Thank you. I've always viewed those commercials as comedic. I doubt anyone over the age of twelve is really swayed by those ads. Just a question, have you seen that MADD marijuana ad with the talking package of rollies, or is it just in my area? While I like the idea of having a "smoke safely" campaign, I hate the actual commercial.
I know 16 year olds (Fundamentalist Christian) and 13 year olds of any religion who believe that marijuana fries your brain like eggs on a skillet (that was the commercial in my day). I'm trying to reeducate them. I tried to join MADD as a mother against drunk driving who believes that you should encourage your kids to drink at your home (risking that I'd get a 4th degree felony!) with their friends so that the parents can make sure nobody drives home drunk and everyone who has been drinking either spends the night or gets a sober ride. Sadly, I couldn't find any good forums to join and talk about how to really stop drunk driving. Drunk driving is sooo much worse than underage drinking. I would prefer that my daughter wait to use recreational drugs, or any sort of drugs where you instead of the doctor decide the dosage, until she is mature enough to make responsible decisions that don't harm others and don't ruin anybody's life. (This could be early, I've seen mature enough 10 year olds, or never, I've seen many adults who aren't mature enough yet) But if she is going to anyway I would far rather she make stupid mistakes with drugs at home where I can call 911 (and maybe claim I had no idea what was going on in the basement?), confiscate keys, offer a couch to sleep on etc. etc.
