Toby smiles as he watches Dawn walk over and congratulate her, his smile growing when she places a hand on his shoulder and mentions sending an e-mail to the professor. "I wonder what he'll say, probably something like 'About time you caught one, now hurry up and catch more!'" Toby chuckles slightly as Dawn turns to the caterpie and stands back to watch the her battle. He gives her a sypathetic look when the caterpie escapes from the pokeball and makes good its get away.
Walking over to the girl he gives her a half smile and a shrug. "Well, cant win 'um all. That was a good battle though, you two just need to practice together some more and you'll be quite the team to beat."

Dawn nodded at Toby's comment about practising. "Well, Shall we?"
They walked down the path for a long while before deciding to stop and take a break. Dawn laid down on a grassy patch and stared up at the sky.
"What great weather we're having... I hope we see a lot more pokemon...
maybe we should head off of the trail for a little bit, deeper in the woods, and look for some, hm?" Dawn lifted her head at the sound of Shamus further off towards the woods.
He was trying to use flamethrower. He tried over and over again but it was still just a little flame curving around his lips. Everytime he attempted it he looked more worried and more frustrated. Dawn got up quickly and walked over to him. He was so focused on making it happen that he didn't even notice Dawn standing next to him.
"Hey.." She leaned down and put her hand on his shoulder, which surprised him, and he spun around and burnt her wrist. "OW!" Dawn fell backwards and held her wrist, her eyes shut tight in pain.
His expression was instantly changed to Shame. He took a step backwards, looking at Dawn's eyes water as tried to push away the pain. When she looked at Shamus, his face was full of self-disgust and it nearly broke her heart. "Come here.. I'm alright..." She held out her arms to him, but he took another step backwards instead, staring at the burn on her wrist. "Shamus, it's alright, we have medicine for it, I wouldn't have a fire pokemon without carrying some Burn Heal on me!" She laughed, trying to make him feel better, but it didn't work. He looked down at the ground. Dawn moved forward towards him and lifted his head slowly with her good hand so that he was looking her in the face. "Hey, I thought you promised to train WITH me, not on your own," She gave a sympathedic smile. "We can't rush those kinds of things. They come with practice."
"Char..." he said sadly.
"We need to work as a team alright?" She smiled and rubbed his head.
"How about we try some training right now??? Before we look for more pokemon?"
He nodded.
"Alright," She stood up and turned to Toby. "How about it Toby? You okay with taking a little time to train?"

Toby and Shellshock watch silently as Dawn has her incident with her charmander's flame, and their conversation afterwards. When she asks him about stopping to train he nods. "Sure thing, sounds good. I'll use the time to get acquainted with my new pidgey.... Still need to come up with a name for him..." Turning to look over his shoulder he looks at the squirtle on his back. "What do you say Shellshock, shall we meet our new friend?"
"Squirtle!" Comes his reply as Shellshock nods once. He watches as Toby reaches to his belt to where the now occupied pokeball rests. Taking it out he hits the grey button, causing it to grow to its full size. Toby looks at it as it rests in his palm, thinking before winding up and saying allowed. "Alright, come on out. Jetstream!" With that Toby tosses the ball high into the air. Just at the top of it's arc the ball pops open letting out a white light which soon forms the shape of the pidgey. The ball returns to Toby's hand, putting it away as the pidgey soars over head.
Holding out his arm half bent in front of him the pidgey circles around to land on his fore arm. Toby and Shellshock watch the bird closely as it begins to inspect them, turning its head from side to side to eye them. After it seems to become a little more comfortable Toby reaches out his hand ever so slowly. Extending a finger he slowly begins to stroke the pidgey's chest feathers, which seems to further relax it as it coo's softly. "Haha, welcome to the team Jetstream."
Looking over he can see Dawn training with her charmander already. "Well then guys, we don't wana fall behind now do we. Lets get to it." Both pokemon nod as they leap away from Toby, Shellshock jumping to the ground while Jetstream takes to the sky. Toby watches them both, coaching them on their technique.

Dawn and her Charmander went to a tree and looked at it's bark.
"Ok, let's get started. Shamus, use Scratch attack!"
Shamus scratched the tree with all his might. Chunks of bark went flying everywhere.
"Now use Growl!" "CHAR!"
"Scratch again!"
"Quick to the right!" Shamus tried to move to the right but he seemed to do it slower than he would in batte.
"Faster! Shamus to the left!"
The Charmander moved a little quicker, but not much. Dawn could tell he wasn't taking the tree seriously.
"SCRATCH ATTACK!"
"CHAR!"
"NOW! EMBER!"
Shamus used ember, and thankfully he put his effort into this time, and set the bark on fire.
"Good Work! ... Oh.. wait. Hmm.. Ummm ... Squirtle? Can we please have some water help over here?" Dawn laughed. When the fire was out she looked at her Charmander and saw he was pumped and ready to go.
"Alright, just one more thing. Toby? Do you think I you could help me out? I want to increase his speed. Can you use your pidgey and try a few quick attacks or tackles?"

