I would turn down being the "head" of such a commission (due my having no idea what obligations will come down on me outside of the guild), but I would love to participate - I would use the old committee system really rather than calling it a council. I would also point out that nobody is obligated to do the readings - what will the guild do to those who don't participate? Spank them and take away their birthday?

My goal would be to provide a lively discussion of topics important to Marxian theory, while addressing the basics/foundation of Marxian theory. I would also say that I'm not opposed to nonMarxian readings - even some writings by fascists could be deemed essential to us, particularly in regards to analysing why they are as incorrect as they are, and familiarizing ourselves with said incorrect, indeed vile, arguments. Or some of the writings leading up to Marx's great synthesis (the Utopian socialists? Hegel?). Or even, once we had an educated core, more recent questions in Marxism that may not directly relate to Marxism (Sartre, Juche, etc).

I would likewise point out that I find gracchvs as a deviant from the proper theory, but I need only call him a Trotskyite to accomplish that feat.

Also, I feel obligated to state that any educational committee cannot avoid having GC members in it, because those members were specifically selected because of their ideological prowess, high activity, and various other merits.

I still object to us non-Marxist Socialists/Communists being relegated to the role of "yeah, we'll cover you, just to show how wrong you are". Not all Communist/Leftist thought is Marxist. The Kibbutz Movement of Israel, for example, is not explicitly Marxist, and it most certainly started (at the least) as a Communist movement.

This is why the old committee system should be used - we could have multiples - lead your own if you're unsatisfied with the character of another

Okay the education doesn't have to pertain to a Marxist faction. I was talking the basics. I also like the idea of analyizing fascist texts and those of Hegal as well. Maybe we can even throw in some french revolutionary writers and Utopian socialists. Anything past Lenin you go to either Gallenger for Stalinism, Gracchvs for Trotskyism, and Tank for Juche. Maybe one or two of their texts like Stalins Anarchism or Socialism, or Trotsky's revolution betrayed. Whatever, we'll cross that road when we come to it.

So I have, Gallenger and Gracchvs on the EC. Who else?

A council would be cool to pick and choose, but may the rest of us have somewhere to suggest texts? (Or we could do it informally I suppose.)
Also I prefer the idea that people are just warned in advance and can do the reading rather than being assigned it. (And peer pressure in chat can be as good as assigning anyway, amirite? 3nodding )

Edit: And Miza, Rob. *points to the top of the page*
