Bard walked slowly over the packed dirt, keeping at a leisurely pace. As he thought, Lolicia had stopped movng, and now sat in one spot. Of course, she had to eventually. No one could run forever.

It didn't take much longer for him to find her. for some reason, she seemed to be slumped over in the sand, though he could tell she wasn't dead. She must have tired herself out with all that running, and simply decided to rest right there, though he had no idea why. He continued walking for a few minutes, eventually coming to rest on a medium-sized dune, where he sat down. He couldn't just leave her out here, could he?

Aerial ran into the cave, and plopped the groceries on the table. Running was even better than flying, and there was a time she'd given up her wings and powers just to be a creature of the earth. But there were more important matters now.

"Lolicia's resting in the sands; she'll be back later." Her voice sounded even lower in the cave, messed with by the area's acoustics.

As calmly as she could, she explained about the humans' new weapon, but did not voice any of her personal fears.

The cold-hearted elemental's expression softened slightly as she saw Lilith. This child had been dragged into a war she knew nothing about. Her life was on the line as well. Why on Earth did the mother and the child allow themselves to be put on this death row? Was there really no other choice left for their kind?

This had always perplexed Aerial, but she kept her mouth shut.

"I think there's actual meat for dinner tonight. I don''t know what else is in there though... It all looks so different from what I'm used to."

Aerial knew next to nothing about city life, but she did know you needed money to buy things. Soon, some of them would have to risk getting jobs, or she would have to being going shopping and creating the illusion of money.

Aerial rubbed her throat, dreading her death. They were screwed either way, unless someone had a better idea.

after a short nap Aulacard dug in his bag, pulling out a small pair of binoculars and a small leather bag. He carefully opened the bag, pulled out a strip of dried meat and resealed the bag.

'concidering what this meat is, its kept me going for a very long time, and it has a rather interesting flavor to it. yet i cant figure out why a feral wyvern would be blood lust, or clear out here in the waste lands.'

he put the strip of meat in his mouth, and it began to melt in his mouth
' ~.~ soo good, at least its better that stale bread.'

he then rolled out of from under the makshift tent and looked over the dune in the direction of the cave that he came across. he looked through the binoculars, and made a few adjustments to see clearer, he noticed that someone was making there way toward the cave, and that they were carrying something, yet they were to far away to find out anything more.

' i think i should be fine here for the night, so long as i dont start a fire, or move past the dune. but i think i will move away from the tent a little ways, just in case.'

he went back into the tent, put the binoculars back, and grabed his bowstaff and made his way out of the tent for the remainder of the night.

Lolicia could feel bard near her. She knew she could get up at any time, and should do it at some point. But her head was in the dust, and her body felt like part of the destroyed and dying landscape. Despite the dying feeling all around her, it was sort of enjoyable, to feel like part of it. It gave her a wild and free feeling, knowing she could sail the world before she sunk into the sea.

Behind the cloth over the left side of her face, something pricked in the darkness.

There was something about that man. . .

Not only that, but somewhere along her run, she had inhaled, and whiffednot a scent of this false magic, but something real.

There was a dragon in the city.

Lolicia sighed, and started to gather her courage, pushing herself out of the dirt, and out of the rays of the sun.

"You better get home, and find away to get the s**t out of your face." she sighed to herself. Her existence was miserable, but she still found it satisfying.

Across this barren world...

Kira woke up with a start. 'Crap.. I fell asleep' She got up and looked around, it was already night.

's**t I have to work tonight!'
She sprinted towards the city, flying across the sand. 'Crap crap crap crap cra-'

'SHUT UP! You're driving me crazy with your ******** chanting. Who cares if your late one day?'

'This would be the fourth time. The manager will be up my a** if it happens again'

'Stupid humans. You should just kill them all'

'If it were possible I would have' Kira entered the city and ran through the streets before coming upon Stiletto St ((XD)).

On the corner there was a dingy restaurant called the Greasy Fork. She opened the door and headed for the back. Coming into the kitchen she carefully avoided stepping on the rats that scampered around the floor.

She was heading for the stoves when a tall woman walked in and slammed her fist on the counter.

"You're late again. What did I tell you last time?! You useless dog! I pay you a good wage and what do I get? A lazy bum who is always late and slacks off during work!"

Kira watched with an apathetic look. The woman was Betsy, her manger and the owner of the restaurant. She hated Kira and only kept her around for one reason: she could cook.

"I'm sorry and it won't happen again. Happy? Can I go do my job now?" Kira ground out wonder why she didn't just kill them all. Who knew, maybe split personalities could give good advice.

Betsy steamed before stomping out and shouting "You better work hard today or you're fired!"

'Humans are so troublesome'
She sighed and walked to the front flipping the sigh to 'Open' before searching the fridge for food to make the meals today.

