Make a detailed one and add it in separately? Then add a summary prologue at the start

I'm thinking I'll write then Main story first then the Character Backstories... Like the Flashbacks in Naruto... XD

It's always good to develop the characters to the point the reader wants backstory. Can I suggest mentions to the past by the characters and that ONE interesting sounding event that NEVER gets explained.

Or have "strategic" flashbacks to explain a certain point?

Incidently, I'm only just writing the first chapter now, as I have spent most my time so far devising Character devolopement and backstories.

The hard thing about writing Naruto OC fiction is that there are a lot of them out there. You really need to make the characters stand out.

lol well that's the important bit. It took me 21 seperate notebooks and two years before I was satisfied that Kaze had enough character development (and kinda ran out of blood)

Put some past into it. If you can sell a character as having a reason to want world domination as opposed to just being a jerk it looks good.
