Adrianna looked back up at Shir, "Oh! I'm so sorry. I didn't know that....Have you met many ghosts then Shir?" She was embarrassed to have possibly offended any real ghosts around...she sure hope she hadn't done such a thing. She looked around without making it too obvious, hoping she wouldn't catch the sight of a ghost nearby.

"I've met my share of things not of this world. Ghosts, spirits, whatever you would call them. Some look like humans, and some look like animals. It's not exactly something you can study though," Shir finished, contemplative.

Adrianna listened intently, picturing everything as he spoke. Her eyes were wide and filled with a sort of wonderment. "Wow...." she said, her voice just above a whisper, "You're quite lucky. I mean, I've spent most of my life simply watching my brothers and sister...you don't see much when that's all you look at...." She jolted a bit, "I mean, not that that's a bad thing. I love my family. I just...I just feel I may have missed a lot. I'm sorry...I'm talking too much..." She wished she was a ghost, maybe then she could disappear.

Firmly, but gently, Shir said, "It is nothing to apologize for." He stretched and stood, shaking out his blue and purple-spiraled coat.
"I have no family, so I cannot exactly relate. From what I hear, it can be hectic."

Adrianna nodded, suppressing another apology for her almost constant apologizing, "At times yes. But I couldn't imagine living alone..." She winced a bit at her own words, feeling as though she may have offended him with that last remark, "I mean...you must be very brave, or very lonely...I-I'm sorry...again...I don't mean to be rude." The evening didn't appear to be going well. That was why Adrianna always seemed to be the quiet one, her thoughts never sounding as good when put to actual words.

"It depends on the individual," Shir said, ignoring the stumbling apologies; he would just have to give the little ghost time to get used to him. "I can't say anything about my bravery, as I am biased." A smile played at a corner of Shir's mouth.
"As for lonely, it comes and goes. Usually when I see something spectacular. Such sights are best when shared. As for the rest of it, I have been on my own for quite some time. There is life all around me, so I never feel truly alone."

Adrianna couldn't help but giggle a bit at his mention of bias, it played at a light side of her companion she'd yet to see. When the giggles faded, her smile didn't trying to keep optimistic about his situation. "At least you're not always lonely," she said, shortening the gap a bit again, "And sometimes such things are better seen alone, not everyone appreciates the beauty of the world as everyone else."

"Indeed. I could make several of my observation outloud, and I doubt but half would fully make sense to anyone else." Shir now gave the female his fully attention, something rare and temporary as the Hollow was usually trying to see everything at once.
"Do you live with your family then, your brothers and sister?"

Adrianna nodded, "We live together though that doesn't mean all our time is spent together. Sometimes we go off alone, but eventually we all come back...though..." she paused. One of her brothers had been leaving more often, presumably to see a girl. Adrianna was a little afraid of losing him, of the change that would occur....she was afraid of being left alone. "Though things change..."

Shir nodded gravely. "That is the nature of things. Nothing is constant except change." A smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "That saying has always amused me. Change being a constant thing, even though the nature of change is that nothing is constant. I believe that is what is called an oxymoron," he said, shifting through information in his head.
"Still," he continued, coming back down to earth again, "one shouldn't be afraid of change. Surely it is hard to lose times when you are happy and content, but without challenges we would not grow as people. We could be denying ourselves true happiness by clinging to the illusion that we are happy now."
