He nods and sighs, "The day when you ended any close relationship that we had, we were alone, in a meadow. A tattered sofa all that was there to keep us comfortable. I had you in my arms, and then you told me that you didn't want me hurt, and that it wouldn't work.. That was the first time I had cried in many a year.." He looks away for a moment.
"There is also this: Back when we first met, underneath the patch on my left eye was my diluted eye. A quarter of it was missing entirely, and it was a mixture of black, red and white."

A few tears glistened her cheeks as she listened to the elderly man before her. Her voice was full of sadness when she finally spoke again, "Oh Michael... I'm so sorry!" She wrapped her arms around the man she knew with a smaller frame that she didn't know. Hugging him gently to her, unable to say anything to him.

He shushes her gently, rubbing at her back with the hand not gripping at a staff, "It is quite alright, My Lady. You could not have known.. I am much different than I used to be.. I have had much time to do nothing but think." He smiles, then.
"I have been waiting for the day that I might see the light once more. I had begun to think myself going blind." He takes what feeble strength he has and gives her a little squeeze.

Katherine realized then that she had dropped the books she had taken from the library and dropped to the floor to search for them, mumbling how inanimate objects were impossible to find without sight. After finally finding them, she picked the two books up and returned to a standing, facing Michael. Tightening her grip on the books, she spoke quietly, the tears having dried up but her heart was still heavy with sorrow. "Michael, you have aged so much... And I was not here to be with you... Instead I pushed you away and then disappeared. I'm so sorry, please forgive me for being a horrible person. Even the keeper of light makes mistakes.." She bowed low to the man she respected and had once greatly adored.

He shakes his head and holds up a hand, "You are not at fault, My Lady, you had your reasons for leaving, and my own stubbornness forced me to get stuck here." He sighs, Lacey.. She came, not long before the magic died.. She tried to warn me, tried to tell me that I had to get out, but I adamantly waited for you.
"Then, it happened.. The darkness broke through, and they stopped any entrances and exits to the realm to all they could.. Including myself." He kneads at his well-worn staff, "I have been here ever since. Twenty years-of-this-world.."

"Twenty years have passed... I see...," Katherine sighed softly, turning to her guardian.
"My dear guardian, please assist me with getting my good friend here to a room. As you may know a few rooms had been warded. One of which was my chambers. I would like you both to join me there so we may sit and converse with more comfort," she didn't wait for his response as she pulled her hood back up, not wanting to subject the two to her unnatural eyes any longer, and began walking in the direction of where she felt the wards' power. When the queen walked there were no noises, having long since learned the art of hiding her footsteps, a must have in the dangerous missions her teacher, Aldora, had sent her on.
As the group reached Katherine's bedroom, she pulled a key from under her cloak and unlocked it. Holding open the door for her guardian and friend, she let them inside her bedroom, first. As they entered it was quick to see the wards had stood time and left the white room with gold accents untouched by the darkness. The grand room had a small sitting area around some bookcases that were filled to the brim with books on spells and herbal concoctions, she lead them to that sitting area, letting them settle into the more comfortable area.

He smiles gratefully as he is led to the bedroom he had seldom seen, and he simply heads for the sitting-area, and slowly lowers himself to one of the couches. letting loose a long, wheezing sigh. "Ahh.. The many comforts of the castle.. some were preserved indeed.. I dared not venture into some of the warded areas, in case they were hiding something I might not survive.."
He chuckles airily, "But that is the past. We are as safe as long as the ward holds, in here, knowing My Lady's magic."

Ranmyaku sat down in a chair. Pulling up to a table and putting his hands on the table so that they knew he wasn't doing anything funny. "So what did you want to talk about?" He sat upright and proper for once. He usually only spoke like this when he was busy or serious.

Placing her hands on the first chair she touched, Katherine navigated her way to the table using touch, stumbling once before sitting down. She turned in the direction of Michael's voice and then turned towards her guardian, "Well, it's just that... With this world in shambles, my magic is decaying. We cannot rely on it anymore, my magic could disappear suddenly at any moment in time," she sighs softly, placing her head on the table, closing her eyes. She seemed frail, sitting there, talking of her own weakness. "Without Kiari, though, I'm unsure how to gain enough energy to push back this darkness. But no one has seen my other half since she left the castle."

Michael simply sighs at Katherine's words, knowing the depth of what she is admitting, "My Lady, I am sure our dear friend Alcolyte might know a thing or two. Or perhaps his brother." He glances around, "Or one of the many books stored here is bound to have a hidden compartment that you might have overlooked in your rush to escape."
He sighs, "I know not what could help, I'm still the simple warrior I always have been. My blade does the thinking, usually, not my mind. Or it did.."

Ranmyaku smirked. "Well you could always ask me if I have ways. You guys never ask for my skills or abilities in the past. Maybe I can help. After all, if I can help her majesty regain her sight then I will use whatever method I can." He said as he gave them both a confident look. "Don't doubt me because of how I look either, I have gone through some heavy combat without back up. You can trust me."

Katherine kept her head laid on the table, her dead eyes closed, still. She took in both if their words before raising her head and looking over at the bookcase that she knew was there, "I can't do anything till my sight has been restored, and I have no idea when that'll happen. So for now, maybe it is best to train, I would like to get a taste of your skills... Oh, I'm sorry, I never asked for your name, my guardian." She turned to him, her hood hiding her black eyes from him.

He nods once more, relaxing back against the back of the couch n what comfort his slightly-hunched back can give. "I do not believe I will be doing any training anytime soon, My Lady.. I am old.. I can barely move, let alone use my blade."
(( I usually hate shorter posts, these days, but this one just sums it up! ))

He stood up from his chair slowly to not shove the chair on the floor. "Ironically my name is Ranmyaku. In my home dimension I am called Beta. I come from what I guess you could call a long history of supernatural hunters. I have mastered many forms of combat and magical techniques that can rival a grandmaster and an archmage at the same time." He smirked with confidence as he stepped away from the table. "Also no offense, but it wouldn't be fair to fight you like this! you would just end up hurting yourself without practicing with you weakness." he put his hands on his waist. "Also, you don't have to hide your shame, Everyone has a flaw. To overcome it you must embrace it, not hide it."

Katherine looked over towards the voice of Michael, closing her eyes again she seemed sad for a moment, not caring for the reminder of his human body which aged so quickly.
When Ranmyaku spoke, she turned her head back towards him, smiling, "I have an adopted son with my ex with the same name. We adopted him after his father abandoned him. We called him, Ran. Oh how I miss my children," she sighed softly before standing up, still smiling. "Anyways, I do feel any shame for my eyes, only wish to spare any discomfort for someone who looks into them. I was told by some villagers that when they looked into them, they felt like they were looking into death. Even so, I'm sure I could hold my own against you."
Laughing softly, Kat used her memory of the room to move towards the bookcases, feeling around the wall near one, she clicks a panel which reveals her own, special training area right next to her bedroom with weapons on one wall, most being her specialty: knives.
Moving towards the knives, she picked a pair up which glowed with magical abilities and then she moved further into the room, "Come, Ranmyaku, let me see the skills that got you into the guardians of light."
