I think Return of the King is my favorite as well, because everything comes to as much of a resolution as possible in these books, everyone contemplates all the things they've learned, and it's got the Faramir/Eowyn plot in it. whee

It's a really hard decision to make but probably RotK mostly because of the Houses of Healing and the last chapter which I loved. And of course Denethor, he's like King Lear only less crazy. By the way, does it ever actually mention what happens in the rest of Eowyn's and Faramir's lives in Ithilien? It seemed kind of strange that he never mentioned what happened to them.

Return of the King has always been, and probably always will be, my favorite book. I love the way the destruction of the Ring was written and how Tolkien (bow down to the mighty lord!!) chose to do the ending in The Shire.

It is so hard to choose. Technically, the Lord of the Rings trilogy is all one book (the publisher made him separate it into 3 publishings because they thought no one would read a book that long), so I could say that I love the Lord of the Rings period. However, my favorite part of the book was The Two Towers.

Mines a tie between Fellowship and RotK.

I didn't really like The Silmarillion, I kinda skipped ahead and read the part about LotRs sweatdrop

I chose Return of the King; if there were any loose end from the Fellowship or Two Towers, it's all cleared up here. Although, at the same time, I kind of hate this one, because it signify's the end of Lord of the Rings!!! crying Oh well, I always reread things...

I'd have to say the Silmarillion. Yes, I know it was slow and drawled on in some parts, but it tells a great deal of history of that world. Plus, I mean, come on, Luthien, people. Hottest. Chick. Ever. You can't go wrong with the hottest chick ever. Thank you very much.

I have to say Return of the King. It was the second one I read (after The Two Towers, yeah, I know I went out of order) but I really liked how the whole story ended. I wasn't too fond of the Scouring of the Shire, that made it just a little long (which is why obviously it wasn't in the movie). I also love part where Legolas goes off to the sea after seeing Merry in the Houses of Healing. I thought it was just cool...for some reason. Don't ask. When Sam carried Frodo in the book it was much more emotional than the movie to me. I just thought the third book was awsome, not that the others weren't of course, it was just my favorite. Now on to the Silmarillion!
