long process, flippity flop and unsureness... still going through some xD

Oh, I see. So this is sort of like an on-going process. How long have you been going through this, if you don't mind me asking? I hope you're able to figure it all out soon :3

well been going on like the first signs of anything since 2 and a half years ago but more like seriously since a year and 6 months ago about give or take some months or whatever

but as of recentlly a little more resolved, no answers but the answers I have idk its kinda like no matter what its not great but dont let my worries bring you down D;

for most people its not so bad >.<

That does seem like a long process ;-; What kind of things have you been doing to try to figure it out? If that's too personal, it's okay to not answer, don't feel pressured. ^^

I think I understand what you mean, and no worries. I'm sure an answer will come soon, so don't give up :3 I hope you have a lot of support in this. It's no fun to search for it alone D:

That's what I've heard from a few people I knew a few years ago. "Oh, I just thought about it, and I was like, 'oh, I guess I'm a lesbian'." I wish it was that easy ;-;

I mean well gaia has helped me figure out alot. And I plan to go to an anime con this summer dressed up all girl like and well see how that goes >.<

I'm sure it'll go well for you, don't worry ^^ Best of luck to you!

It was definitely a gradual process for me and mislabeling myself a few times. I'm biologically male and when I first started to figure myself out I actually labelled myself as a gay man. I stuck with that label for a year and a half but something about it never really fit. Before I came out to myself as gay I had been questioning my gender identity and after awhile those thoughts came back so I had to really think about my gender identity seriously. After awhile I learned that I actually was transgender and I was unsure about my sexuality. I knew that I liked girls more than guys but I was still attracted to men. It was only recently that I came out to myself as bisexual.

Oh, I see, so it was kind of like trial and error, in a way? I'm happy that you were able to reach a conclusion about all of it ^^

Mislabeling brings up a really good point. Recently, my cousin made this huge coming out thing about being pansexual, and while everyone was incredibly supportive of her, about three months later she was kind of like, "whoops, I'm straight".

That's the one thing I've always personally been worried about with coming out, if I end up being not-straight. Have you ever had that sort of issue? Sorry if that's really personal, you don't have to answer that question.

But I hope everything goes well for you and your transition, if you haven't already done so.

I guess it kind of was trial and error in a way. I'm pretty sure I have it figured out now though. I hope you're able to figure yourself out soon. It's definitely best to be sure before you come out though.

Coming out is hard and I came out as gay before realizing that I was trans and bi so I had to come out a second time. I have come out to a few people though, including my parents, so most people that I came out to before I've come out to again. It was hard enough the first time though so it's definitely best if you're sure before you come out.

Thanks for the good wishes. I hope things go well for you too. So far things have been going alright but I haven't really done anything in terms of transition yet.

I bet it feels amazing to have it all figured it :3 It might be weird to say, especially since I don't know you, so I'm sorry if it is, but I'm proud of you for getting things figured out ^^
For me, I feel as though it's staring me in the face, and I'm either in denial or not able to face it at the moment.

I hope that your friends/family have been supportive of you. It must be really challenging to be living in the wrong body, and I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I hope you're able to get the body you want as soon as it's possible for you :3

Thanks for the good wishes as well. I very much appreciate it. ^^ I hope things get started for your transition and things go smoothly ^^

It does feel good to have things figured out. I'm still figuring some things out but it feels good when things click. It was such an amazing feeling when everything just finally made sense.

Don't worry. I'm sure you'll figure it out at some point. I'm sure you'll gradually learn more and more about yourself and then eventually it will just click and you can say with certainty that you are [insert here]. Of course, you don't always have to label yourself. You are you. It's nice to know these things about yourself but I think that the best thing to do is to be yourself.

It is challenging and depressing to be living in the wrong body but I know that someday I can have the body that I'm meant to have. It will happen someday. Also, thanks for saying that you hope I can have the right body someday. That made me feel really good. Thanks. My friends have been supportive. My parents haven't been unsupportive but I haven't talked about it a lot with them. I'm going to have to bring it up again some time. They may not like it but I'm pretty sure they won't ever hate me for it. I have a really good and close relationship with my parents. I don't think that could ever be destroyed.

