[Entry 002.75] [a.n] this is quoted from the Aekaeva thread.
Nathaniel lightly hummed as strode into the flower shop, immediatly infinitely more relaxed. The scents of frshly cut flowers, the slight smell of earth, the entire atmosphere bringing Nathaniel into almost a lethargic state. Behind him, Aerin was, for once, being distracted from Nate...the flowers in this shop were gorgeous ! So many colours and variations-- he could've sworn that some of them were hybrids of two elegant types, with their shades varying from bright starbursts to gentle pastels.
Fascinating! What really intrigued him though, were the pricey roses, a deeo shade of scarlet and wrapped carefully in seran wrap, and tied together with a pale yellow ribbon. He reached a hand out to touch a petal, transfixed by the sight of such a simple flower looking so...elegant. How could a flower look elegant?
"Roses always manage," Nathaniel murmers into Aerin's ear, reaching over to grab the boquet with a newly gloved hand (oh, the power and trust of pockets, he mused), careful of the thorns that threatened to burst through the thin tissue. With his naked hand, he reached up to affectionately scruffle the boy's hair again, as Aerin looked up at him through messy bangs, nose scrunched up and tiny slim hands reaching up to try and pry Nate's hand off.
"Waiiiiuuu~ Let me goo Naatee..." Aerin fussed more, as Nathaniel laughed like he sunshine in his veins. He made sure to poke Aerin quickly, before placing his hand back on Aerin's head, carefully and subtley leading him around the store (hmm, there are others here!) in a vain attempt to keep the precious boquet safe as well as distract the mouse boy enough to keep him floundering.
Aerin whined as Nate's plan succeeded, his heavy bangs obscuring most of his vision, as he helplessly clung to Nate's forearm and tried not to knock a display over.
Nathaniel approached the flower girl, and carefully laid the boquet down with a lera beside it, grinning at her devilishly. He then turned his full attention on the boy, covering his eyes with his arms, pulling him into his chest.
Aerin felt Nate's laughs rumbling through him like thunder, and almost gave up the will to fight-- that is, until Nate poked his side, and he let out a small high pitched squeak. There were no words exchanged between the two as Nate suddenly stopped and stepped away, something concealed behind his back. He presented the roses to Aerin, and smiled toothily.
"You were fascinated, I love plants, and I've got extra cash. I only require that I get one of those!" he laughed easily, as Aerin looked at the boquet with wonder.
"Thank you!" Aer stepped up to Nathaniel and briefly wrapped his arms around him, a tight hug in order. He was still pink, and had been from lack of air for the past few minutes; but it was different now. Aerin mumbled thanks again, before looking at a clock and hastily retreating, running clumsily away, yelling back a promise to talk to Nate later.
Nathaniel waved, and resumed wandering the flower shoppe.
Sometimes, a little kindness is in order. For everyone. He smiled wistfully at an orchid, carressing it gently with garden worn fingers.

[Entry 003]
Nathaniel watched amusedly as the poor boy straggled off, half tangled in his clothing. As Aerin faded from view, Nate turned to leave. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a flash of red. Due to natural reaction, his eyes flipped back to it, thinking he saw a red usually only evident in obnoxiously dyed hair...
'It can't be him. He's been gone!'
And it wasn't, it was a small pot sitting on a shelf about a foot higher than Nate. He pouted, but reached up to grab the small pot anyway...It was a small plant, he realized. Oddly enough, it was leafless-- used only for it's flowers.
Tiny red flowers. Deep red flowers.
Nate rotated the pot, looking for a tag. He found one hiding behind a cluster of budding petals, and pulled it from the slightly damp soil.
"Hm. A variation on Solenangis aphylla! That would explain it!" he exclaimed, almost dropping the poor plant in his excitement. He clutched it tight, and bounded to the counter.
"How much is this plant?! Holy-- Ah! I just must have it!"
The girl looked at him slightly oddly. "How...much?"
Nate nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! This is rather rare, and I reaaalllyy~~ want it!" he bounced on his heels, smiling from ear to ear, his slim tail actually wagging.
She raised an eyebrow, "It's free."
He blinked. "What? Noo waaay~ That's so cool!"
She nodded. "Yup! All those are on the verge of dying, and they've been in here forever. All yours. Take another one, please!"
He laughed lightly and shook his head. "No, just this one is fine."
She nods, and marks down something in a book she produces from under the counter. "It's all yours!"
He nods and expresses his gratitude, and takes some free plant food offered to him by the girl, and bounds his way to the inn again.
"What shall I call you?" he says to himself as he weaves in and out of the thinning crowds outside.
"...I believe I'll name you..."

