He did dodge, but the upward motion cost the leader his foot. He didn't care though, his own body parts worked better as weapons, than anything else... He decided to prevoke the angered demon further, picking up his detached limb and sending it towards Hiei instead of at the other.
Hiei got up, just barely able to stumble out of range before the limb exploded. His limbs were shaking from the effort and he promptly fell over in a corner on his own.

"So, this is the great Kurama, is it? The one this boy has relied hopefully upon for months on end... To no avail?" The man questioned. "I would expect better from you, but this is all that he has..."
The other made one move, quickly, a last attempt at stopping the demon before him. He made a grab for the whip. It of course severed his hand, but, all he had to do was touch it to create a deadly weapon for his side to win. "So ends the great legac-" He was cut off as the whip came lashing back and stuck into his middle, before it exploded.
Hiei was cowaring, sure of the leader's victory. He had curled upon himself once again to attempt protecting his vunerable and already damaged body.

The leader was truely slain... As was most of his minions slain or merely running away. Hiei obviously was forgotten, curled up into a ball on the floor, sobs were coming from his thin frame. His body was shivering like a leaf. Fear seemed to be all that he knew.... The only thing that he knew right now.... Was Kurama dead? And if so, what would happen to him?

Hiei nodded, sitting up, though Kurama still had to support him. He could help but flinch as the other went to touch his face, he was too use to being hit or worse. "S- Sorry..." He apologized for it, almost immediately.
He was still crying, and it felt like his tears would never stop now that they had started to fall. Clear, warm, salty liquid tears now that he was human.

Hiei slowly calmed and soon was quietly snuggled in the other's arms, he felt safe like this, with Kurama holding him there was nothing he had to fear anymore. Nothing at all... Or so he hoped, he felt the other shift just slightly. "I... Can't stand." He quietly informed the other.
It was true, he couldn't stand on his own, he was too hurt to do so. And to starved to have the energy for it even if he could. The only reason he'd been able to before was fear... He had feared the leader that was now dead. He felt so tired... So drained right now..... He blinked when he was lifted, he stayed quiet despite how much it hurt to be moved. He knew Kurama was only trying to get them out of there as soon as possible. How far were they from true safety, he wondered? How far from the human world?

Hiei tried to remain as still and quiet as possible. He was happy that Kurama had finally come. How long had it been? Days? Weeks? Months even? He couldn't remember, he'd lost count in that basement room. It was at some point that the other prisoners that had witnessed the leaders death had managed to start following the two for the exit. Some, it seemed had even freed most of the ones that were downstairs... Some where being carried, others were still strong enough to walk on their own. Hiei could only ponder what would happen if the demons outside this house could smell the human blood.

It wasn't long before the fox reached the outside of the mansion. He had gotten past what few guards he had come across without a problem. His theiving skills no doubt helped with that. The exit which he used was the same one he had used to enter the building, so there weren't guards that he had to deal with, luckily. That would have been awkward, having to set Hiei down every time he would've had to fight. The red-head continued walking away from the place, intending to get at least a mile away from it before he tried to fix the fire apparitions wounds. At that point he might try to start a conversation of some sort, just trying to get him to talk a little. The kitsune rather missed his voice, even if it was now slightly different. This strange trace was one that he wanted the boy to come out of.

Hiei looked up at Kurama as they made it out of the mansion. He still thought this could be all just a dream. He waited, wondering what would happen now. Sure enough lesser demons came snooping around, some dragging away the dead to feast on. Hiei shivered, he didn't feel any safer here, if anything he felt more fearful outside than inside the mansion.

Not long later, the kitsune came to a narrow stream. This would be as good a place as any to rest, and they were definitely over a mile from the mansion; he figured that now would be a decent enough time to fix the other boy's more severe wounds. The red-head softly set the little koorime down, it not really being necessary for him to be in his arms anymore. The fox tore a few pieces from his tunic, dipped one in the water, then began cleaning the dried blood from his cuts. If he were to be healed, it wouldn't be a good idea to have dirty wounds. The plants he had wouldn't work at all well, that way.