She was one of three cooks that worked there. And the only one that could cook good food. She worked four days a week from 4am to 2pm. The pay was horrible and wasn't even enough to pay her rent. She usually found other part-time jobs to get enough money for that and food but she hadn't been able to find any recently.

'Man, why does she have to open the store at 4 in the morning? It's not like anyone ever comes in this early...' She absently started chopping vegetables as she glared out the window at the few people walking by.

Who walks with me?

There he sat on one of the boulders from a avalanched dirt hill, he would stare at the dirt, that was covered with the blood of the human bandits that tried to attack him for his treasures, "foolish humans," he would then stare up at the sky, "this land is as dead as these fools, haha...how wonderful, the stench of death always brings a sence of warmth to my heart haha...less nuisances to deal with," he would stand up and close his eyes, "not even the wind is alive here but, whats this? something...," he would quickly open up his eyes and turn towards the west, "I sence a Ka'Kari, ehehe well what do ya know something worth looking for in this dead land after all, hehe maybe I'll have some fun this time around," he would start walking off towards the west.

((Ugh. Noob post -_-))

"Tell me something." He asked as he approached to the young woman with fake right/left eye, her back facing him. "Can you tell me any characteristics of that man, the one who diminished your disguise magic." He asked as he came closer.

"I'll pay you depending on how well the information I receive." he would hold his bag of money, flaunting it abit infront of her, hoping it would get her attention.

Aulacard made his way to a dead tree that was slant in the ground and sat at its base to lean agenst it. He began to recall the events with the wyvern encounter a month ago, he was making his way out of the southern mountain pass when he herd an unusual sound, unmistakeable as it sent shivers down his spine, when he turned in the sounds direction he saw two wyvern in the middle of an aireal fight. Aulacard could tell that one was mortally wounded, as every manuver it made, he could see a shower of blood fall from it.

'Be it a dark day when dragon kin have too kill one another for mear survival' he wispered to himself.

the battle between the two lasted at least half an hour, each wyvern excanging leathal blows. unfortunatly, aulacard, could only watch in absolute shock at the ferosity, and mesmerized by the grace of the manuvers the wyvern preformed, that he failed to relize the fight was directly above him. aulacard was shaken from his daze when one of the wyvern landed ten feet from him.

'OH SHI...' was all aulacard could muster before the other wyvern slamed into the fallen one to make the killing blow. after a few bites of the neck the remaining wyvern finally noticed aulacard, and aulacard aware of the fine perdicament he allowed himself to fall into readied himself for an absoluly futial attempt for survival.

Aulacard droped his pack to allow himself to move freely, the wyvern shifted its weight to strike, he grabed his staff, twisted the center grip and hit the ground firmly, allowing a razor sharp spike to extrude from the top as he himself moved into a position that would let him to launch himself forward with all of his might, it hissed at him and snapped its jaws..... they launched at eachother with great force....

Aulacard found himself under the wyvern, how he was not sure, but he knew it was dead, for his staff was impailed half way into its chest and he heard nothing from within its chest. He began a futile attemp to free himself from the underside of the beast, try as he might with as much strenght as he cound muster he failed.

'great... i barely get started and im going to die under a blasted wyvern. i can just see it now, the tombstone will read "our last hope for survival, sent to find any element's to join our hidden village, crushed under a feral" that'll be wonderfull......YOU SUCK ....... ... YOU PIECE OF .... FERAL.'

after venting his anguish, aulacard began to get in the mindset to meditate, so that he could set his body into a form of hibernation that would allow him to survive a minimum on three weeks in any given circumstance.

just then the weight bearing him down began to shift and roll off of him.
shocked, he shed the meditation and began to look around, astonished, all he could do was stare at the other wyvern as it pushed the other off him.

'I could have sworn it was done fore. wait why the hell am i just sitting here in amazment, it probbably wants to eat a recently tenderized hum....'
His thoughts were cut short by a presence other than his own

'I have no intention of eating humans, i find them bitter, and ther is hardly any meat on there bones, i prefere a nice happy cow'

Aulacard now free from under the dead wyverns carcase, looked at the other wyvern, it could barely keep its head up let alone move around
'Who are you?'

'I am one of the last faithfull to the dragons of old.' it replied.

he kneeled in front of the great beast 'thank you for releasing me from undernieth the other, i know i cannot do much, but is there anything i can to? to repay you?'

its eyes now locked on to aulacard, began to shift colors rappidly 'I.. i have seen you before in one of my slumbers, am i correct in that you are on a quest. a quest to find elements for the survival of the eternal city?'

he could feel that the great beast was searching his mind, a gift all true dragon kin had for many generation, a gift that was lost when dragon kin went feral, which drove them into a great rage. Aulacard respectfully took to a knee as a sign of respect, and opend his mind to allow free access to his entire being. 'yes, yes i am.'

after a short time the wyvern left aulacards mind 'I see the council has made a wise decision to have chosen you as a candidate...' it paused as it shuddered from its pain and blood loss 'You will do well out here in this unforgiving land, there is little you dont already know, but i can bestow a gift to you, under two conditions.'

bewildered aulacerd looked back at the wyvern 'what are your terms great wyvern?'