Sliding off his headphones, Harvey turns to his rocky companion. "Man, we got some awesome travelling weather, don't we buddy?"
The sun beat down on the pair as they marched, enjoying the cool breeze and generally taking it easy. The larvitar at his side looks up and nods emphatically, beaming. "Lar! Lar!" Harvey kneels down and pats him on his head. "Shouldn't be too much longer before we see a town now. Not that I'm complaining. No rush, am I right?" He grins, chuckling to himself, reflected in the face of his Larvitar. He pulls his headphones on, cranking up some tunes. A soft, low beat carries down the path ahead of them as they walk, not a care in the world.
After a short jaunt, Larvitar notices some rustling in the brush to the side of the road. "Lar? ...Lar! LAR!" He nudged at Harveys leg, knocking him off balance. "Woah, what's up dude? Y'see something?" He removes his phones, watching as Larvitar runs off to the bushes, stopping in front of the one in question. He growls slightly. "Larrrr..." "Alright, let's see what we can flush out! Give it a tackle, Larv!" With a quick leap, he was gone, diving through the leaves, followed by what sounded like a terrific struggle. Moments later, Larvitar came barrelling back out, followed by a second, slightly smaller pokemon.
"Woah! Let's see what we got here!" Harvey grins, tapping a few buttons on his wristpad. His eyepiece flashes to life, a miniscule camera scanning everything in his peripheral vision. His wristpad responds to the input, scanning through a database and coming up with an entry. It projects a tiny hologram of the pokemon in question, and states in that classic voice:
"Nidoran. Male specimen. It scans its surroundings by raising its ears out of the grass. Its horn can secrete a toxic poison, for use in self defense. Use caution."
Pressing a few more buttons, the pokedex deactivates itself. "A Nidoran, eh? Might make a fine contender in our lineup! Whatcha say, Larvitar? Up for a battle?" The Larvitar throws him an eager grin, still growling. "Alright, let's get this started with a Bite! Go!"
Quick to respond, he lunges, going for the Nidoran's paw. It dodges, retaliating with a Poison Sting! Luckily, it reflects off Larvitar's rockhard skin. It bounces back, obviously annoyed by this setback. Regardless, it continues it's attempts. "Alright buddy, give it a screech!" Larvitar shifts its feet, then erupts with a shrill, high pitched screech. The Nidoran flinches, its ears folding back. "Tackle! Go!" Another lunge, and the two pokemon collide, the Nidoran launched onto it's back.
"Okay, my turn now! Pokeball, GO!" Harvey pulls a ball out of a pocket on his bag and hurls it towards the prone pokemon. The ball connects, sucking it inside. The ball rolls a moment, then comes to a stop. "Whoo! Lucky us, eh buddy? Our first catch of Kanto!" He walks over and scoops up the ball beaming, then attaches it to his belt. He kneels next to Larvitar again, hand on his head. "Y'did great, Larvitar. Absolutely wonderful." The little pokemon grins widely, blushing. "Larrr..." "Alright, let's get back to travel. As nice as it is out here, I'd like a roof over our head tonight. A week in a tent is enough for me! Hahaha..."

Toby looks over when he hears Dawns voice. "Sure Dawn, I think we could give it a shot. Hey Jet!" Looking up as the pidgey circles down towards him he holds out his hand for it to land. Leaning in close he whispers to the bird. "Here's a little drill for you. See that Charmander over there? He's Shamus, one of Dawn's pokemon n' you're going to train with him. I want you to fly around as fast as you can and try to tackle him while he tries to evade. Got it?" The bird looks over at the charmander then back to his trainer before nodding. "Pidgey."
"Alright! Lets go!" Pushing his arm upwards Toby helps Jetstream take off. As the Pidgey circles the fire pokemon Shellshock walks over to Toby to watch the two pokemon square off. Suddenly pidgey dives, delivering a glancing tackle to Shamus as his attempt to dodge comes a little too late. Pulling back up the pidgey circles around for another go. The two pokemon repeat the process many times over, with Shamus's rate of successfully dodging slowly growing until they both become too tired to continue. "Alright Jet, that's enough." Breaking off the pidgey slowly glides back over to Toby, this time landing on his shoulder and slumping against his head. "Pi..dgey..." Toby glances over at the pokemon. "Aww, someone looks warn out. " Reaching into his duffel bag he pulls out a small can of pokemon food. Taking a few of the pellets in his hand he holds it up to Jet. "Here you go, eat up." It doesn't take long for Jet to peck through the pellets.
Just as he finishes Toby hears a high pitched noise off in the distance. "Wait a second... that sounded like a screech... But I don't remember there being any pokemon with that ability around here..." Turning to Dawn he looks at her with an excited look. "Wana check it out?" Retrieving Jet's pokeball he aims the center button at the pidgey. "Here buddy, why don't you rest in your pokeball." Suddenly a red beam hits Jet and he is sucked up into the ball. As he places the ball back on his belt he holds his arm down to allow Shellshock to climb up his arm and into the shell harness. "Come on lets go!" With that he takes off into the forest, running in the direction of the sound.

