I don't think it restricts thought. Nothing can restrict a persons thought.

I think it just puts certain things into new perspectives.

According to some definitions of 'restrict ones thoughts' - however, I'm pretty sure the definition in the context of this discussion is along the lines of 'cause ones thinking to dwell on only certain concepts', and things can certainly do that.

If anything, Faith empowers thought. It inspires things like Courage, Thought, Strength......and a lot more.

How would religion restrict thought?

Because you are encouraged to just go along with the bible. So people stop thinking on new thoughts and more on "God". And the chruch has historically looked down on free thinkers. Such as Galileo or Darwin. They have no ideas that do not agree with the religion so they are INSTANTLy wrong. We can see how Galileo's "Blaspheme" turned out.

I'm Christian. I go to church. Pastor West INSPIRES thought. It's so not the opposite....

Kinda weird question, but does religion place limitations on a person's thinking?

I can't speak for everyone but it did the exact opposite to me.

Actually, in order to follow religion, you need faith in being correct. Otherwise, you're only sensitive to the religion. Not Practicing.

So? I didn't say faith is not required for religion, I said religion is not required for faith.

Not on thought persay, but a person should find and look for truth in every way possible. Every falseness or lie that a person wastes their time on is time that could have been looking for truth and understanding.
