential in the eyes of the young girl.

"Mhhm!" She agreed, bending at the waist to start to pick up a few books to pile up. "They just can't fall." Abilene added cautiously, stacking the thin children's books one on top of the other with a look of concentration.

This would be their fortress; it could easily serve as hours of entertainment.

Phoebe stacked the books eagerly, impatient for the sanctuary to be complete. As she began a new stack, Phoebe noticed that she could very well make a winding tower or stair case. More than excited at the idea of something other than a neat wall of books, the little girl began to place every other book out of position. It reminded her more of a tower, a tower that would someone like Rapunzel would be locked up in to keep the world away from her by the evil witch.

Glancing to her side, Phoebe peeked at the neat and pristine half that Abilene was working on.

Abilene continued to work on her pile, still placing books over books very carefully. Her pile shot straight up into the air and not a book was out of place. In the girl's mind, that was how it was supposed to be. Kaya had called her OCD before, but she appreciated order and cleanliness. Abilene didn't think there was anything really compulsive about her behavior at all. Life was easier with order.

Abilene's eyes soon strayed and she let loose a soft, horrified gasp as she assessed Phoebe's pile of books. It was extremely hard not to mention anything; not only did it look disorganized in her eyes, but it also looked like it had the ability to fall down and crush her!

The little girl placed the last of her books on her somewhat spiraling wall before dusting her hands off. "Done!" She gave a large smile Abilene and said, "Now we need an evil witch, a princess and a prince. Hm... maybe a dragon too?"

Phoebe's mind raced with ideas on playing out a fairy tale with Abilene and was just about to reveal her master mind of a plan when Juno appeared to reclaim the little moon child's attention. Instructed by her guardian to bid her new friend good bye, Phoebe turned to Abilene and gave her a quick hug and winked.

"See you soon, Abilene."

Phoebe and Juno are Black
Remi and Lizzy are Blue
February 10, 2009

The pet store was a quaint little place. It was small enough to make it feel homey but large enough to store cages for the many types of animals. Remi had her face pressed against the plastic of a hamster cage watching the wheel spin round and round and getting excited with each spin.

Lizzy gazed crucially at each animal and more importantly the price tag. She loved all animals but when it came to choosing the right one that was another matter. Glancing back at the Scent she smiled as she watched the orange hair flop as the small body bounced on her tiptoes to excited to sit still.

Phoebe was certain that Juno was lagging behind on purpose just to irritate her. Who wouldn't be excited about going into a pet shop? Dragging Juno along by the arm, Phoebe barged into the pet shop as she bounced from display to display, marveling at the various types of animals. She lingered around the kittens for awhile then moved on to see the hamsters, she skipped the snakes and lizards, disgusted.

Tired and ready to pass out, Juno followed reluctantly as Phoebe nearly pulled her arm out of it's socket. The two of them had been up since early in the morning, which was amazing since Phoebe nearly never slept. How could such a night owl get up at sunrise? Juno wondered as she trailed behind the excited little girl. Bed and a hot mug of coffee was all that was on Juno's mind as she ignored the adorable faces of the animals.

Getting dizzy from watching the wheel Remi pushed herself back from the cage to balance on the balls of her heels. Giggling as the little cinnamon colored hamster looked at her with shiny black eyes Remi hardly noticed the taller girl also approaching the hamster and small animal area.

Keeping her eye on the little giggler Lizzy's eye was caught by an adorable little pup. He looked at her with such big puppy dog eyes that Liz melted on the spot. Boy was she a sucker for the puppy dog eyes.

Standing straight with naturally perfect posture, Phoebe watched alongside another girl as a hamster ran on it's wheel. It was cute with his pudgy little body. She figured it was small enough to fit inside her pocket and it as just so cute that she wanted to giggle when she over heard the other girl giggling. Phoebe glanced at the other child and softly spoke, "Cute little thing, isn't he?"

Juno stood just across the aisle from Phoebe, leaning against a wall. A sudden low, yet loud bark made her jump, her heart racing, from beside her. There right behind where she had been leaning was a huge puppy that was up against the glass. Juno grinned tiredly at the puppy, "Go away pup. I'm tired." The pup in response merely barked again, his tail wagging happily.

