divineseraph Syntax450 divineseraph Drop some posters in New York City to the tune of several thousand and people will notice- Viral campaigning is a possibility. Geurilla campaigning is a possibility. Wow. You really must be extremely pretentious and ignorant of all the work that has been done and continues to be done by communists around the world to think that by just putting up posters you will be able to cause people to reject the capitalist system. Also: divineseraph We must win the hearts and minds of the people in order to successfully convert to Communism. If you think the hearts and minds of the proletariat are so cheap that they can be changed by posters then I really wonder what your attitude of the proletarian's hearts and minds are? divineseraph I want to get people to realize that the current elections are a game and a joke, and that we can get somone who will actually do s**t in the white house. As a note, I don't plan to actually stay in the white house if I become president. There's much more important s**t to do than sit in my office looking pretty for cameras. So you want people to realize that presidential elections are of no value but to still elect you to the value-less position, but you're going to quit it so you can do more important "s**t". divineseraph We must win the hearts and minds of the people in order to successfully convert to Communism. Lastly, you don't convert to communism. You accept communist ideas or you generally support communism but you don't convert to it like a religion. However you must think that we all just cling to the words of Marx because you wrote this in the topic "on a serious note": divineseraph I don't give a damn about either of them, or Marx for that matter. We have to think for ourselves, and it's a slippery slope to crazy-town if you try to take one man's ideas and emulate ALL of them with rigidity and kabbalah- Look at Christianity. Jesus is probably not very pleased with what people did with his message. I say pick out ideas, but don't idolize anyone entirely and hang on their coatsleeves saying "Marx said! Marx said! Marx said!" when you could be thinking of your own solutions to problems, even if you come to the same conclusion. I have not been a part of this guild very long and have not made many meaningful posts but I would never imply that the members of this guild don't have their own opinions. Considering the amount of argument you've caused in the past two days you have no right to think the users of this guild don't have their own opinions. You with your slippery slopes... I'll begin by saying that I don't think that the world will be instantly spontaneously changed- I've said that at least three times already, and now I'm saying it again. Posters, speeches, talks, maybe even a bit of vandalism and rioting. It's not ABOUT becoming president for the power, it's about the act of defiance in doing it- Saying "You know what, a layperson can be president too" and "You know what- ******** this beurocratic bullshit." If we can get to this stage, then we've opened eyes. If eyes are opened, then they can better see our message. And yes. Exactly. That's the point- It is valueless. It would be like getting the entire country to put down Homer Simpson or Rage Against The Machine on the ballots, but I am tangible and can speak and help unify the people. I don't WANT power, I don't WANT to control or lead. I want to do my part to make this world less ******** up. I never said I would quit speaking or being a figurehead, but I will not be an authority, and I will not take part in petty beurocracy and ceremony. We have more important things to do. Oh, come on. Really? We have to convert our economic system, doofus. I didn't mean baptising folks into Communism. Christ. I didn't say that- You're really bad with slippery slopes, you know that?- I never pointed fingers or said "you do this and are wrong because of it"- I said that those who do so are wrong and cited why. I'm not even going to touch on the first two paragraphs because in the first you have not disproven Ferguson's Investment Theory of Party Competition. In the second you are still saying that you hope to be elected into the same petty bureaucracy that you have no intention of being a part of, however you hope to use the status to rally your supporters who will also be in opposition to the office and the bureaucracy that comes with what they elected you to so that way you can do "s**t" and be the savoir of the "f***ked up" world. Finally you are saying that when you said: divineseraph We must win the hearts and minds of the people in order to successfully convert to Communism. I was supposed to hear: divineseraph We have to convert our economic system If you wanted to say that we have to convert our economic system you should have said so.

Firstly, I don't give a damn about the theory. I know, it's a money game. Fine. Whatever. Your point?
Yes, voting for me will basically be a "******** you" to the system, because I am there to take it down, not sit there as a part of it.
No, you heard exactly right. We need to convert the country to Communism. Communism is an economic system, so the only part that is relevant here is the economic factor. Were I idiotic enough to say that we should convert to Christianity, that does not mean that we suddenly have a made-up christian economy, since Christianity is religious and not economic. Or Democracy does not mean a democratic religion or economy- See where I'm going with this?
Point being, it's semantics and you know it. Please don't get bent out of shape every time I play on words or use language liberally.

I'm not going to argue with you about the first section because I don't think I'll get you to present a reasonable argument. In regard to the second you say that you intend to take down the system and not be part of it, however you wrote: divineseraph Your friend is exactly what I mean. If I get a voice that reaches across the country and the world, then I can start to change minds. I will work, within the legal confines of the system, to slowly take power from the rich and give it to the poor. And then, we can change over to communism, when people start to see that it is the right way to go. What we need is a voice. What we need is action and change. Real change, not Obama half-hearted change. The key words are "work within the legal confines of the system," I hope the contradiction is as obvious to you as it is to me. In regard to the third paragraph I think that the major conflict is in regard to the semantics, as you stated. However in a debate clarity of speech is necessary and it is your lack of clarity which produced the confusion.

The point is to show people "We can do this".
One major problem with being Communist is that the bourgeoisie have control of the media, and they still use 1950's scare tactics- They have the people thinking they WANT to be in capitalism, like how kings in feudalism made serfs think they WANTED to be below them, to follow God's plan or whatever.
If I can get people angry, and if I can get people to vote against the grain of the system, that is one step to realizing "Hey, we don't need this s**t". By showing examples of a system where capitalism is muted, they may begin to realize the less capitalism, the better. It's not the government we have to gain favor of, it's the people. It will be a peaceful riot where instead of throwing bricks through windows of corporate offices, we throw laws through the economic control of corporations.

