Haruyoi Bokusenou Haruyoi Well, I'm taking summer classes, seven Saturdays (From 8:45 am - 12:30 am)
You learn the culture, language, and food.
Yesterday during snack break, we made and ate onigiri and miso soup (we didn't make the soup). Then 2 Saturdays before that there was a Shinkendo demonstration. The Japanese guy from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was there demonstrating it. This year the theme is "Samurai."
I'm really learning a lot! That's great! I hope the classes aren't too light on kanji. @Everyone I guess I should mention this (not sure what thread to put it in) the guild's advertising thread is here, if once in a while you guys could check if it's on the first page and if it's not, bump it then that would be a great help. Currently Rikki and I are the only ones bumping that thread.
Well, my teacher hasn't taught any Kanji yet, that's only for students that attend during the fall and spring.

Let's see, does anyone watch the Nick Jr. Channel in America?Ah, alright LOL. I used to when I was growing up.

Mostly "Ni-Hao, Kai-Lan" it's very educational! XD It teaches you how to say a few Chinese words. After every episode, she says "You make my heart feel super happy!" in Chinese!

I really wish I could take Chinese though, but I'm just going to stick with learning Japanese because Chinese is really difficult.

I've heard the grammar is really simple, it's just the pronousiation that's hard. Oh yeah, and hanzi (what kanji are called in Chinese), but if you become literate in Japanese, you can get the gist of simple sentences in Chinese. I went to Chinatown fairly recently and could understand (but not pronounce) almost all the signs in Chinese.

My Mom's friends from Japan came to visit (Guy and girlfriend) and we ate at a Chinese restaurant. On the ceiling were the characters and they said the same thing. They were like "this says this" and "that says that" and didn't know the pronunciation. Then we ate at a different Chinese restaurant before that and the girlfriend asked one of the waiters in Chinese "Where's the bathroom?" I was like "that's so cool!" That was the first time I heard a Japanese lady speak Chinese!
I noticed that I'm only good at foreign languages due to my awesome French grades.

Don't say that. Anyone can learn a language. They just need exposure and devotion. smile Chinese signs are pretty easy (except for a Chinese-only character in there every once in a while), one of the first signs I saw in Chinatown was 中國城大歓迎, which if read as if it were Japanese is read "China (using old kanji for country) Castle Big Welcome". I later saw that "castle" in Japanese is town in Chinese but I guessed that while reading it. It's not exactly a sentence in Japanese but I understood what it meant. Only a little later did I see "Welcome to Chinatown" in English below it. That's what it's like to read something in Chinese. It doesn't help much for complex sentences but for simple ones it's more than helpful.

I assume you meant "learning Japanese is very helpful in learning Chinese".
Well it gives you an edge I think (though i haven't studied Chinese).
Things in Chinese look like collected Japanese words like "Welcome to Chinatown" did. It was fun reading signs in Chinatown because a lot of well known companies had Chinese above their names.
The most fun was names/made up words because they're assigned hanzi based on reading. Like Verizon was 體育中心, the first hanzi is only in Chinese, but looking it up I found it was 体育 in Japanese. So Verizon's Chinese name is "focused on exercise" LOL.

My current RP―失われた♥心 ▫ Hεɑrt Lεss ( 1 x 1 )―died so I'm desperately looking for a partner to continue the character.
It was Japanese-only dialog, to practice conversation, and I hoped that someday I could rewrite the entire story in Japanese.
I wish it didn't die!! It's always where the characters meet, and BAM. FAIL RP. ಠ_ಠ

@Mistina I think bishi is English/American anime fan slang for Bishounen (pretty boy), but I'm not sure if it also can mean Bishoujo (pretty girl).