"Yea! He's really cute! But I think I want to get a puppy or kitty! Much easier to cuddle with." Giggling again she glanced at the girl and was surprised when she looked into a silver and a blue eye. "Woah you have cool eyes!"

Looking at the little tan and white pup Lizzy reached her hand out to it. Coming closer the puppy licked her fingers making the older woman laugh. "Well aren't you a cute little thing?"

"I agree. I kitten or a puppy would be wonderful. And thanks, I'm rather fond of my eyes myself though I guess that would be rather vain of me. Cat's tend to have different colored eyes sometimes too."

Phoebe wondered if her guardian would let her take home a pet. She had always wanted one and Juno had her own wolf of a familiar on the estate as well. She loved playing with the she-wolf.

The young woman turned towards her charge and started to get nervous at the longing on Phoebe's face. She could practically hear the little girl's thoughts as she stared at the animals around her. It was going to be trouble leaving the pet shop.

Juno turned back to the pup on the other side of the glass, "You better not make any cutesy-eyes at my little girl. I don't want to be taking you home to just be your toilet maid. Not to mention Nerio would get jealous if I paid heed to you more than her."

"I saw a dog once with different colored eyes. He was part husky part great dane." Grinning brightly she stepped closer to the proper girl. "Sadly I have rather regular green eyes. My names Remi by the way. What's your name?" Cocking her head to the side Remi let her curiosity shine in her emerald green eyes. She smelled something different.....

Whining lightly the pup pushed its side against the cage. With a warm smile Lizzy reached her fingers through the skinny bars to scratch the pup. As soon as her nails hit the pups skin his hind leg started to twitch in happiness. It seemed she had found his sweet spot.

Phoebe is Black
Orpheus is Blue
October 23, 2009

Orpheus was out, mulling things over as it were. His lower lip was being nibbled on in a relentless form of human nature, but his fangs tore at the flesh until it bled and healed, a never ending process. The teen was clearly worried, but about what it wasn't clear. Unlike Orpheus to open up to other people easily, not even to Qadir though the father did seem to get a better glimpse than most.

His feet had wandered him to the park absently, and now he flopped into the grass in the middle of a large clearing, just staring up at the moon without blinking. Anyone daring to look close enough might even notice tears shining within those dark depths, though they would certainly never roll down those high cheek bones.

A chill rolled through Phoebe as she tip toed her way out of bed and down the balcony. The moment her bare toes touched the cool grass she was off into the dark, giggling and spinning with her arms in the air. Her night gown swirled around her, a halo of white silk that glowed with the soft grey of the moon. Phoebe's lungs filled with the sweet autumn air when she started to shout with glee as danced towards her destination... the top of the jungle gym.

It took a moment before Phoebe noticed a stranger near her precious seat when she stopped her spinning to catch a breath. Wobbling, she took slow steps until she was but a few feet away from the much taller figure. The figure's back was a stark contrast in the moonlight.

Phoebe stared at the back, her head tilting from one side to another, before she took light steps to peer at the boy's profile. "Hello."

Orpheus was clearly startled out of his little trance, darting to his feet too fast for her eyes to possibly catch such an action. But even as he looked down on her, he seemed to slip back into his small trance. She was stunningly beautiful, a little moon nymph come dancing into his presence, and he was quite captivated but for a minute of his long life.

"Hello," he replied, slightly breathless before shaking himself out of it, turning his head to the side to look away from her and wrinkle his nose as if to show disinterest. Slowly his arms folded over his chest and he scanned the area for anything dangerous. "Little girls shouldn't be out so late at night." The tone was cold and formal. He hoped she would simply apologize and go elsewhere. Orpheus needed this time to think, not be distracted by some spirit.

Pheobe furrowed her brows as she measured the teenager with her blue-grey eyes, comparing his substantial height to her own petite frame. Following his example, the little girl wrinkled her own nose in distaste. She wasn't that much smaller. It had to be something with it being night and the pretty, pretty moon. Yup, that's exactly what it was.

Satisfied with her own justification, Phoebe flitted closer until she was but a step or two away. "It's not really late night. It's early since it barely just struck midnight. If it were late night, then wouldn't it be early morning instead?" She rocked back and forth, her dress swishing softly against her legs, as she peered into his face with overly wide innocent eyes that were screamed to be more than just that.