It will be a peaceful riot where instead of throwing bricks through windows of corporate offices, we throw laws through the economic control of corporations. In regard to the first sentence: I wonder what "this" is, if its no more than this: divineseraph Do we need to crack open a dictionary? Communism is defined as a classless egalitarian system in which the means of production are collectively owned by the workers, according to my Merriam Webster. That's what I want- A system where there are no owners of factories who sit pretty making massive amounts of money on the labor of the numerous poor forced to work there by the economic system. then "this" must be very one dimensional and not very in depth. and I wonder where the rest of that depth would come from considering you said this: divineseraph I don't give a damn about either of them, or Marx for that matter. We have to think for ourselves, and it's a slippery slope to crazy-town if you try to take one man's ideas and emulate ALL of them with rigidity and kabbalah- Look at Christianity. Marx said!" when you could be thinking of your own solutions to problems, even if you come to the same conclusion. Obviously not Marx, or Stalin, or Trotsky. Maybe it comes from your pretentious misconception that you want to do something that you think no one else has tried before and that we're just "hanging on their coats-leaves," screaming quotes from Marx. In regard to the second section: You stated that: divineseraph One major problem with being Communist is that the bourgeoisie have control of the media, and they still use 1950's scare tactics- They have the people thinking they WANT to be in capitalism And you have also said: divineseraph I KNOW it's a media game. However both of these things, which you clearly acknowledge, must not be very big concerns considering you said: divineseraph Drop some posters in New York City to the tune of several thousand and people will notice. Really, those must be some amazing posters considering they're going to change peoples entire economic ideology.

My God it's like talking to a wall with downs syndrome. Seriously.
You're getting all bent out of shape over simple semantics, again. "This" refers to "economic reform". Preferably in the aforementioned direction of Communism. And when I say direction, before you say "Socialism is in that direction! Barter is in that direction!", no, I mean Communism. Without money. My style. Yes, I can do that, you're not my mother.
Who cares about depth? Depth is why we're in this shithole of an economy, everything is too complicated- You have your stocks, your bonds, your investments, debits and credits, debts, toxic debts, banks buying banks, bailouts- ******** it all. Why would we waste time with a cumbersome system like that when we can have something simple, easy, effective and time-saving? All we really need to do is allocate resources, and it doesn't take half a million guys in office buildings to do that.
Simplicity. Let's run with it.
No, the posters are part of campaigning. I have said, time and time again, that those will not instantly change the world Communist. But it will get ideas out there that many people don't even stop to think about. Along with speeches, rallies and things of the like.

In regard to the second section: While I respect the value of simplicity I don't believe that the economics of nations can avoid complexity. In regard to the final section: I understand the value of causing people to think about alternatives to capitalism however, many have held rallies and speeches and made posters and they have still not been enough to turn them against the capitalism or bourgeois media sources. While I don't discourage trying I still don't believe you're going to be much different even though some of your previous comments lead me to think that you think you will be.

That's why the RCP is out there every day doing the same s**t and fail epically. It would be disruptive. Sweetly disruptive. It's a game of poker played with out workforce as the chips, in this global capitalist market. Imagine if one of the heavy-hitter simply stepped out! Quit the game! Yes, the world would panic. And it would be beautiful. They would panic until they realized that they don't need money either- And if they didn't, they may keep their rich and starve with the fluctiating markets, but then they would be forced to rise and revolt and quit the game like we did. Frankly, I kind of want to see what the world does when it suddenly can't rely on money- I wonder if people will have the common sense to keep functioning, or if they will let themselves starve. I know they didn't have the brains in America to rise up in the 20's. But, maybe a global situation will change things. And what do they have to gain from bombing us? We have no money anymore, remember? Or, tell you what, they can have our economy. All of it. And then, we drop out. We need to be done playing their game, and this game.

divineseraph I'm sick of beurocracy. My platform and slogan is going to be "Let's get s**t done." Unfortunately, I am 20. I will run when I am 25, which will also be illegal, but I will use that to empower me. We would really sit here for another 10 years so these dumb ******** in suits can sit on their asses covering themselves in red tape while nothing gets done, for the sake of some beurocratic law? Come on people, let's get s**t done. I will campaign with fliers and posters I make myself (I am an artist and have a slight backing in graphic design) with large-scale images that is dominated on the top with block text that says "WE HAVE PROBLEMS ********", with the words stacked vertically, and then there will be a smaller-cased explanation of a major problem I see in the world- Such as the adoption system, animal abuse, warmongering and the pay gap. I will speak plainly, I will get angry, I will curse and I will wear street clothes- Not because I'm calculating how to win an audience, but because that what I wear- I am one of the people. We should vote for ourselves, not people born into another league. The media will hate me. I'm not sure I understand you here. Why would you run for a office, that is five years down the road and tell it to us? I'm not trying to be rude, though I'm unsure what office your referring to. Local, county, state, federal? Also, you need more of a plan then hating something.

I think refusing to run for president simply because your ideals are different than what people expect of the president of the capitalist society to be stubborn and immature. If you were able to be a humanitarian and get elected that way, why not flaunt your communist ideals? Why not reform bills via the legislature in place? As the president, you could very well spread ideas of marxism, socialism, communism, humanitarianism, you are the voice of the people, afterall.
I think honestly it is a good goal to strive for, and if you were kicked out of office when all you were trying to do was "change things" the current state of America as it is, the people very well might riot in hopes to overthrow organized society as we know it.
In the end, I think little short of a civil war will settle it, which pains me to say, but capitalists show little sign of wavering or being willing to change. Ever. I really dislike the idea of a civil war, considering the state our country is in right now, I think it would be quite the bloody battle, and quite one sided... wars tend to make nationalism way to high.