Dawn was glad to watch Shamus improve. Feeding her tired pokemon, she soundly looks up when a screech is heard in the distance. When Toby mentioned it was a Pokemon that wasn't from the area, they gather there items quickly and took off after the sound.
As they hurried up the trail, they found a person walking towards them with a Larvitar. When they see him they slow their pace.
"Hey there!"

Harvey continued walking, blissfully unaware of the world around him. Until suddenly, he nearly tripped over his now stationary Larvitar. "Woah! Watch it, buddy! Coulda knocked me- Oh?" Harvey straightens up instantly, brushing himself off and whipping off his headphones, blushing slightly at the notice of Dawn. "Um. Hey there! Nice... weather we're having? Good day for a walk, eh? Ehehe..." He scratches his head, laughing awkwardly. He looks down at Larvitar, nudging him slightly. "Help me out here, dude!" He looks back up, a quizzical look upon his face, then shakes his head sighing.

Dawn made a quiet, quick giggle and smiled at the new person. Then she looked up at the sky. "It's great weather!! I wish it could be like this everyday! It would be soo nice.." Looking next to her at Toby she decided start an introduction. "I'm Dawn, this is Shamus, and this is my friend Toby and his squirtle, ShellShock."

Toby roles his eyes at the new guy's attempt to play it cool after almost tripping over his own pokemon. His eye also twitches ever so slightly as he hears Dawn laugh at his words. However he does wave nonchalantly at him when Dawn goes through the introductions. Toby promptly folds his arms across his chest, muttering under his breath. "I don't like him Shellshock..."

Harvey smiles, still laughing, though slightly dishevelled by the cold reception from Toby. "N-nice to make your aquaintance. Name's Harvey. This is Larvitar. Go on, say something." He nudges the small pokemon with his foot, and he bows slightly, arms crossed, mimicing Toby's disposition. "Larr..." "Ehe... Don't mind him, he's always wary around new people."

Dawn smiled "Harvey is it? And Larvitar, you're the first one I've seen in real life!" She kneeled down to pet him, watched heavily by Shamus, who stared a low growl. Dawn turned to Shamus "Don't you start that again..."
Standing up she looked down and pet Shamus. "So what brings you two out here?"

Harvey response comes slowly. "What brings us out here...? Oh! Here as in this forest? Or do you mean Kanto? 'Cause we're from Johto. ...Wait, you wouldn't have know that... Well, we're visiting here from Johto! ...But wait, I just said that so... Ehehehe...!" He continues like this through several attempts until Larvitar sighs and delivers a sharp stomp to his foot. "Ow! Jeez! Thanks, buddy. I tend to ramble sometimes. Ehehehe... Well, we're here doing some Field Testing. I'm a Tech Developer." He holds up his wristpad proudly.

Toby cant help but let his eyes drift over to the small rock pokemon at Harvey's side. Like Dawn he had never seen a live Lavatar before, and he couldn't help but smile when it imitated his posture. His smile turns into a slight chuckle when the Lavatar stomps on Harvey's foot. "Well aren't you a feisty one." Looking back up at his trainer he notices the strange eyepiece for the first time, and then his wrist pad when it is held up. "A tech Developer, from Jhoto? Huh... "

Harvey smiles, glad to have the conversation turn to something he knows. "Yeah, these are some of my better inventions. Well, the eyepiece is mine. This is more a modification than anything. Combined, they do a lot. Personal organizer, communicator, Pokedex... And the eyepiece is for collecting data. Gives me a heads up display of whatever I need." He taps a button and the camera gives a quick scan of everything present, with a slight whirring sound. "Pretty neat, huh?"
