The Priests were alarmed, I guess, at what Jesus is saying. He was a threat to them -- he was already having many followers, and His teachings differ from those they teach.
But I don't want to focus on that. Whatever the priests' reason is, for me Jesus was crucified to save us from death, and I'm grateful.
Christmas is the birth of our Salvation, and we shouldn't keep salvation from other people. It is a commandment, after all, to share thee Good News in every way we can.
I am happy that I still have not encountered someone replying "I don't believe in Christ" when I greeted them a Merry Christmas. They come back with "Have a Merry Christmas, too!" and I am glad that people around the world have not at all lost touch with God.
And I hope more people will be intimate with God, as me and my friends are. It's really great to be a Christian. :]

To me and my family, Christmas has been a holiday where the family gets together (meaning everyone) and we have dinner, give gifts, and appreciate family. That being said, I come from a very Germanic family (my great grandmother and grandpa, and great uncle came to America on the boat in the 1950's.) therefore family is more important than religious beliefs and religious holidays. (Blood is thicker than water so to speak) Unfortunately living in another state makes it harder to have these traditions. So for me and my parents, it's just us and the dogs. My grandma does call every Christmas, and we wish each other a Merry Christmas. In other words, for my family, the true meaning of Christmas isn't Christ. But being around family and appreciating it. As the old song goes..."You don't know what you got till it's gone" I’m missing the feeling…

People who immigrant especially in the days after WWII or even during, left their families behind in order to start fresh, when they started their family over, they wanted to keep them close. Because it was hard to leave family members behind. I can imagine what my great-grandmother thought when she left behind my actual great-grandfather. (She re-married, my great uncle is my grandpa's step bro and my actual great-grandfather was an high ranking offical of the German Army at the time but not apart of the SS..)though she did publically protest against Hitler, that might be more of feelings of hatred... sweatdrop Family, regardless of what ills they may commit, regardless of what they believe or do, regardless of what they say, will always be there for you and help you through the harsh spots, even though it doesn't seem like it. The point is, regardless of religion, family is always important. That's why many families who do celebrate Christmas do it because it's a special family get together that reminds them of what is truly important in life and in the afterlife. I’m missing the feeling…

But this is all stuff I've been hearing from my parents and my grandma about here when I was older. It actually makes sense to me, why I feel strong pride as a German-American mutt (I'm also Russian, Italian, and Dutch x.x) and why I'm such an activist if sorts, so really the who hippie movement in my family didn't start from my dad (who did hang out with hippies when he was a kid) but from my great-grandmother taking a stand against Hitler's injustice. And being thrown into the concentration camps as a result. But again it illustrates that remembering family members who have passed, makes family more important during the holidays. I’m missing the feeling…

But on the other half the person was nice enough to reply back with a Merry Christmas because she knows I'm a Christian, and respects me for it. whooooooooo. eek I’ll erase this feeling…

To me and my family, Christmas has been a holiday where the family gets together (meaning everyone) and we have dinner, give gifts, and appreciate family. That being said, I come from a very Germanic family (my great grandmother and grandpa, and great uncle came to America on the boat in the 1950's.) therefore family is more important than religious beliefs and religious holidays. (Blood is thicker than water so to speak) Unfortunately living in another state makes it harder to have these traditions. So for me and my parents, it's just us and the dogs. My grandma does call every Christmas, and we wish each other a Merry Christmas. In other words, for my family, the true meaning of Christmas isn't Christ. But being around family and appreciating it. As the old song goes..."You don't know what you got till it's gone" I’m missing the feeling…

mada jinsei nagai deshou? No problem. The thing to remember is that everyone comes from an "immigrant family" so to speak. People who immigrant especially in the days after WWII or even during, left their families behind in order to start fresh, when they started their family over, they wanted to keep them close. Because it was hard to leave family members behind. I can imagine what my great-grandmother thought when she left behind my actual great-grandfather. (She re-married, my great uncle is my grandpa's step bro and my actual great-grandfather was an high ranking offical of the German Army at the time but not apart of the SS..)though she did publically protest against Hitler, that might be more of feelings of hatred... sweatdrop Family, regardless of what ills they may commit, regardless of what they believe or do, regardless of what they say, will always be there for you and help you through the harsh spots, even though it doesn't seem like it. The point is, regardless of religion, family is always important. That's why many families who do celebrate Christmas do it because it's a special family get together that reminds them of what is truly important in life and in the afterlife. I’m missing the feeling…

mada jinsei nagai deshou? Lol. I don't really remember much about her. I never liked her as a kid and she died when I was 7. But this is all stuff I've been hearing from my parents and my grandma about here when I was older. It actually makes sense to me, why I feel strong pride as a German-American mutt (I'm also Russian, Italian, and Dutch x.x) and why I'm such an activist if sorts, so really the who hippie movement in my family didn't start from my dad (who did hang out with hippies when he was a kid) but from my great-grandmother taking a stand against Hitler's injustice. And being thrown into the concentration camps as a result. But again it illustrates that remembering family members who have passed, makes family more important during the holidays. I’m missing the feeling…
