"Ugh... Don't remind me of the forcing technique," Heather said, as she watched Shiela carry her bag to what had been the guest room.

In the meantime, Shiela was settling in, and resting from her trek across town. It was a long way from the train station to the radio station. Even so, she was still able to pack her things into the nearby dresser. As she listened, an impish, and baudy woman came on the radio.

This was Heather's station, and this girl's ON it? Wow.

Suddenly hit with a very mischievious idea, Shiela made a call to the station, using the kitchen phone.

"Hello, Crack Radio? I heard..."

"Hey, who are you calling?" Heather said, as she came into the kitchen, to fix dinner.

"ACK! Heather! Uh... Just the.. time," Shiela said, grinning.

"Uh huh..." Heather said dubiously. "Well, you're going to need something in the way of a job, right? We can always use help at the radio station."

"A job at a radio station? That sounds totally cool."

"Well we'll start you out as an intern," Heather said cooking up a nice large dinner. "I pay generously, because people's gotta eat and pay expenses. I bet you'll be no different."

( Continued from the offices of WTMI )

He follows Shiela's lead. She may notice, as he walks, that he is always looking behind him, over his shoulder, and up at the windows of buildings, as if at any time, something could fly out from any direction with intent to kill him.

Shiela looked over at Jourdaine and observed his slightly nervious behavior.

"You're awfully nervious," she observed.

He shrugs a little and tries to look nonchalant. "It's a new place. I'm just a little bit suspicious of new places..." A cat leaps out of a garbage can and Jourdaine jumps a clear two feet in the air, then he lands, slides his hands in his pockets, and pretends it never happened.

"And once again the day is saved," Shiela quipped cheerfully. "Thankfully this is a fairly good neighborhood. And here we are."

Shiela led him to a two-storey building with a definite SoCal feel, from the foundation to the terracotta tiles on the roof.

"Doesn't look like much, but the interior's very spacious, and saves on utility bills."

She unlocked the door, and led him up a flight of steps, unlocking the upper door in the hallway.

"This is it."

The interior of the upper apartment was sparsely furnished with well cared-for second hand furniture. A couch, coffee table, chair, dinette set, and entertainment center were put in strategic places in the open floor plan room.

"There's too bedrooms, and two baths. You can use our washing machine in the basement. Just leave detergent and fabric softener money, when you can. Also, if you want to bring in a roommate, run him or her by Heather, first," Shiela explained. "What do you think, so far?"

"My paranoia has saved my life more than once. Not that this is anything like the Back Alleys of South Centrall 'haven."

When the "new apartment" smell hits him, he smiles. He starts to wander around, peeking at the cabinets, touching the walls, flipping the light switch off and on, looking at the views outside the windows. She's not sure, but he looks like he's checking the defensibility of the place.

But he also looks overwhelmed. "Excuse me, how many room mates will be living with me in this large space?" The corner of his lip twitches at the prospect that he could have it all to himself.

"Ah... None. Unless you invite them, of course," Shiela said. "Heather isn't going to cram people into a one-family apartment, just to cram them in."
PostPosted: Tue Apr 11, 2006 10:26 pm

"That's wonderful.... This is... this is really nice."

He runs a hand through his hair and spins around, looking at everything again. He has no idea how he's going to find things to put on all of these walls.

"So I'll leave you to get used to the new digs. I've got to go to work... Pray for me."
