oh ya its normally the people that are almost last that hit you with those... theres no way to avoid them as i have fouund yet... but they are very annoying

Whenever you're in first place and you get a Bob-omb, hold on to it. When a Blue Shell comes, drop it behind you and it should blow it up.

The blue shells in this game are more forgiving; it's easier to recover.

I dislike the Blue Shell, because you have to be quite far behind to get one, and then they only hurt the leader!!! They're totally useless! I would much rather get something like a Red Shell than a Blue one if I'm in 4th!

I would much rather get something like a Red Shell than a Blue one if I'm in 4th! 3nodding exactly, the only time i've found them useful is when i'm in second place and me and the guy in first place are going the exact same speed, then a blue shell comes and hits him.

if your in first, you are competing with two other ppl that are at your heels, and you see a blue shell coming, you should brake just enough so the other two or so will get caught in the blast and you shouldn't lose your place...
I find that a blue shell almost ALWAYS coincides with a lightning bolt.....
also, you can avoid a blue shell if you are in the air when it hits (air off a ramp, not an R button press). I think this is how you do it, anyhow.

No. =/ In the air is even worse because you lose more time after getting hit by a blue shell in mid air. You fall straight down, and since you were already in the air, the fall is longer, so that's a greater time loss.
I've dodged the blue shell myself without the use of items 18 times now, and you use a power boost to do this. I don't know if this is possible in 100 cc since I always do it in 150 cc. I guess I'll test that out next... Only because I heard something about wifi games are at 100 cc.. ? Which I can't confirm at the moment, so I'm not sure myself.

red930 I really hate blue shells, specially because I am always first so the shell will always hit me!!! I hear ya dude. I wish the blue shells worked the way it used to in Mario Kart 64 where it also hit anyone that was in its way as it travelled to the leader, giving the lead kart a fighting chance somewhat. It's so bad that I've raced against people that let me take the lead for the first two laps because they knew they could depend of a blue shell appearing.