It sounds like you've come along way ^^ I'm sure you'll have the rest figured out in no time at all ^^

It's honestly just a lot of shame I feel that is probably holding me back from discovering it. I actually tried to tell my mom a few years ago that I felt I wasn't straight, and I was humiliated. I've felt pretty guilty over my feelings since middle school over being publicly ousted by my gym teacher about my sexuality, and at this point, all I can do is try to work through it. Maybe then I can figure it out, but I feel as though that may be the block on it. Thank you for the confidence ^^

I have a feeling that you'll be able to overcome that based on how far you've already come. And I think when you get the right body, you'll be able to be truly happy ^^ I'm not trans myself, but I've met a few people who are, and I know it's been really hard for them to keep going sometimes. I know sometimes it can be challenging to not give up, but just keep the end goal in mind, and have a nice shopping day if that's what you like. One of my friends who is trans starting painting her toenails to make herself feel more girly but since she wasn't out about it, the toenails were an easy thing to hide. Perhaps you could try something like that if you're ever feeling down? Also, I'm glad you have support, and I'm positive your parents will love you no matter what gender you are :3 Best of luck to you, I'm sure everything will turn out absolutely amazing ^^

Tipsy Sex Symbol

PostPosted: Sun Jun 16, 2013 10:22 pm

I was in denial about my sexuality for a long time. I had previous ex-boyfriends of mine say that I was bisexual, because I'd masturbate to yuri, loved boobs, and would comment when I found a woman attractive. But it took me 3 years of men telling me that I was bisexual, before I finally admitted it myself. The reason why it was so hard for me to accept this was because I would think, "Well, I wouldn't mind sleeping with another woman (and the thought even turns me on), but I don't think I'd want to be in a relationship with one... so that means that I'm still straight!" But soon after I turned 18, I started communicating with women more and seeing them in a different light. I realized that I could be in a relationship with one, and after that realization, my desire to be in one grew and grew to the point where it is now. I want to be in a relationship with a woman, not a man. I want to have sex with women, not men.

It was very confusing for me when I started realizing that my desire to be with my ex boyfriend was vanishing, and my desire to find a girlfriend was increasing. I tried to make excuses as to why I was no longer attracted to him sexually any more. Or any man, for that matter. And I realized that p***s also always disgusted me. My ex was really the only man that I ever found attractive, but that attraction didn't last. I think that as I was being more honest with myself, that I felt like I didn't need to put up such a front anymore. So while I'm still confused about my sexuality because I did fall in love with a man, I feel like a lesbian now (and would even consider myself one). I rationally find that I don't want to be in a relationship with a man again. And I don't even find them physically attractive, anyways. Where as, women drive me crazy. And I have dreams of getting married and having a wife.

It feels like such a shame that I grew up in a society where being attracted to other girls was such a taboo. Because I was attracted to them. I even managed to convince some of my best friends in elementary school to kiss me (and made up excuses as to why it didn't mean anything). I remember being so confused when I was 10, about my feelings for this one girl. And my confusion lasted years, even after I had moved and stopped seeing her. I always thought about her. And thought that something must be wrong with me. It's terrible that I would have thought that, because nothing was wrong with me at all. I was in denial for so long about it. And now I feel like I missed out on many years that I could have spent having girlfriends and becoming part of the LGBT community. But I guess I have the time to do that now. ^^;

So yeah! I'm 21 (almost 22) and lesbian! And to think that only 4 years ago I told myself that I was straight!

EDIT:
And oh goodness, I don't know why I keep on wanting to ramble on about this stuff, but yeah... Sometimes I feel like among the LGBT community, that I'll be judged when I call myself lesbian, because I was in a long term relationship with a man. But in my heart of hearts, calling myself bisexual doesn't feel right, because it says that, "Hey, I'm attracted to men," when I'm really not. Maybe at one point I was a little bit. But now? No. Maybe I will be attracted to a man again one day, but as far as my sexual identity is right now, I'm not. Simple as that. And sexuality is very fluid, I feel. I mean, I have a friend who was a lesbian, but found that when she turned 30, she started being attracted to some men, and she was very confused about this. Likewise there are women who are straight for many years of their lives who then fall in love with someone of the same sex. And I don't fault anybody for changing their "label".

