Nisori I love the font. I'm not so sure about the bg though. Info: -Alex Rosner, after building the ver first stero club system in the world Fair of 1964, built the Rosie, the first mixer dedicated to DJing. What's interesting about Rosner was that his name was on Schindler's list, so he got out of the holocaust, and if he didn't we probably wouldn't have gotten the mixer. Rosner also created another mixer with the help of Louis Bozak. The Bozak was the first commercially available mixer and featured knobs only (no faders or crossfaders). -Francis Grasso was first to start mixing like DJs do today, and made is sets more of a live performance than a sequence of tunes. He wasn't doing this in tee 80's though, he was doing it in 1969. This man litterally invented the beatmatch technique which has been used by DJs ever since. 1973 (copied and pasted from mr wiggles hip hop time line) "DJ KOOLHERC'S" FIRST JAM 1520 SEDGWICK AVE. ,BRONX, NYC IT WOULD BE FOR HIS SISTERS BIRTHDAY PARTY HIS STYLE OF MUSIC WAS MADE TO GET THE CROWD JUMPIN, HE DID THAT BY BUYING TWO COPIES OF EACH RECORD AND ELONGATING THE BREAK PART (THE FUNKY DRUM SOLO SECTION) OF THE RECORD BY MIXING IN BOTH RECORDS BEFORE THE BREAK WOULD END. THUS WAS BORN WHAT WE CALL TODAY "BREAK BEATS' Nisori -material gathered from "How to DJ Right: the art and science of playing records" by Frank Broughton and Bill Brewster. feel free to edit that as you see appropriate

Psychosis We could do that hmm...easier than making a ton of posts saying like "Trance 101 & Discussion" and then House/DnB/Breaks/Etc/Etc. Although we'd need to watch it at all that stuff, I'm pretty sure that there's already Wikipedia pages for the main styles... but we dont wanna half arse it with wikipedia... i mean its an alright source but at the same time we should kinda give our own experience into it

Okay so I'm thinking...this is maybe how it should be laid out...
I. Quick overview of Electronica, what it is. (general introduction) 1. Names for Electronica 2. Culture? 3. Brief overview of types 4. How it's made (PA, DJing, Producing)
II. History of Electronica 1. Major contributers, Moog, Alex Rosner, Francis Grasso, DJ Koolhercs, Fredie Knuckles, the three guys that started Techno. 2. History of the different types? House, Trance, Jungle, Breaks, Techno, and their types including major artists and well known songs?
Anything else you guys can think of?

Err I'm kind of dumb. Why don't you just use what Bramd put up a while back? His Electronic Music Classification thread and just add like Artists and stuff we thought he left out?

i figured that, i was more joking about the ishkurs. that should pretty much serve our purpose I think, unless anyone has something they want to add? (and maybe a history section? i mean it nicely handles the style for the most part)

The grouping of the genres is kinda odd. Like how he split trance into chunks and stuck 'em in weird places. And the subgenres of the non-house genres needs to be elaborated, either that or house needs to be reduced. It feels very unbalanced.
