Davo Dinkum
@ Joey: If they didn't pull the red flag I would have tried to finish, I was that keen to get my first win and doing it on three wheels would have been mint. mrgreen

@ Raiku: Yeah It can be a b***h when it's the only car you've got. But is it really that bad that you can't drive the car?

@ Panda: Damn it, I want that nickname now. xd But Nah I don't think either of us are near the Main fire's, We Had a small one not far out of our town. But the CFA Blokes got right on it and stopped it before it got to us.

I only have a replacement car until Sunday and my car wont be towed to the shop until sunday/monday. Luckily monday is a holiday for me at work so I'm off with pay....... Hopefully my buddies shop can get her in/out by tuesday.

We shall see. It will all be down to whether or not I get the boot in the mail in a timely manner and can get her fixed by tuesday.

They came and picked up my baby today.

I really hate tow truck drivers. I specifically asked that he take the e-brake off before moving her an inch. Then he ******** dragged my baby up the flatbed with the e-brake on. She wasn't happy.

Also didn't bother to put blocks to keep her from scraping, so my exhaust took a nice walk on the pavement and the bottom of my front bumper kissed the flatbed. I cant imagine what he did when I couldn't see him. If there is any damage to my driveline/Brakes they will not want to see me when I go to pick up my car. Luckily the shop is really good, and a good friend of mine works there, so I'm going to have him inspect the car to see if the e-brake stunt caused any damage.

I feel like s**t and I wont see her until Monday. sad

Not every tow truck driver knows how to get a high performance car onto the flat bed m8. Best to make some friends in the industry and get them to do it next time round. So he basically just DRAGGED the car, handbrake on up the bed? ******** that's pretty harsh.

Oooh, I know how that goes. My car isn't near as nice, but with the body kit, it's really awkward to get on a tow truck. When I had it towed to get the new engine in, I nearly had to take my front bumper off to get the rack underneath it and I was twitching the whole time like "eeeeee!!! don't tear off the bumper! crying "

I'd have told the dude off right there. ******** that s**t. gonk

I wish I did know someone, and honestly, I didn't think it would be that big of a deal if I explained what to do. Honestly, everything would have been fine if he just used blocks to keep it from scraping, and took off the e-brake like I told him too. But yes, he pulled her up the flatbed with the handbrake on. sad

Yeah, I contemplated pulling the bumper off just to make things easier, but I decided, nah, I'll just tell him to use blocks. Because towtrucks generally keep two wooden blocks to keep lower cars from scraping. In fact my buddy got a different guy from the same towing company when we towed his GTO. His car was more prone to scrape than mine, but that driver actually cared, and got her up without scraping by using blocks.

And they will definitely expect to hear from me if anything is messed up on my car. I'm going to have the shop inspect for any damage. I'll let the exhaust scraping slide, as long as it is not bent anywhere.

Car is sitting in the shop with the axle out, just to find that the store I ordered my boot from sent me an inner boot instead of an outer.

UGH! s**t never goes right! sad

Woohoo, buddies shop just pulled through for me and found a boot locally. They are finishing the car up now, and I should have her back this afternoon. 4laugh

Now to send an email to the company I ordered my boot from thanking them for the front inner boot, when my receipt says 2006 WRX Frount Outer boot. neutral

I hate shitty luck. Third time is a charm, right?

After my boot came in and I took the car to the shop, we found out the boot I had purchased did not fit. The package said made in China all over it, go figure. So then they source a local boot for me. I thought that was the end of the ordeal but noooooooooooooooo.

oh nooo.

After 1 day of driving, I jack up the car and take of the wheel to clean the wheel well and wheel of any remaining grease, to find that the axle boot was not even on the axle. The axle boot they put on was apparently much to small. Ok, at this point I was pretty frustrated.......(Now don't get me wrong, this shop does quality work and goof ups do happen, but damn that is annoying)

So I ordered an OEM boot/grease/clamps directly from the manufacture, now the boot is sitting on my kitchen counter for the weekend.

I hope this is fixed by Monday or Tuesday afernoon. I cant believe this turned into such a huge ordeal. Damn I'm glad I vented.

Welcome to the world of vehicle ownership, it never gets easier. Especially if you want a nice car. 500-buck beaters m8. You can afford to NOT fix them(since fixing them will cost more than the car itself) rofl rofl rofl

I always get OEM parts if I'm replacing things that aren't related to enhancing performance. They cost more, but you get what you pay for. Seems that you would have actually saved more by biting the bullet and getting OEM in the first place. *Shakes fist at low-ball priced Chinese junk.*

Yeah, you're right. I usually go for OEM for all my parts, unless I'm buying something better, but I sourced the chinese replacement boot in 2 days, rather than having to wait over a week for the OEM. But in the long run I did end up making it a much longer process.
