Yes, all of this has been discussed with Cinna. I'm not some sort of rebellious insurgent (as far as you know... twisted ). She was gonna give the final sign-off on everything...but then she disappeared. These ridiculously long descriptions serve to both make sure I understand my own thoughts, and to clarify anything Cinna may be confused about.

I do seriously wanna know what you guys think though.

NPCs! I forgot to talk about NPCs!

Even if we don't redo the rest of the RP system, I'm gonna push for NPCs.
I figured it'd be easiest if every cabin got 2 NPCs. One male, one female. Exceptions would be Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades and Hermes. The latter of the which would get 6 instead of 2 (4 actual children of Hermes, 2 unclaimed. It is, after all, the biggest cabin).

NPCs would have their own thread for profiles, with a structure similar to that of member-made campers. The difference is that the history section, as well as perhaps some of the other sections, would be blank. When you use an NPC in an RP, one of the RPers is required to add a sentence or piece of info to the profile. Why? Just 'cuz I thought it'd be fun. We'd keep a log at the bottom of each profile showing who used each character when, or perhaps color-code sentences. Maybe both. I figured they're community owned characters, the community should be responsible for creating them.

The basic rule for creating an NPC is if you mention a name that does not belong to a member-made camper or an already created NPC, you have now become responsible for starting the profile.

I for one vote yes to the NPCs. As far as everything else? I don't like it. Cinna knows what's best, so if she's backing this then I'll give it a try, but I'm afraid you are going to have to explain your system for all those fighting stats and how they're going to be used practically in the roleplay. And expect me to poke holes in your system constantly. Other than that, I'm down with it.

I do apologize if that sounded like we're getting off to a bad start, but I'll review your earlier post about the fighting stats and see if it still confuses me. Again, I am entirely willing to work with you, and please forgive me less-than-pleasant first reaction; I was a bit startled.

I love the idea of having CTF games and, if it is not offensive for me to say, have a system I used to run for them if you'd be interested in using it/would let me work with you on it. I didn't hold CTF in this guild even when I was a crew member because I joined the guild when it was already established. However, I ran CTF for some other Camp Half Blood roleplays of various different literacy levels and numbers of roleplayers & characters, and it was a hit each time with very little variation.

Please, by all means, I'm open to suggestions. The battle system post was intentionally vauge because, to be honest, I haven't quite worked out all the details yet. I want the system to be customizable based on the character's background, skills, weapon choice, and Olympian parentage, but it still has to work with nothing more than the tools Gaia has to offer (the number generator, dice rolling). That's proving to be a challenge. If anyone is willing to help, I could do the full-blown write-up based on what I've got so far.

As for roleplay effectiveness, the battle system would, among other things, give some motivation to be active. The concept of being able to track and demonstrate a character's improvement over time would give the guild a video-game type feel. Plus, I haven't seen it in any other CHB guilds to date.

I haven't even started working on CTF games yet, so...

At this rate, the only things I can say I am going to REALLY push to get passed are the new profiles, NPCs and the new RP system. And even those are subject to change and alteration.

But you guys gotta admit, it is getting kind of annoying having St Patrick's day and Christmas occur on the same "day."

We'd still have the occasional guild-wide RP. Did I fail to mention that?

Ahhh, okay. And the new profiles I can definitely get behind. I do request that I myself am allowed to make a new character, and wouldn't mind killing off the one that I have to do so, it's just that I was rather new to large RPs when I created the character and unfortunately she doesn't do anything--this has nothing to do with any changing profile systems, I just created a bad character and have been wanting for some time to replace her.

And you had failed to mention that earlier; all of your posts make much more sense now, thanks for clearing it up smile

As far as the fighting system, I'll admit I still don't like the idea of all those details. I'd be willing to give it a try, but it does sound limiting to gaians' creativity. The biggest thing that characterizes RR's battles was that he could get goofy with them, that characters could think outside of the box. What I'm afraid of is that within strictly calculated blows (NOT the dice roll wins and losses, I agree with you on that part), strict options of who punches and kicks when and where and how hard, it will be impossible to pull Percy-Jackson-style moves; ex: a son of Poseidon attempting (dice rolls can determine whether or not it works, but the ability to attempt is what I fear may be eliminated) to explode plumbing in a bathroom, or a daughter of Demeter attempting to foil an attacker by causing roots and grass to trip them, or a camper of any parentage throwing tacos and starting a food fight to cause a distraction that allows them to sneak away. I apologize if this post is particularly long or rambling, but this is what I mean. What your battle post system appears to leave out is the kind of creativity that all roleplayers should have and that most of us like the Percy Jackson books for in the first place.

Ok, so we got all of this, can we role play now, I mean we are basically all talk no action, but I am guessing we are all busy with school/collage crap like that, so I hope we can kick the on button...... on!

Spaz, I like all of your plans (particularly the one about the different threads for different groups...everyone knows I have attendance problems, and that might make it slightly less annoying for everyone but you). The one thing I'm not sure about is the new fighting stuff. It seems kind of complicated to me, but if I made an effort I think I could follow it better. Liz doesn't really fight anyways, so I guess it wouldn't affect me that much. Wow. I just completely talked myself out of what I was saying a few minutes ago. Where were we?

Okay. Basically, I agree with everything you're saying. Yay Spaz! (Hola, everyone else. I'll try to get on more often, or more realistically, I'll get on occasionally for a couple weeks and then be gone for months again. Sorry. I just skipped a grade into high school and, understandably, have more work than I'm accustomed to.)

Soooo sorry guys, this year has taken me completely by surprise. I got super swamped with stuff midway through last month and have truly not felt like writing any more than I have to (curse you English classes!) so I haven't been on at all. But I'm back now. And I really don't feel the need to update anything if people are okay with things as they are. All I do really care about is that now that the Son of Neptune is out we can get camp Jupiter plotlines going. Theo needs to meet his own kind. So, if we see Cinna at all, nag her.

Spaz, please clarify. Is this a Percy Jackson roleplay guild or a Camp Half Blood roleplay guild?
