Lucky didn't even realize somebody was close to him until they addressed him. The stranger's sudden appearence caught him off guard; he jumped in surprise, turning to face the owner of the voice. The owner was a dark blue pegasus, he stood a few hands higher than Lucky. The words he spoke were strange, Lucky wondered if maybe the pony had mistaken him for someone else. "Uh..." Lucky thought this over, thinking back to the conversation he had just finished having with his father. "Probably not, dude...If you're looking for someone reliable, look somewhere else..."

After Lucky had gone, Mercury, Silver Lance, and Jupiter were left standing in silence. Finally, Silver spoke up. "You've managed to raise a coward Mercury." Mercury nodded, sighing as he did so. "Well...He's not normally like this..." Their harsh words, reignited Jupiter's temper. She glared at both of them. "Well just what in the hell did you think was going to happen?" she barked back at them, her voice filled with rage. "Did you honestly think you could just stroll in here, so casually like la di da di da, oh hello there! Your father was the next closest line to the throne, which makes you a prince; sorry you didn't see him, but I'm glad we talked! By the way, now you get to go on a quest to fight, and possibly die, for a cause that you very well may not believe in!" She took a deep breath, and tried to regain her composure. "Besides...He's not a coward; he just needs some time to let this all soak in..." Jupiter shook her head and began to walk towards the front door. "I'm gonna go see if I can find him. I'll be back soon." With that, Jupiter walked out of the house; in search of her younger brother.

It didn't take Jupiter long to find Lucky, a mere few steps out of the house and she spotted him. Talking to a mysterious pony, not so bad. What was bad, was the creature standing behind the pony talking to her brother, a full grown Griffon right here in Merco, in plain site nonetheless! Jupiter didn't know if it was one of the Griffon warlocks or not, what she did know was that to be stalking around so nonchalantly took balls, and Jupiter didn't trust it. "Lucky!" she called out. "Get away from him! Dad!!! Silver! Trouble! Get out here!" she yelled at the top of her lungs. Jupiter was unarmed, but she was quite skilled in hoof to hoof combat...against ponies. Only problem with that was that her opponent was not a pony, and Griffons, even the non magic using one, were quite a bit more dangerous than a pony.

A look of surprise crossed Dusk's face as he took in the pretty mare that had just stepped out of the house. The surprise grew greater when she appeared to look directly at him and call for help. "Please miss, don't be alarmed. I truly don't mean you any harm," looking over his shoulder at the griffon, then back at the mare. "Me and my companion were just passing through. About your concern, I haven't got a clue."
The griffon behind him nervously clawed the ground. "Come hermit, we really should be leaving soon. I don't think it'd be a good idea if it were known that I'm-" Two more stallions burst out of the door. "Here."

Silver Lance and Mercury Breeze were out moments later, swords drawn. Their eyes widened at the site of the creature, they advanced a few cautious steps forward, pointing their swords at the Griffon. "You're not the problem, pony." Jupiter spat, she galloped over towards Lucky and the pony, making sure to keep her distance from the Griffon. "Your companion isn't welcome here; you know that, don't play stupid with us." Mercury nodded, his eyes glued on the Griffon. If the Griffon knew who Lucky was...God, if it attacked, all remaining hope Herlia had could be snuffed out right here and now. They were in a dangerous spot; they needed to play it safe, less Lucky get hurt. "Griffon! Leave now, and nobody has to get hurt. We'll go our way, and you can go yours." Jupiter swallowed, beads of sweat running down her brow.

Dusk's eyes widen as even more elements of shock course through his body. He stares in disbelief at the sudden flurry of panicked activity around him. The mare had suddenly reacted badly towards his companion, for reasons he should have known. With a sigh, he steps between the two groups, his wings flared out beside him, both his short sword and his bow clearly evident to the ponies in front of him. "I do not understand why he is your foe. Could somepony please explain, and make it slow? I have been without companion for years, for the lonely mountain I live on dashed away those who would be my peers."

Lucky stumbled a few steps backwards as the presence of the griffon was made known to him. He looked the griffon over carefully, never in his life had he actually seen one in person. He didn't know if this one was a magic user or not, but he assumed that if it wasn't, the ones that were wouldn't look much different. As Jupiter galloped over, Lucky instinctively walked towards her, his gaze never leaving the griffon. If he really was the heir to the throne like his father and the knight had claimed, than he knew that he would most likely have to fight one sooner or later. He wondered if a time came when it was kill or be killed, if he could really slay a beast such as this. The thought made him sick to his stomach. "If you want and explination, get one from the bird. My job is to protect the kingdom of Herlia, not to inform ignorant mountain ponies of things they should know about." As Silver Lance spoke, Mercury silently motioned for his children to come to him. Jupiter and Lucky slowly made their way around the griffon, doing everything they could not to draw attention to themselves. Once the duo was back with the father, Mercury spoke up once more. "This is you two's final warning. Griffon, your kind isn't welcome here; get off my land, or die where you're standing."

Glancing back and forth between the two parties, the griffon obviously didn't want to tangle with all these ponies. Pushing him back with a wing, he called back until he got an affirmative for how far back the griffon should be. Once the griffon was safely far away, he cantered back to the other ponies, shaking his head at the odd turn-of-events this day had taken. His wings spread wide to show he wasn't hiding anything, he spoke as calmly to them as possibly, his voice mirroring the ice calm his demeanor had taken on at the hint of violence. "Please, let the peace in my eye tell you that this is not the place to die. What do you mean that Griffons are the enemy? Have we no sympathy? As I said before, I live on the mountains, where I am without war."