Well, um..
Everybody has always expected me to be a lesbian, but I never thought I was.
I believed I was simply asexual because of the fact that I'm a borderline sociopath. I never really saw anybody attractive.. Or that's what I thought anyway. I just didn't find men all that attractive.
And then, sometime during Sophomore year, I developed a huge crush on a friend of mine..
I went through a period of thinking on it, and wandering if I just liked her personality, or if I was attracted to the whole thing.
It sort of slowly sunk in that I was a lesbian throughout the year, and eventually I really realized it.
However, I didn't tell anyone I knew until.. March 19th, 2013, And that was my mother.
I told one of my best friends about a month ago.
Now, I'm a little worried that I may be wrong. Not because I'm attracted to men, but my mother keeps asking me if I'm sure that I'm a lesbian. She keeps coming up with all these things, like, "Well, you didn't like girls when you were really little.", "Aren't you even going to Try to be with a man, at least once?", or "Maybe it's just because of all the people you hang out with."
It frustrates me because I can't tell her that the sight of.. Male genitalia makes me physically sick.
So, now, occasionally, I'll panic that I'm wrong. emotion_facepalm

It seems as though the general consensus that it was a more gradual process to figure it out.

You're right, it is pretty sad that society has that impression on people, where there must be something wrong with you if you're not enjoying the company of the opposite sex (to put it lightly) .

I'm glad you were able to get it mostly figured out, if not all of it yet because of the whole falling in love with a man part. But it's possible you just fell in love with the person and not the gender. It does make sense why you're still a bit confused, and I hope you're able to figure all that out soon.

It's fine to ramble, no worries ^^ I think that makes a lot of sense, what you have to say. I don't know if the LGBT community would judge you for that; I'm sure there are people who can relate to your experiences.

Usually, I don't have an issue with someone changing their label, but if a girl is only 'bisexual' to get attention from guys or because it's 'edgy', or if this person changes their sexuality every two weeks, or doesn't really look into the label they're trying to identify with (like when my cousin called herself a pansexual, I hadn't heard of that before she used that term, so I asked her about it, and she couldn't explain at all. She got really defensive about it too whenever anyone would ask her to explain what she meant by pansexual) , then it kind of bothers me but not too badly.

Oh, I see. So again, gradual process. Hm.

If you don't mind, what did you mean by "expected to be a lesbian"? You don't have to answer that if it's too personal.

Anyway, I hope your mom will come around about it and accept you. If it's what you feel, I don't think you should allow her to shake you from that feeling. Honestly, when I really started questioning things, I had talked to my mom about it, and she was kind of saying stuff along the same lines, especially since, at the time, my best friend was gay. I ended up not being able to talk to her about anything concerning sex and sexuality since she was just so downright awful about it. I hope your mom isn't awful to you in that regard (or any regard really).

Yea, I gotta agree with you there. Male genitalia is pretty freaking gross.

I dunno, like, A lot of people {Like my family} Would joke about it, and all my friends would ask.
I guess it's because I'm not very feminine, and I never showed an interest in boys.
She says she accepts me, but I think she just wants to be sure. She's not even being nasty, she just doesn't want to broadcast it to everybody if I'm not sure..
Especially since, you know, Hate lives in a small town.

Oh, I see. That must have been really awkward for you cry I could understand where people thought they were coming from by asking that question, but... Feminine lesbians do exist.

Oh, okay, I understand now. Earlier it sounded as if she was trying to be nasty. That's understandable, and you're right, hate does live in a small town. It sounds as though, other than the occasional doubt, that you have it pretty much figured yourself out.

I think if you just do what makes you happy, you'll be just fine ^^

I had an 'aha' moment, and I sort of knew.
But their are still aspects of my sexuality I still have to experiment with.

Yeah, I guess.
I'm glad I at least seem figured out.
But, I mean, I won't be coming out for at least another year.
.. And even then, I might just move out one night, and leave a note on the fridge that say:
"I'm Gay, bitches!"
Then it'll be done, and I'll be in California.
xD

That makes sense. I suppose my perception of the 'aha' moment was slightly skewed. I always thought that once someone was like 'aha, I'm ___" or something to that effect, it would be the end-all to experimenting, and the person would just know instantly.

Clearly I was wrong.

But I think as long as that moment was sort of a push to really figure things out, then more power to you :3 Best of luck to you!
