lone_ronin xhilr8d yeah. i'm kind of a Trance noob but so far i'm into DJ Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren. probably the most mainstream. funny.. I get to see buuren spin tomorrow night, and will likely ignore him in favor of some of the locals spinning at wonderland 3nodding . though whose to say I won't wander through his set unknowingly... and damn linen and his getting me hooked on psy.... anyone and everyone try some of the easy to find stuff, dark soho, or infected mushroom, or X dream... it's addictive Buuren is actually a pretty good Dj, especially for Trance.

I wasn't impressed... some of his mixes felt harsh and blunt on the mids ad highs, though his beat matching was perfect as far as I could tell. I think most of the draw with big name DJ's is exactly that, the big name, he had it projected on every ******** screen he could in the place and at least 10 feet high at all times. sweatdrop it really didn't feel like anything special listening to him, it wasn't bad i will admit but it wasn't orgasmic or highly original

The thing I have to ask all DJ's is this.
Why such a big name? Why not just DJ Armin? Or the like. Why does every single Dutch Trance producer/DJ have to have a name that's like 7 Sylables long... On a single word?
Ah well... Guess i'll never know =D

EpsilonKias Except for Psytrance and Goa. That s**t kills people due to the amount of awesome emmited from it. rofl anyway, i'd say i was into trance about, 10 years ago. it was all that, epic/dutch/progressive stuff. grew out of it cuz i got sick of it. grew into deep & funky house, but not an avid follower, and i just learned that i'm a fan of psy/goa. apparently, i always was, just never really knew what subgenre it was called, same goes with trip hop. but not an avid follower of either subgenres.

Sensation Black and White were here a few weeks ago( I live in Holland, near Rotterdam) but I didn't go... it's good music, moslty, but it's too long for me.
I like making trance myself by the way, I just made something trance-y. If you people want I could upload it.. eventhough it's not perfectly polished at all. I just like the melody ^^

One of my good friends started listening to him on XM radio. I have'nt heard anything by him as of yet. Would you all suggest him?

Why do you love Psytrance so much? I know everyone's got their own taste in Trance genres, but why Psy? I'm more the Hard, Progressive, Anthem, Euro and Vocal style. Actually I like Goa and Psy as well.

I think it's because it retained it's true sound through it's evolution. Because the tracks usually sound more worked on. Because psy parties are THE BEST parties. Because the psy crowd is soooo ******** nice. Because psy owns your brain. That's why.

White Linen I think it's because it retained it's true sound through it's evolution. Because the tracks usually sound more worked on. Because psy parties are THE BEST parties. Because the psy crowd is soooo ******** nice. Because psy owns your brain. That's why. That's what I've always saw in Psytrance as well. It retaining its form is what I mean. I mean now there is Progressive Psytrance. I hope Psytrance stays the same way though. I'm kind of wondering what that sounds like. I'm trying to bring Trance to what it was before. But I just don't know how. So I'm kind of doing something called Trance Music Theory.

Progressive psy is psy but with a wee bit of "cheese" on top (a wee bit tech-ish at times too). The majority of times it's really well constructed but some of it sucks bad. If you're employing "cheese", do it the right way. And have you ever been to a psy-trance party?
