*is waiting for Ess to walk up and smack me*

I own both Grandia's, but haven't beaten either of them yet. *hides*
In the first one (trying to remember so far back...), I believe I was in the final area, close to the final boss and my last save was over a grueling hour ago. I'm about to run into the next area...and my game froze. After that I put the controller down, went into my room, and started screaming into my pillow.
Didn't help that my husband was still sleeping. rolleyes

The second game, I got to where the Godsword (can't remember names, sorry) was, saw the really cool cinematics, decided that hubby needed to see it also, so I quit playing to wait for him, and kinda forgot about it.

That file got purged on the next memory card clean-up. crying

Of course, that's still not going to stop us from getting the third one though. 3nodding

While my growing list of friends who play RPGs and stop just before beating them is a trend that disturbs me, you at least HAVE the games and have played them a reasonable amount. So you are spared my wrath!

Everyone else, though...

I played Grandia, and loved it. I never finished it, and I don't even think I got very far... I liked the game, the battle system, and pretty much everything about it, I just didn't enjoy a lot of the dungeons, and I hated it whenever an enemy would appear from nowhere BEHIND me.

Anyway, I was set on finishing it, and I was at this one part, I don't remember where exactly, but we woke up in a jungle, and Feena was missing, so Sue and the lead were off looking for her ( I may or may not have passed this part, I just remember it cause I hated it cause I kept getting lost). Then, my memory card mysteriously vanished, and I never found it again. I was too mad to start over, and I really didn't feel like playing thourhg some of those dungeons again.

Phantasy Star Universe would be nifty. I'm still playing PSO, and I can't wait for PSU to come out. *wiats for fall.*

Oh definetely. Found out about that the morning of the 8th, when someone posted about it in the gaming forum, with scans. The Hermes persona looks awesome (well, I liked Orpheus too, but Io didn't look too fantastic). I"m guessing the main character has no official name? Yukari's name's ok, but Iori Junpei just doesn't sound too fun in my opinion. And he reminds me of Brad on top of that, lol.

I hope you guys don't mind me posting this, but I just wanted to share some actual FFXII game pictures I've taken:

Moogle!! ^_^

The World Map: Very Tactics-esque

Roaming through the initial city:

The bottom left of the screen you get when you pause:

A shot of a tutorial about the License System: Very much like the Sphere Grid

Title that shows up when I walked into the desert:

Sleeping cactuar?

Beastiary in one of the option menus of monsters defeated:

Crystal save point:

I got killed in one hit by a T-Rex:

- So far... everything in battle is dynamic... the camera makes me dizzy because I'm moving it constantly during battle.
- If someone could translate the option screen for me, that'll be great. gonk
- The intro to the game to when I start playing is about... 15 minutes. But you could pause and skip everything.
- The L2 didn't have a function in the US demo, but it now serves as a "Lock-On Camera" to your current target during battle.
- I somehow did a 3-hit combo, but wasn't able to reproduce it again.
- That's all for now. I can't stand another ounce of not being able to read Japanese.

I don't think I've ever heard anything about the Persona games. Are they really good?

That save point looks disgustingly similar to the Home Points in Final Fantasy XI.

While most of it looks interesting to me (moogles yay!), I gotta say that it seems dumb to have a save point that's bigger than YOU are.

The thing about Save Points in FFXII is that some of them are only 2 screens apart from each other on top of being huge.

I'm still getting used to this battle system. I haven't played FFXI before and I imagine that this is similar to it.

I know you can't understand Japanese, but any idea what the game play is like?

Could someone tell me, when did Square buy the right to Grandia?

Kazaum

The battle is very dependent on learned Gambits... automated commands to give to your other 3 members to follow sorted by priority. I've yet to use them, but I think in the future we'll see many threads asking "What's your ultimate Gambit setup?"... which will be annoying. Anyway, gambits are learned through a License Grid along with skills and other things.

And finally, "Limit Breaks" (they're not really called that) are equipable. I don't know how they work yet.

When Square acquired Enix. They just published Grandia III while Game Arts developed it. Grandia II was published by Enix in Japan, and was translated and ported to PC by Ubisoft. And finally, Grandia I was published by SCEA and Ubisoft.
