Mintaka
Painter is... made by Corel. *shuffles about the internet*

http://www.corel.com/ Corel homepage.
http://www.corel.com/painterix/home/index.html Painter IX Page

If I had the money, I would likely go for Painter IX [9] but... well, I don't. xd Plus I like 7 as it is. surprised

Painter Classic has been for some time included with Wacom tablet bundles. Don't know what's up with that right now, but I know older tablets [my original Graphire and my current Intuos2 I've had for 2 years] had it bundled. No idea if they have a page for the classic version, which is a lite version of Painter, really.

And... if it's working... *digs around*

http://kikkyou.ajora.net/halcyonic/index.html Halcyonic Tutorials ... which has one whole Tutorial at the moment and needs a massive redesign. And update, as I changed my art site name back... and THAT in and of itself... is badly out of date and broken. D:

http://kikkyou.ajora.net/halcyonic/tut01/basic01.html <--Min's how to color in Painter, version 1.

I need to add in some fo my coloring tricks I use now. Probably make a new one with those. Like how I can manage to make rainbowness with good shadows. xd

Wow thank you very much for that abundance of information ^^

I use OpenCanvas as well, but version 4.06.
It's much better than all the other versions, I think.

I downloaded it from the main webbie:

No problem - I know quite a few people out on Gaia also use Painter 7 but more for overall art then just coloring. I just prefer the effect and style I get in Painter. Fits my work method better. whee

If I update/add tutorials I'll drop some links by - I just have to figure out what to do and a piece to do it with. If anyone has any suggestions for Painter tutorials I could try, lemme know. whee

I use openCanvas myself ^_^ I've got three versions on my laptop ... XD

1.0, 3 plus, and 4 plus. 4 plus has some irritating bugs, which is why I still HAVE 3 plus. I love all the tools in 4 plus, you just ... can't save files as photoshop for some weird reason x_x; So you have to save as oci, then go to 3 plus to resave if you want it in psd format. *shrugs* There's a few more things but ... anyway.

4 plus is like a scaled-down and combined version of Photoshop and Painter. ^__^

Methinks we need a sticky for openCanvas.

Um, this might be a stupid question but why is there no photoshop forum? I was under the impression that it was a widely used program, an especially "brand name" one. Perhaps it's just a quirk of mine and not all that good for colouring after all. sweatdrop