The teen glances at her out of the corner of his eyes, their dark depths just the opposite of her milk and silk gaze. "It's late enough for the bad guys to come out," Orpheus said as he looked away once more, not following the logic of her childish greed. Not that he could blame her really though. How many times had he snuck out of the house to run off and play on his own? Regardless of the fact that he belonged to the night, perhaps she did too after all?

With a grumble the teen turned back to her, arms still folded and haughty, frown still upon his lips that showed no signs of the distress and destruction he'd wrought upon them only moments before. "Fine, you may stay out as long as you stay in my sights, else I shall drag you back to your mother or father and see if you think I can't."

Phoebe skipped away from her post and danced a circle with the teen in the center, her face glowing with a half-smile. For a guy who seemed to have wanted her gone, he was quite nice. Were all boys like this? She circled around him once more before she came to abrupt stop.

"So if you're going to keep the bad guys away from me then who's going to keep the bad guys from you?" Her silver eye glowed brightly while her blue eye twinkled with delight. She didn't wait for an answer before she spun away to start her dance again. Giggles peeled out of her as she gazed adoringly at the moon. The stars held no light to pearly orb.

Orphues crouched down a bit, watching her dance around like a little sprite from the forest. Could that even be what she was? He could smell her, certainly, she seemed enough of a scent child to his eyes and nose, but could not spirits and sprites have their own scent? Or perhaps she was even a little bit of both.

For a moment Orpheus felt guilty, as if he'd betrayed something between himself and Kaoru, but he pushed it away. Neither of them had tried contacting each other recently, and it wasn't like they were actually dating. Well, honestly they were more like siblings. And so with that he pushed his little worries away.

"Maybe because I'm the bad guy," the teen said with a cold smile that showed off his fangs, glinting in the moonlight. But it looked like she wasn't paying attention. No matter. The vampire simply crouched and waited, keeping his ears open for anyone approaching while the girl enjoyed herself.

Continuing her dance, Phoebe laughed softly, "Do bad guys always dress so nicely?" Juno had always warned her about talking to strangers, but the strangers that her maternal figure had described sounded like the rats would find in the darkest of alleys. He appeared to have stepped out from one of her bedtime stories, sort of. And besides, Phoebe liked his company.

Phoebe wondered he would have done if she had been a bad guy. Would he have demanded them to stay in his sight with a threat to take them home? Home. It was still too early to be going home. The night sky all but begged for her to stay out to play.

"So if you're a bad guy, is it alright for me to call you Mr. Bad Guy or perhaps Baddie?" Again, her face lit with the mysterious half-smile of hers as she slowed her steps. Her breath was quick from her continuous dancing, but her shoulders shook every so slightly without halt as she giggled some more.

"Bad guys can dress however they want," Orpheus said, his pout even sounding in his voice. He didn't like to be picked about the way he dressed. It was simple but it was nice. At least he wasn't in a dress, like certain...others might be putting on. Not that he had a problem with a woman in a dress, he's was thinking strictly of the other sex.

All the trips Orpheus had gone on with his father made him worry less about the bad guys, and though he'd met plenty of sweet, innocent looking girls that had turned out to be anything but, he didn't feel like this one held within her that certain bad streak.

Her words made him shrug slightly, and he tilted his head to the side as he replied. "You can call me whatever you want I suppose, but my real name is Orpheus, if you're interested." Qadir would have rolled over in his grave hearing Orpheus give permission to anyone, let alone someone he hardly knew, to call him by a nickname. Nicknames were not on Orpheus' personal 'ok list'. Good thing Qadir wasn't dead.

Phoebe slowed to a stop as she frowned. Orpheus. The name sounded familiar. It was definitely a name from her Greek mythology lessons with Juno, but Phoebe wasn't exactly the most studious of students. Suddenly her eyebrows jumped, the orbs above her brow rippling, as her eyes grew wide with glee. "Then I'm going to call you Orphie!" she exclaimed with more tinkling laughter.

