I have interesting news. I already knew that a Warhammer 40K based MMO was coming out, but they are also releasing a first person shooter called Space Marine next year. I have watched the trailers for both and they look awsome.

I occasionally play Dawn of War 1. I own Dawn of War 2 and my computer can handle it, but I don't enjoy it as much. There's too much focus on micromanagement for my liking.
I could go either way on the "no base building" thing, but my preferred way of decimating bots - which is what I play against - is to mass an army while defending my base, and then go out and just wipe out the bots once I'm happy with my army.
My preferred army is the Sisters of Battle, because... I dunno. I just like female characters in games. : 3

"Space Marines wouldn't use cover" < Lie, they do use cover, they make use of it alot when they need it, concealment too.
Secondly, those of you who haven't played the multiplayer of DoW II and still cling to the fear of the rush, well there's a yes and no factor. Namely, if you play the control point maps the rush isn't so much of a factor.
However, DoW II multiplayer has alot of micro-management involved in it, meaning you leave a squad just sitting there, they're gonna get owned if you don't keep them moving.
All in all, it's a great experience, and if you bother to actually get some cohesion going with your team mates, you'll win most of the time.
(( Add me on Steam, I'm panzer421 or add me over Live Games, I'm Urlok Gaur.))
For those of you who don't know, there is also a 40k MMORPG in the works, they have a...trailer, of sorts up on youtube, look up Dark Millenium. Personally I dread this game, I just know they're going to get it wrong, like they did with Warhammer: Age of Reckoning.
Also, this is slightly off topic, but the Ultramarines Special Edition movie collection just went out today. Waiting on my copy. John Hurt and Sean Pertwee for the win!

The only thing I'm pissed about Retribution, is that I spent all that time playing Chaos Rising. Building levels, tweaking stats, trying different combinations of weapons, armor and other sundries. Having my characters fall to Chaos or stay loyal to the Imperium, but It won't mean jack. Retribution is going to be a stand alone game.

I used to play a lot of DoW multiplayer over a LAN. Four human players allied against four computer players is a lot of fun. I mostly played Chaos or Loyalist marines, but later on it was fun running a combined operation with me meat-shielding as Necrons, and a friend sitting behind that wall with fragile Eldar artillery and tanks rofl notmuch_23 40K first-person shooter? Ever hear of Fire Warrior for the PS2? Mention of that abomination is Heresy citizen. An Inquisitor will be along shortly to correct your mistake wink

There are some neat little connections betweenPlaces in Dawn of War and characters in the book The First Heretic. Subsector Aurelia is named after Lorgar Aurelian. There is a character named Cyrene(wink, wink, nudge , nudge), and a Captain Scarus who they name the Scarus Sector after.

I can correct the Inquisitor with a tungsten-carbide-tipped 25.4 x 101.6 mm round fired from this rifle (directs to appropriate entry in my DA account).
