Wow, that's really good for a nine year old. Here's something I wrote when I was about nine:
"Here you go," Mom gave James $3 for cleaning his room. I was bored out, watching the angel episode of Doctor Who on TV.
"Hey, James," I began, "what are you going to spend those beauties on?"
"I don't know. Gifts, maybe. Some new games are going cheap at Target."

And later in the story, the girl gets a game called Claire and when she opens it, she gets sucked into 1915 and has to stop the Spanish flu.