"Hm..." Again the little moon child measured Orpheus before taking quick steps to stand squarely in front of the adolescent. He really was dressed very nicely. Almost as if he were going to a party. Perhaps, just perhaps he might?

Holding her hands behind her back, she began to swish the skirt of her dress as she peered up at Orpheus. "How are your feet?"

Orpheus cringed despite himself. It was worse than he would have imagined. But a gentleman didn't take back his word so frivolously. The best he could do was attempt not to take his own life at the prospect of forever being called Orphie.

Parties, though fun, were not often on Orpheus' to-do list. He simply preferred being known as someone who took pride in his outward appearance. That or the overwhelming amount of vanity that ran like poison in the boy's veins. Take your pick.

"My feet? Well, his feet could be a number of things, but without her explaining her puzzling question Orpheus had little choice than to return her question with one of his own.

Phoebe bit the corner of her upper lip as she stared down at Orpheus' feet with all too serious of an expression for her childish face. "They look like they're good feet. And you look like you know how to use them. But they are pretty big. It would hurt if you made a mistake," she spoke to herself as bent over for a closer look before returning her inquiring gaze to Orpheus.

"Can you dance, Orphie?"

The little girl thought about her question. Perhaps she should have phrased it differently? After all, who cannot dance? Dancing well on the other hand is a whole different matter. Though maybe he could just skip? Phoebe tried to imagine the all too dignified looking Orphie skipping with his disgruntled expression before bursting into laughter.

No. Skipping would not be the best alternative though hilarious. Already her feet itched to be away from the earth as she waited for Orpheus to respond.

The teen stared at his feet as she did, confused as to what exactly she had in mind. Foot fetish perhaps? A bit disturbing. Between Orphie and a foot fetish, Orpheus might be changing his mind about who the bad guy in the group was. He sniffed at the word mistake. Not likely. "I dance." Orpheus replied steadily. Qadir had taught him every dance he's known, but of course the favorite for both of them was the simple but elegant waltz. He wasn't sure if she was referring to dancing, as in knowing certain dances and where your feet go, or if she was referring to the "cut it loose" vertical seizures kids these days seemed to favor.

Orpheus. Does. Not. Skip. He was more likely to start calling himself Orphie before something like that ever happened. He looked confused as to what she was giggling herself into a fit over, but all he did was sigh and wait for her to finish. Once she had he'd offer his hand to her, though he still looked sulky, his voice was warm. "Did you want to dance with me?"

She smiled at the question and not one of her half-smiles or smirks. The white of her teeth were nearly as pearly as the moon itself as Phoebe flashed Orpheus a look of pure delight. The girl hadn't actually thought that the older boy would ask her to dance. She had been more than ready to grab his hand and spin him around in circles if it came to desperate measures such as a flat out rejection or the possible disappointment of a lack of dance skills.

Taking a skipping step back, Phoebe took either sides of her night gown and gave a smooth curtsy. Her eyes were half closed and facing the ground as she dipped down and rose to drop her small pale hand lightly into Orpheus' waiting hand. Blue-grey eyes were instantly drawn to how her hand looked in his. It was bigger, a lot bigger. It felt bigger than when Juno gripped her hand during their walks. But then again, he was a boy. Yes, that was it. Boys are just different.

A quick smile danced across her face as she teasingly said, "Try to not step on my feet. They might break."

The teen was not someone you could simply haul around at your own choosing, especially if you are female, and a slight bit smaller. Luckily she didn't have to worry about such things, for Orpheus loved to dance. Kill monsters. Dance. The things he loved were very simply categorized. Since his love of monster hunting had been severely diminished no thanks to Qadir's flagging strength and overall interest, Orpheus was more than delighted to partake in his other loves to take his mind off things.

At her polite curtsy, he would in turn bow, folding his fingers around her hand and pulling it towards his lips to brush gentlemanly kiss upon her warm flesh, ever vigilant that his fangs were no where near piercing range. If he noticed the way she stared at his hand he didn't bother to comment, tugging her forward slightly instead.

It was a bit uncomfortable, dancing with a partner not quite your height, but Orpheus was willing to make due. Nothing a good day's rest wouldn't cure when he got around to it. Half-grin spread on his lips, a bit awkward looking, but warm, "I wouldn't step on your feet if you tried to make me." Vampire reflexes and all that jazz.

