Also I promise whoever steps in as room host I won't bite...I just nibble affectionately and only if you smell like cake or bacon.
I suppose I could take over the helm though I don't feel I've done a very good job even being a co-host as of right now. Life has been kind of hectic...but I'll do my damndest! Thanks! Feel free to take a larger role if you want it. I understand how busy schedules and make it hard to get things done. Will you have any more free time after the school year ends? I plan on making time, let us put it that way. Next week filing paperwork to take off this weekend that the Ball falls on so I don't run into any snaphoos like last year. Oooooooo I'm gonna have to do that for my job too, pretty soon! So...how do you guys word your requests to get time off for the ball so your bosses don't look at you like you're crazy? I ask because I've never had to ask off for it before, so I have no clue what to say! sweatdrop (And because at my job, when we fill out the paperwork to ask for time off, we have to provide a reason.) Yeah, I'm in your subforum, invading your chats! mrgreen

It helps keep things active! blaugh If it were me, I'd do something such as: "I wanted to go ahead and clear this with you far in advance, but I was wondering if it would be possible to be off August 23rd through 25th." Then, don't comment on why. If they want a reason, say: "I'm helping to lead a volunteer event that my little sister from college got me involved in. It's an online initiative to increase literacy, and we have a weekend full of events that are both fun and educational for students. They will be learning to about classic literature, and developing skills that will aid them later in life. It's a lot of fun, and I would really like to help with it again this year." You see, it's all rhetoric. What you are saying is absolutely true, but based on how you phrase it, you emphasize the educational value over the geeky pursuits. biggrin

You know, I've been thinking about it. Even if I have internet during the ball, I will be on the other side of the planet from most of you, so I won't be able to keep up the story much. Therefore, I'm thinking that it would be best if Gwen still takes the lead as room host, even if I'm around. I'll poke in and play during the graveyard shift. xd

thanks Guys, I'm scared and nervous and happy all at the same time. I just hope I do a good job. I have only been apart of one ball, this will be my second and i was a co-host last year in angel's room. So I just hope I make a good substitute Host...lol I should be able to do the King and Queen contest without a problem. ^_^ Here's hoping.

So I just hope I make a good substitute Host...lol I should be able to do the King and Queen contest without a problem. ^_^ Here's hoping. You'll do great! biggrin Remember, I hosted a room my second year after having only been a co-host since three or four months before my very first ball! You know all you need to know, and you'll learn the rest along the way. Plus, you are in a room full of seasoned veterans who can help you in case something goes wrong. biggrin

I just found out that I will not have internet for a month after arriving, meaning I'm not going to get to be there for the ball. However, I will do my best to make sure that things are in order before I leave. I know you guys can do it, and will have a great time without me! heart

Hey, guys! I'm in Japan, and will be arriving at my new apartment on Friday. When I arrive in my town, I won't have internet for about a month, so my time is short. Oh, and for free wi-fi, they don't have it. ^_^; Anyway, the ball is less than a month away, so everyone needs to get a move on it! Please let me see progress and updates! @Harmonic - Were post style orders ever submitted to you? If not, ask Gwen and Inky about them. @Milantra - Harmonic agreed to put frames around your work. You can go ahead and forward the completed art to her, and she can take care of the rest. biggrin @Gwen - Make sure that you set up the test thread soon! It can take a while coordinating everyone. @everyone in the room - PLEASE have your game info ready ASAP! Waiting until the last minute is a very bad idea. Please just go ahead and get it over with, and then you can perfect what you already have. Try to make it as perfect as possible as soon as possible. You will need time to troubleshoot what you have already done. If you need anything, PM me. I'm pretty good with numbers and figuring out possible kinks in games and contests. I will be around for one more day according to your schedule. It is currently Wednesday night for me. Anyway, go out there and make me proud!!!

If it were earlier, I would say to do a trial run in this subforum, but since time is running short, I think you had better go ahead and make the official one in the test forum. You might want to order some dividers of some sort or other. I was going to get everything ready so I could just hand it over, but I couldn't do it in time. I feel so bad about it! Make our room look awesome! There are a couple wooden clocks we used for the Sloth Room that look like they should fit the theme pretty well if you want to use them. Here is the link to them. Also, the guild where that is posted is yours for you and Inky to make into a holding space for any games and contests that you want to house there. Change the guild name and move junk around to suit your needs. I have been putting games and contests in the main section of the guild for easy guest access, and locking the subforums for the other. You might want to make sure that they can't go wandering into old stuff too should you choose to use it. biggrin
