Jeremiah balled his hands into fists at his sides and pushed himself up off of the ground staring at the hyena, at first he was scared, but another jolt of adrenaline through his body and he regained his resolve.
"I am not weak, but you, you've got some nerve... He aimed his fist square at the hyena's nose, knowing it was a tender spot for any creature. He knew his swing would probably hit, but if would do anything was the question. If he was going to die, he was going to fight, no matter what this thing was, he was going to fight it until his last breath.

There were those cracking sounds again, and before Jeremiah's eyes, the hyena turned back into the man. His fist hit the man in the stomach, getting a little leniency on contact. There was only a grunt in response. "Why, yes. I do have a lot of nerve. Now, are you going to take me up on my offer to escort you home, or do we have to do this all over again?" He grinned broadly, gently grabbing Jeremiah's wrist and moving it away from him.

Jeremiah was just livid now. "Why can't you just go back to your victims and let me go home?"
He picked up his bag off of the ground and snorted angrily at the man just absorbing his punch. He wished he had a gun or something sharp. Let's see him absorb that.
"You're just toying with me now, if you're going to kill me then do it, if not, then let me go beast man."

"Beast man. Now that's a new one... Ah, but no. I don't have victims. Those men you saw running away, screaming? They had been beating up someone. Killed them, even. I was trying to stop them. Couldn't do it the civilized way... So I had to rough them up a bit." The man explained. "Though it doesn't matter whether you believe me or not. I don't really care. I don't have to explain myself to a child." He began walking beside Jeremiah, hands in his pockets. He looked very composed and not at all concerned about whether the boy would run again or not.

"I'm eighteen, I'm not a child, and if you're so noble then why'd you chase me and threaten me when I ran?"
Hypocrite. Jeremiah continued walking glaring at the other man as he walked. The nerve of that guy, just thinking Jeremiah would accept it and let him walk him home.

"It's not my fault you were toying with my darker nature. Besides, you called me a murderer. But I don't hold a grudge. Simple mistake. I don't suppose I look much like the innocent bystander. Not as much as you do, anyway." He chuckled, patting Jeremiah on the head. "So cute. What's your name?"

Jeremiah swatted his hand and scoffed incredulously. "I'm not cute, and my name is no concern of yours."
He was trying not to act like an indignant child, but it was hard not to when he was being treated like one. That b*****d, who does he think he is. He folded his arms angrily across his chest looking away. He was stuck taking the long way home when he was already late enough and now he had some weird, not human, thing following him.

"You're right. Well, I'm Tassel. It's a pleasure to meet you, kiddo." He grinned, reaching over to pat the dancer on the head again. He figured if he called him kid or kiddo enough, the dancer would get fed up and give him a name. Something else to address him by. Tassel had no intention of leaving the boy's side until he was safe at home. Wouldn't want those bullies to come around again...

Oh for goodness sake. "My name is Jeremiah."
He grunted patting down his hair where Tassel had ruffled it. "I'm a big boy, you know I can get home by myself."

Tassel laughed, it sounding more like a cackle than anything else. "Riiight. Not with guys like the ones I chased off running around. After they get over the initial fear of... Me, they'll be pissed beyond all reason. They'll be looking for someone to do something bad to. And guess what, little Jeremiah... They'd see you and think you are perfect for whatever they feel like doing." For no reason, he felt a need to protect the dancer. Ah well. "None of my business as it may be, I'd rather not have your body on my conscience." He looked over and offered a smile, eyes closing briefly. It made him look... almost human. But then he was back to grinning like a madman and looking straight ahead, hands in his pockets as he walked beside Jeremiah.

Oh how dignified. Jeremiah looked at the other man and scoffed a bit.
"I'm not some poor defenseless kid, and I'm not little, I'm the average height of a man my age, and I know how to fight, you just look like a lunatic and I didn't want to take my chances." Not to mention you look like some psychopath murderer chasing off four people with blood in your hair. How am I supposed to do anything without a weapon against that.
He kicked at the ground as he walked, part of him was comforted by the, albeit a bit unneeded, protection that the other was offering, but another part of him wanted to run and get away from him. The side that wanted to run also wanted to live, so that was out of the question.

"Height and knowledge of how to fight won't really help you that much against four men, Jeremiah..." He seemed to be mellowing out, perhaps calming down after the haze of adrenaline was wearing off. "But regardless. You've got a lunatic here now to make sure the fight is even...Should they ever come back looking for trouble."

"So what are you exactly?" Besides weird.
Jeremiah had lost his fear, but some still ebbed. His emotions were conflicting right now and it was starting to feel like some weird nightmare turned odd dream.

"A lunatic." Tassel laughed, his head tossing back briefly. "Now, really? That isn't any of your business... It wouldn't benefit you in the least." Tassel grinned, patting Jeremiah on the head lightly.

"It's also not any of your business where I live, but yet you're following me home, and I can't run away from you because then you'd kill me. You're not a werewolf, what are you?"
Jeremiah just stopped walking and stood in the middle of the sidewalk staring at Tassel.
