Target I
HOMERUN!

Cameron Patel was one unlucky man... that much was for sure... things never went exactly as planned for him no matter how hard he tried, So, from a point forward he gave up trying to make things go the way he wanted them to... that day though, Cameron was going to be exceptionally lucky... or unlucky.

Aidan Hartman, the reknown technician had come to discuss some matters with the staff of Shibusen. Something about his daughter no less, whom he was later charged with the responsibility of finding in order to tell her to show up at the front entrance because she was being asked for. Cameron had obeyed, of course. He had never really talked to Hartman's kid, but he knew her in the same manner most boys did. Devon Hartman had a huge group of friends, knew all the latest trends, went to the best places in Shibusen and updated her blog daily with all the juicy stuff hapenning in Death City. In other words... she was too much fuss for him who'd rather ditch everything to crawl in a nice shadowy corner and read a book in peace.

Anyway, it wasn't like he was going to get married... just tell her two words and dissapear quietly, at the worst case, take her back to the entrance himself and then dissapear quietly. Somewhere along the way he was told by some students that she was out in the field for the baseball game. Cameron suspected she was there in order to drool over some boy from the baseball team along with her girlfriends. He had never expected to see her playing IN the team. He did know she liked sports... he didn't know that she was in the school team, though.

And of course he didn;t expect the ball flying straight towards him on the moment he neared the field. It dropped from the sky like a bomb and hit him on the top of his head. He stepped backewards as quickly as he could, rubbing his head but he eventually tripped and fell. Uttering a pained groan he tried to put two and two together to draw to the conclusion that no, he wasn't being under attack but it was a baseball instead thrown especially hard.

At the same time the crowd went wild.

"HOMERUN!"

Hey, wait there, was NOBODY thinking about the poor guy they nearly KILLED? Cameron heaved one sigh of exasperation.

"Hey, you, like, okay?" Cameron's world went black as a girls figure leaned over him. He looked upwards, surprised. Maybe he wasn't completely left on god's mercy. The person sitting there, towering over him was a girl with straw-blonde hair held up with skull hairpins, bright blue eyes and a worried expression on her face.

"Hey! You! Say something!" she demanded, panicking. "Damnit!" she cursed "Did I hit you too hard? Are you bleeding? Did I cause you brain damage????"

Cameron scowled. This was going... a bit too far... maybe... definitelly.
"I'm... I'm okay..." he mumbled and nodded his head fast in agreement. So this was the girl who hit him with the ball... and wait... yeah... maybe he did receive brain damage because he was so absorbed with hurting that he didn't realise right off the bat that the girl was actually Devon Hartman.

"Thank God!!!" she exclaimed, extending one hand to help the boy up. "I really thought you were a goner, for a moment back there!"

"Y-Yeah..." Cameron stuttered again, not knowing what else to say. He sat up and heaved a sigh. He had to have twice the girl's height. He grimached in pain. His head was spinning.
"Look... they are asking for you at the front ent-" he hadn't had the time to complete his phrase as he finally blacked out.

Waking up to the sterile smell of the school's infirmary he tried to recall the events of before he fainted. He sighed. He seriously did hope Devon Hartman made it to the front entrance or he'd lose a head or two. Pushing the matress with his hands to sit up, he caught the motion of a small white card falling from the bed to the floor. He reached out for it and picked it up. Small calligraphic letters written on the card with pink ink smiled at him from the white surface.

Sorry about earlier
Get better soon, k?
-Dev

The other side of the card was occupied by a cellphone number and an email address...
