"Alright-y then. Let's head... west! Because I said so." Rae laughed softly and turned towards the western direction. He squinted at the broad horizon before him. "I'm pretty sure we can go this way long enough as to not hit the badlands..."
The hyena raised his head and scented the winds. No sign of fresh prey... Raeros shrugged off that information. They needed to be optimistic. He gave one last look around and then set out at a trot. "Well... you coming?"

Pomera thought for a minute, and nodded, "Sure, why not? It's good to have company for once..." Having stated her reply, the young hyena trotted over to Rae's side and looked up at the bigger hyena, "May I ask you how, or where, you got that scar?"

Casting a glance at the cub, Rae though for a moment. "Hm... well I had a pretty nasty run-in with some creatures in the badlands. Accidently wandered in there when I was younger. It's very fortunate I escaped with only a scar." He twitched his nose at the thought and continued to move at an even pace.

"I'm sorry..." Her words hung in the air as she walked beside Rae, and a moment of silence passed before she spoke again.
"So, do you think we will find fresh prey? They're hard to come by... At least for me. I haven't seen a live animal for days on end..." She cocked her head to one side, and looked at Rae with shining eyes.

"Yes, but we're bound to come across something." Rae kept his eyes on the land before them. His ears were perked to their full extent, listening for the slightest signs of life.
"What we need is a way to scan areas quickly," he said with a frown. "By the time we do come across something, it might be too late." Rae didn't want to go into what "too late" meant. His amber eyes swept across the horizon once more.
((Perhaps we can throw in the familiars. =D ))

"But what?" Pomera asked, her head hung down, "What can help us find prey and water faster? Something that flies?" She thought for a moment before she lifted her head up again. Then, she asked in a hopeful voice, "Do you have anything in mind on what we can use?"

Raeros pondered for a moment. "Hm... maybe. I'm not sure if he's within range, but we'll see."
Raising his head to the sky, Rae gave several loud yips. He perked his ears, hoping for any signs of reply. A moment passed in silence. Then...
A dot appeared in the sky. It grew larger and larger, until the figure of an eagle could be seen from where the two hyenas stood. Rae smiled. "Well then. Our savior has arrived."

"Wow..." Pomera gasped as she stared at the eagle, her mouth wide open in sheer surprise. She had seen them flying up high in the sky, but not up close before. Feeling excited all of a sudden, she started bouncing up and down happily, "Oh! Oh! Does this eagle have a name?"
As an after thought, she asked, "And how did you manage to get one?"

"His name's Ra... and we met in the badlands. He sort of helped bail me out... We're friends." Rae watched as the brownish eagle circled above them before finally swooping down and settling on a fallen tree. Ra tilted his head as he surveyed the two hyenas from his perch.
"Hello..." Rae said. He trotted over to Ra. "Sorry, but I'd like to ask another favor from you."

Pomera nodded slowly, still awestruck at the sight of the eagle. She was feeling excited and nervous at the same time. Following behind Rae, she stopped beside him and stared at Ra with curious eyes. She mused happily, "He's pretty..."

"Yeah... the markings on his head are quite unique." Raeros turned back to Ra.
"Would it be alright if you could scout for us? It'd be great to get some food around here. We're starved." The eagle ruffled his feathers and blinked at them. "Of course we'll let you join in. It's only fair that you get a share of the meal."
Ra inclined his head and eyed the hyenas. It would be impossible for the eagle to take down large creatures. He had been living off small mammals, and the meat was always tough and stringy. This would be a good opportunity to work together. With a quick dip of his head, Ra spread his wings to take flight.

Pomera's eyes followed the eagle as it soared into the skies, yapping excitedly as she turned back to face the male hyena, "Oh, I do hope he finds something soon... I'm starved."
She laid down on her paws, and yawned. In this heat and unbearable hot sun, it makes her want to fall asleep. Yawning again, she tried not to doze off, although laying down didn't help.
