Yup... I remember the first time I saw one, too. I was like, "HOLY $#&%!!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!"
Shortly after I yelled that out I was completely pulverized by them. gonk This sounds like my story. xD

First time i saw one i had just left vault 101 and didnt know where to go so i was going towards the super duper mart and stopped and heard squish squish nd tunred and saw 3 mirelurks running at me and i was lik HOLY HELL WAT IS THE and started to run and turned and started shooting them in the face wit the BB gun and the turned to start running again i went up a cliff through springvale and finally stockholm and deputy weld killed them ^ 3 ^

Well first time I ran into a Mirelurk was like ten minutes after I came out of the Vault, and I was a total noob so I had no idea what ANYTHING was and I saw one standing down by the water near Arefu and I was like 'Oh hai thar stranger! : D' and ran up to it and got ripped to shreds. >_>
They freaked me out alot at the beginning of the game because I had no idea how to take them down but now I SMASH MIRELURK KINGS LIKE BABIES.

When I first saw a mirelurk, it took me by surprise and scared the crap. I was by the Potomac River and it just came up out of the water. Luckily, I had a combat shotgun. I unloaded the whole clip into its face. Then ANOTHER CAME!

i saw my first mirelurk about 20mins outta vault 101. it was near ancharage memorial. it was a hunter and i had NO weapons so i tried running and it eventually got me and i died
i was like HOLY &$%*IN #^%T!!! XD good times... i got good against them at about level 8

I WAS Afraid of Mirelurks, the first time i saw it, i was. "OMFG!" and then i just scramed the Mouse and accidentaly pressed the Reset Button of my Baby. "the computer" but now when i was lvl. 13, i can beat Mirelurk's ***. still. kinda remember the old days with Mirelurks. now that i have the MMM "Martins Mutant Mod", it all changed. i have a photo when i was with a dead Mirelurk (i collect photos of dead mutants, and monsters in oblivion, also dead npcs that i was in the photo. you know. Posing.) But now i still scared of Mirelurks king. i didn't encounter one.. YET.

Then I pulled out a sniper rifle and shot it like ten times in the face...those suckers can take a bullet!
But now I beat the crap out of every Mirelurk I see...

Considering I already have an unnatural fear of water, Mirelurks didn't help ^^' Even now at lvl 26 hunters scare the crap out of me. It's not the overall toughness of them it's the idea of them. Of how fast and stealthy they are even though they're giant. And that charge attack. Yeesh.
