Sick Day
Valerie sat on her bed, among the various dolls and plush of every shape and form. She sneezed, just recovering from the cold that kept her in bed these past few days, this was the first time she felt well enough to get up and maybe even go outside. Stretching her arms out, Valerie cautiously poked her feet out of the blankets onto the cold floor, and quickly retracted them back into the warm oven that was the comforter.
Maybe she'd wait for the doctor to check up on her before she got up, it was too cold anyways.

Obert shuffled through some papers scattered lazily across his desk. He was in the habit of discarding his mail on top of his other more important documents as an incentive to sort it later, but he'd let the pile collect over the past couple of days, quickly becoming a disheveled mess. After tossing out a number of junk mail advertisements and stashing away a few "fan letters", he came across a note written in the familiar neat handwriting of Cybille.
"Valerie Mint - Requests a house call today, if available. Complains of flu-like symptoms and has been bedridden since yesterday."
Beneath that Cybille wrote her address and the date and time the message was taken. "That was yesterday..." Obert murmured disappointedly at his carelessness. Unlike some things, he took his profession seriously.
Obert hurried up the rest of his sorting to make sure he hadn't missed any other appointments before grabbing his coat and any equipment he might need. He wrote a quick sloppy note to inform Cybille he was leaving and left it on top of her tidy desk.
--
"She probably just has the flu," Obert thought to himself as he climbed the steps to her apartment. Although Valerie was no stranger to his clinic; she'd been a patient numerous times, generally for bumps and bruises. "She is a bit clumsy though..."
He reached her doorway and knocked, hoping for some sort of response. If she was still bedridden he remembered she kept a key beneath her mat, but he wasn't about to barge in unannounced.

Her ears perked up, the doctor was late, but at least he still came. Excited, she encased herself in a smaller blanket and ambled over to the door. Slowly she made her pace and happily answered with a stuffy-nosed, "Hi"

The door opened and a petite sheepish Valerie appeared, her voice barely recognizable beneath her congestion. She seemed a bit smaller since he'd last seen her, but that was likely because most of her frame was covered in a small blanket.
"I'm sorry I didn't come sooner," Obert spoke sincerely. "How are you feeling today?" It seemed a bit ridiculous to ask given her apparent condition, but he felt a need to be polite.
