I apologise in advance for the lengthy post. wink

What my thoughts are on Vegan/Vegetarianism: I believe that a vegetarian or vegan diet is the best diet to have. It is the healthiest and the most compassionate.

What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: I do not eat any meat products of any kind - this includes gelatin (and boy, I never realised just how many odd things that I'd have never thought contained gelatin actually do - Kellogg's Frosted Mini-Wheats, for example). I do not drink milk, but still eat some milk products. I do not eat eggs outright unless I can obtain them from a local farmer who I am personally acquainted with (he treats his chickens as pets - they are not food to him), however some things I eat do contain eggs. I would someday like to make the full conversion to veganism.

My age (optional): 25

How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: I began reading a lot about how animals are treated in slaughterhouses, and how they are treated when they are being raised BEFORE they go off to slaughter; it sickened me. With this, I also heard of the various hormones and antibiotics that animals are given, and the health problems caused by eating meat. It didn't make sense to keep eating meat, after I knew the facts. I slowly weaned myself off pork and beef; poultry meats were more difficult, and after three months of trying to slowly reduce their presence in my diet, I realised that what I needed to do was simply quit (pardon the expression) cold turkey - that was a little over three years ago. I haven't eaten a single meat product since.

What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future: I predict that those who continue to eat meat will also continue to be less healthy; they will, unfortunately, continue to die of preventable illnesses, they will continue to have higher rates of heart disease and cancer. The numbers of vegetarians and vegans are increasing, so it is my hope that peoples' overall health will improve, and that the environment will improve as well - the more people who switch to vegetarianism, the more farms have to convert and conform to produce for them rather than for those who eat meat.

What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: I am only a vegetarian. I do use products, but I do not eat chicken or fish. sometimes I eat shrimp though.
My age (optional): 15
How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: I wanted to. one day I just decided to and that day I didnt eat any meat and I havent since.
What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future: I think if more people would become vegans or vegetarians, that our problem of obesity in the US would decline greatly because people wouldnt be stopping at McDonalds to get a big mac for lunch every day. People would be more responsible with what they eat.

What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: Mostly Indian vegetable curries, usually no eggs but skim milk, and - once in a while - tuna fish, just for protein.
My age (optional): 17
How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: Because I realized that I ate really badly and was going to die of obesity when my metabolism slowed down, like everyone else in my family.
What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future: I think that the Western world should realize that Eastern cultures, that generally eat less meat or none, are far healthier than ours, and that the rainforest is being cut down so that McDonald's can graze its cows there.

I think no one should eat meat, this is impossible but it would be great to see a world where everyone lives in peace and harmony!
What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: Veggies, juice, fruit, candy, water, toast, grains
My age (optional):14
How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: I watched the Meet your Meat video on peta.org. I was Vegitarian for a year and now Vegan. (Unfortunally with the ocassional "you eat what I put on your plate or your going to have to eat meat again!!!" threat)
What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future:I think many people will get sick from eating animals, and the only ones who WON'T be sick is the Vegitariens and Vegans. The sick people will catch on and go Veg, factory farms will have to stop breeding and close down and the world would be a better place!!!!!!

Joining Reason: What my thoughts are on Vegan/Vegetarianism: Its all about respect for life, be it human or animal, we must have some manner of respect.

What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: Nothing Animal related but Dairy and eggs (free range)

My age (optional): 19
How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: Well, i was one in the past for the reason of, well, not liking harming animals. I stopped because of the pressue now I have started again.

What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future: Without protein, people will be less strong (there are ways to make up for that, of course) Factory farms will cease to exist. More and more people who are not even vegetarian are thinking twice about the extent of animal cruelty. I think the idea will become more commonplace, but it will not be a staple of society.

Why I joined: Because I am a d**k lol. Seriously, one thing that makes me angry is people who mock vegans and vegetarians. I also don't like many vegans and vegetarians who are too forcefull with the message and become anti carnivore. My personal belief is that we need to show people the alternative, and let others decide from that.

What my thoughts are on Vegan/Vegetarianism: Vegetarianism is simply a way of showing your love and respect for creature of the planet. We need to respect them, and it is wrong to harm other living things.

What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: No meat. Dairy and Eggs are okay (only free range eggs). I do not find harm in dairy, but have read the arguements. While I do not stop supporting them financially (hey, I work for Mc Donalds anyway!) I do fight factory farms that harm the animals beyond the milking process.

My age (optional): 19

How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: I became a vegetarian thanks to my redneck hunter brother, I guess. I don't know, I didn't like his senseless killing of innocent creatures. This was years ago when I first tried. Pressure made me stop being a vegetarian. That was a while ago, I just started about two weeks ago.

What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future:

First of all, factory farms will be going down soon enough. Agriculture will be more profitable for family farms with the downfall of the factory farms. I think that Veganism and Vegetarianism will not become the norm. However, they will become more accepted.

What my thoughts are on Vegan/Vegetarianism: I am a vegetarian. i feel that in general it is a good thing to do to help save what it left of this earth.
What my current diet consists of, or doesn't consist of: Pasta, veggie burgers and veggie products. I try not to eat eggs as Its wrong but don't like them much anyway.
My age (optional): 19
How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: i have seen how animals have been geared as product in a machine. I think it is wrong. the final straw was when I saw a 3 foot tall cages holding like 400 chickens seach all stacked on top of each other on a transport truck. The chickens couldn't even move it was so bad. It made me want to cry.
What I predict to happen to people's health, factory farms, agriculture, and whether I think the amount of people who realize that veganism is the way to go in the future:
I feel in a whole if we make enough of a dent in meat and meat product sales then the meat market may treat animals better. I think its cruel and wrong how we treat them and I hope that one day they realise this.

How I became a Vegan/Vegetarian: One of my best friends did it and it made me want to research about it abit. Then I became one.