The ponies watched as the griffon backed away from them. Once he was a safe distance away, they turned their attention to the pony. "Well then, what do we do with this one?" Silver Lance asked, turning towards Mercury. "Not sure...we can't exactly just let him go, the griffon was traveling with him for a reason. He may have told him something of importance." Jupiter glared at the pony, not ready to take any chances. "I say we take him inside and pry the information on of him." Mercury looked at his daughter, shaking his head. "Hold your temper now dear, that won't do at all. Sir, would you mind stepping inside with us, clearly there's some information you've missed out on, and you may very well have something of value to us." Jupiter watched the pony, hoping he was smart enough not to put up a fight.

Still keeping his wings well away from weapons, Dusk follows the ponies complacently back into their house at their beckons. Once everypony is situated inside the house, Silver opens his mouth. But before any sound can come out, Dusk speaks up, "Would I be right in believing that the peace with the Griffons is sinking?"

Lucky stayed close to his dad and Jupiter as they led the pony into their hut. They all set down except for Mercury, who continued to watch the griffon from the window. Tbe pony's question was met with soft chuckling from Silver Lance. "Oh you clearly have no idea just how serious the situation is. The Griffon's are trying to invade our lands as we speak, a new breed of their kind is causing quite the stir at the capital. Somehow they've taught themselves to use magic." Mercury nodded, his eyes never straying from the window. "These Super Griffons have been trying to overthrow us for awhile...You should really be wiser when choosing allies, hermit. Should you have gone into town with the creature, you may have both very well been killed...It's gone," he annouced, walking over to take a seat at the table. Lucky continued to stay quiet, not exactly happy with having ended up back home so soon. "Which brings us to our next concern. Just what was he doing with you? We need to know what he said to you!"

Looking around at the serious faced ponies surrounding him, Dusk got the sinking feeling that he had suddenly been placed with significant company. With a heavy sigh, he explained everything from the beginning. How the griffon had hired him to find items of importance, just what those items were, and that he was to tell no one of this mission after he had received more proper orders from the Griffon High Command. He told of how the pay had seemed to be promising. And then he got to the most important piece of information, but he hesitated on this, deciding he needed to make terms with these ponies. "You must understand, I had none of this planned. I feel that you were already searching for these items, and I wish I could tell you that I have sighted them. But alas I haven't, and because of that I don't feel so gallant. But I believe I can be of assistance, if only for a small pittance."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 03, 2012 1:13 pm

Jupiter glared at the pony, not amused with his offer. "Small pittance huh? Obviously you don't understand how important this is." She put her front hooves down on the table, leaning towards the pony. "You're gonna help us, and you're gonna like it. Your pittance is gonna be getting through this war with your life. You're our hostage now and-" "Jupiter, shut up," Mercury's voice was calm, but his face showed otherwise. He grimmaced at Silver Lance "They know about the items, and the prophecy. If they know that much, then they may very well know that Lucky is the heir." "If they knew that Lucky was the heir then why didn't the Griffon try and kill him?" "That, we may never know. What I do know is that we need to get moving, fast." "That still leaves the question, what to do with this one?" Jupiter asked, pointing at the hermit pony. "Good question...He knows even more now than he did before...."

Not one to panic, Dusk calmly stood up, silencing the other ponies. "I believe I was misunderstood, please hear me if you would. I wish to help any way I can, even if that means travelling with you throughout the land. For I feel guilty being misguided as such, and that's not something I appreciate very much." Without a moment's hesitation, he draws his sword and hastily puts it on the table before the youngest pony there. "If you truly are my sire, then my sword is your's without hire."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:04 pm

Lucky stared at the pony's sword, feeling sick at the sight of it. "Oh no..." He looked away, his throat suddenly becoming very dry. "No, no, no no no..." He slowly shook his head from side to side, looking back up at the stranger. "I already made how I feel about this very clear..." Lucky looked up at Jupiter and his father, and then at the knight. "I don't want your sword, I don't want your items, I don't want your quest..." Now more than ever, Lucky wished that he had made it past his yard; he wished he had had time to think. "Lucky, we really don't have time for this...We'll talk about it later, right now we need to get moving." "Prince these items aren't able to be wielded by just anyone. It takes a special kind of pony to handle this power."

"Well I don't want the ******** power!" he snapped back. The more they talked about his "duty" the more upset he became. "Why did you wait until now to tell me?! Why couldn't you have prepared me for it first. Why does it have to be when no isn't an option?" "Son..." "Answer my question! Why couldn't you have at least given me a heads up? Is it because you thought I would try and run or something?" Silver Lance and Mercury were silent a moment, both of their gazes had fallen to the floor. "We had...considered the possibility..." "So that's it then. You ever stop to think they maybe I would be more thrilled about the idea if I had a chance to mull it over instead of being herded into my own demise?!" "Son..." "Stop calling me that! You're not my father, you're my uncle; UNCLE! Nothing more..."

Jupiter couldn't believe what she was hearing, her mouth dropped open. "Lucky you- How can- Augggghh!" She glared back at him, seconds away from popping him herself. Jupiter didn't want to believe that Lucky was a coward, she really hadn't thought it to be true, but now...Now she didn't know what to think. Her father didn't say a word, neither did Silver Lance; for a few seconds everyone stayed silent. Before anyone else had a chance to speak up, a defening shockwave boomed out from the front yard. Silver, Mercury, and Jupiter were already out of their seats. Lance was the first to the window. "We've got company!" Outside on the front lawn were 14 or 15 Daggertooth Griffons. They were all dressed in jet black hooded robes; the robes were decorated with blood red emboidery. In there claws they carried thick, ironwood staffs, marked with strange foreign writtings; their faces were decorated in deep purple warpaint; a smoking crater burned in the earth in front of them.