[Entry 004]
Nate smiled to himself, watching the strawberry fields dim.
It was dark, and it was time to go....to the hotel.
Nate set off, basket in hand, and watched the stars.
He'd been here for...over a week already. Almost two.
He missed Tien. He missed his flowers. His room, all tangled with vines and the perfume of flowers. He missed home.
But...who knows how long he'd be here?
A month? Two? Twelve?
He decided he'd better suck it up. If he wanted to do anything, it would be here in too-cold Raime, with Aerin and strange sheep boys for company and his orchid, his orchid with no leaves no real roots no attachments no outspreading, there for the looks and the sweetness and not much else.
He reached the Inn, rustling with the sounds of dinner...He slid into his room, said hello to the Solenangis aphylla, and curled up in his bed and pondered calling Aerin.

[Entry 005]
Nate lay sprawled out on the small sofa in his living room.
Goodness, he's been here too long. Calling it his. Fixing that.
Nate lay sprawled out on the small sofa in the living room, with Aerin sleeping on the chair next to him.
Nate twirled a leaf absently, but carefully. It had fallen from his orchid, and he was wondering when it'd bloom for real.
If it ever would. He was beginning to lose hope for it, in Raime. The poor thing was accustomed to heat and power and warmth.
Nate shifted his eyes to watch Aerin doze. What a cute kid. His ears twitched in his sleep and he mumbled and rolled over. The chair was half as large as the sofa, the thing was beastly! Aerin was almost engulfed by it, a horrible shade of mauve about to eat him up.
Nate laughed softly to himself, and got up, stretching. With a quiet leap, he bounded to the small closet, and tugged out a blanket. It was a neutral blue, cool like the breeze on the sea. He pulled out a towel too, for himself.
He silently went back to Aerin, and wrapped him in the blue sea of cloth. He gingerly lifted him, and, towel draped over Aerin's sleeping form as a makeshift table, wandered into his bedroom. He placed Aerin gently down on the far side of the bed closest to the wall, and closed the door.
Nate yawned. What time was it? Can't be later than ten, but he had called Aerin over at three...'That kid plays a mean game of chess' Nathaniel murmured, and slid into the bathroom and flipped on the light.
The miniscule room was bathed in a warm yellow light, and Nate reached down to turn on the shower. He tested it for warmth before stepping in, and while waiting he stared at the ceiling.
'I...think. That I will return to Tien soon...' he says outloud, to himself yet to everyone.
Somehow, saying it outloud made it more final.
He stepped into the shower, letting the warm water cascade down his body.
He let his thoughts wander, from life to love and back again, and before he knew it he was yelping because of the cold water beating against his face. Nate scrabbled out of the shower, and grabbed the towel he had brought and huddled in it.
He snuck into the room again, where Aerin was stirring.
"Nate...?" Aerin mumbled sleepily, and Nate only replied, "Shh....go back to sleep, kiddo." as he slipped into a pair of pants. He crawled onto the bed, and leaned over and kissed Aerin's forehead, and stroked his hair.
Such a sweet kid. He'd hate to leave him behind.
Nate slipped into slumber, his breaths evening out so that only the whispered breath of two friends could be heard.

[Entry 006]
Picked clovers. Sucked. There were weeds. 'Sswhy it sucked.
Will write more later. Feeling sick. Aerin not awake. Writing in the dark.
Am I dreaming? Is this legible?
Woops. Aerin moved. Better go back to bed.
Candle blown out, darkness blankets. Comfort in the coldness, found in pale arms and thick blankets.