Young and silly as she was, especially with the moon in its full orb, Phoebe giggled at the kiss. It was a gesture and somewhat part of the dance, but Juno had never kissed her hand. It was only something that Phoebe had seen in movies and read in books.

Trying hard not to bounce up and down, the moon child stood with her back straight; a poor attempt to match Orpheus' height. Phoebe took a step out before following Orpheus into a fast waltz and was she ever so happy. Waltz meant turning and this particular style was about turning fast until it was like spinning. There was a feeling of flying to dancing and it was also like walking on water, the slip and slide of one's feet gliding across the ground.

As graceful as the silver haired child was naturally, she still had to glance down at her feet every so often as Orpheus led her in turns. Just to make sure that he wouldn't step on her feet, of course. Phoebe tried to keep her peeks downward quick and short, not wanting the older boy to think that she was a horrible dancer. Not a horrible dancer, or at least she thought so. She was at least decently good, she hoped. She frowned slightly, wrinkling the space between her two-toned eyes, as she entertained the thought that she might be bad at dancing.

Earth and stars, Phoebe prayed that she wasn't. She loved dancing. She would dance all day and night if her physical body had the endurance. Doubting her own skills, the girl asked in a quiet voice, "Orphie? Am I a bad dancer?"

Certainly the teen was like something out of fairy tales, a twisted combination of monster and prince. Thanks too good training from Qadir to manage his vampirism, the only monster remaining was his arsenic tongue. Now, with that tongue, he was little more than an irritable gentleman, not fit for a prince, not quite the monster. Ah, the duality of life could really make one pause and think for a moment. But he didn't have time to think.

Though his dance steps came naturally to him, and he could have easily drifted mentally while dancing with her, he still wished to at least look the part of attentive. Orpheus noted every small glance to their feet, which never came more than a quick second too close before the teen corrected the mistakes (hers or his, it was probably better not to ask).

She was indeed good, and when she posed the question he gave a sort of curt nod, gazing up at the moon instead of look at her. "I've danced with worse," he said, as if in attempt of a compliment. Orpheus didn't really lean in the color spectrum world of compliments. His best approach was to simply not be insulting. Though the girl hardly knew him, he was hoping she'd take it as the praise it was meant to be.

Phoebe screwed her nose at the thought of someone being worst then herself. Poor Orphie! Well, more for his feet then him exactly, but still. It wasn't the world's most endearing compliment, but it brought the smile back to her small pale face. To think! Someone worst... The girl shuddered at the thought and straightened her back. The older boy most have more patience than he was leading on, but then again he was much nicer than he tried to be.

She wanted to spin and dance forever. The moon child felt as if she were flying with her arms resting on those of Orpheus. Her feet barely touched the floor as glided, well as she could on grass. Phoebe wanted to dance until the moon set and the sun rose, but her thoughts were interrupted as tried in vain to muffle a yawn. Peering into the night sky, she noted that the moon was already beginning to arc downwards.

As of late, Phoebe has started to sneak out of her room at night more frequently. I'm not sure if I should be worried. I recall when I used to go out and sit on the roof to stare at the moon, but I found out that was more due to the fact that my powers drew from it. Perhaps it will be the same for Phoebe? Though I'm not sure how that will go since she never takes her lessons seriously. That girl is worse than my nieces. I'm not quite sure how Athie got her girls to sit still for their spells and histories, but I wish she would share her secret with me.

Am I pushing too hard? It just seems as if one day Phoebe will blow my mind with how enthusiastic and passionate she is about her lessons, but then she'll go on a streak of skipping her lessons or just being distracted. Seriously, the kid drives me nutters sometimes.

But I do have to admit that there are days when she is just too loveable. I'm not sure what it is, but she seems almost as if she's bi-polar, but not in the traditional sense. She's a normal little girl one moment as she plays or studies and the next minute she'll be staring into nothing as if she's seeing everything. For awhile I wondered if she was touched in the head and wanted ask Athie or Mini to look into Phoebe's condition, but then the girl would be back to her devilishly adorable self.

Maybe I'm just thinking too much of the situation. Why aren't there books or grimoires on how to raise children?