'One, you remain diligent in your search for the elements... survive, and help thoes who are in true need, you will be able to tell the diffrence with part of the gift that i will bestow upon you.' it looked around weakely.
'as i have looked into your being, i can safely see no inkling of greed, or desire for power within you. i will have this last request for you, as you can tell i will die, my time is very short indeed, the reason i was attacked, was due to the greed of this feral. it was after an element which i hold within me, it is a lesser element, but still powerfull enough to draw atention to me, it has been slumbering for some time now, when it will awaken it anybodys guess.' it lay its head down for the last time, but not before rolling to its side.
'to get to it, i will help you, also i have digested a considerable amount of items off pack mules and caravan cows, make use of it. no come closer to where i can see you.'
aulacard moved in front of the wyvern to where it could see him clearly, it asked him to move closer, as he moved within arms reach of the great beasts eyes his mind was flooded with, as far as he could tell a bunch of pretty colors for what seemed like hours, then nothing.

when Aulacarde awoke he vomited for his head felt like it had been split several times over. all he was capable of doing for the remainder of the night was retch in pain.

by the time the sun rose, aulacard was able to move about slowly without falling over from his 'perverbial mind screw' as he put it.
he made his way around to the belly of the now lifless body, it had been split open and its contents lay on the ground. he would have retched again if there was anything left in his stomach to heave up. after several minutes of digging, he came across 3 saddles, 2 saddle pads, a ox yoke, several leather strips thought to be for the harnesses and leads, a rather plain traveling pack in unusual good quality considering..., bones of variouse cattle, and a silver canteene.

'well most of this stuff is absolutely useless, almost all of the leather is shredded or half digested. but the traveling pack and the canteen i think are useable.'

covered in the innerds of the wyvern he looked around for any source of water to clean up in, as luck would have it there was a small lake not 3 minutes from him,

"thank you, great wyvern for your generosity." he sayd with a praying bow
'but there is still some neccesities i must attend to, what remains will be burned.'

he then looked around for any sharp objects and rememberd his staff lodged in the others chest, and after a great effort he mannaged to remove it.
"you can rot in hell, feral"
and he began to "make use" of the remaints of the greater wyvern...

he remembered the canteen and went back to his tent and dug in the traveling pack, that had held an outworldly suprize for him. what seemeingly looked like a regular pack on the outside, when he first opened it and looked to see what, if anything, it contained...nothing.

'huh, and i was thinking there would have been at least.... wait a minute.'

he reached into the bag, its lining was clean and clear of anything, including vile from the wyverns stomach. as he reached in to inspect the bottom of the bag he nearly had a heart attack as he fell into a void.
his other hand held on to the edge of the bag, but from whithin he could see the vast space within.

'huh! who knew the wyvern ate a wizards pack mule and his magic bag, this is amazing, if i dont get stuck in it that is.'

after looking into the bag he found the canteen, he opend the lid and peered inside, but there was nothing within it. he then looked at its surface,
its design was simple, yet elagent, of water dropplets at random intervals.
'I suppose this is the element the wyvern spoke of, but they did mention it was sleeping? there is still so much i dont know, i know i learned great amount from the sages in the hidden village, or eternal city? uh... my head is still throbbing from that so called gift.'

with his head spinning he decided to sleep some more, this time he fell into a deep sleep, something he hadent done since the second night after receveing the gift. his mind filled with more immages of the great war, of the world before the plauge, and of the legendarys, who he had read about in the great many books in the village. his body broke out into a cold sweat, and he rolled continuously, before resting on top of the canteen, his sweat pouring off of him dripped into the canteen.

the canteen began to glow soft blue for several minutes, then it began to fluxuate from dark blue to teal, and as it did this, water began to pour from its opening, first as a steady drip up to a steady stream, doing so all the while under aulacard.

Lolicia stared.

"He's a bulky man. . . bald. . . muscled. . . and his eyes just see through you."

She looked the stranger over, and coating herself in layers upon layers of magic, she covered up the dust and sealed her false appearance again and again, hoping that it would last.

"Why don't you come with me, and we'll go see him again." She smirked. The city was NOT going to get the better of her. She was more than just a child.

As he walked towards the west more bandits would aproach him on horses.

"YOU, ARE YOU THE ONE WHO KILLED MY MEN? ANSWER NOW OR DIE!!!"

Urufu would slowly turn his head with a stare of a killers intant, "so what if I did?"

The bandit leader took out his weapon and mounted off the horse, his
would mount off after there leaders bring out there weapons, "so we have
awise guy huh, do you think you can take all of us at once? I bet your
wetting your pants right now boy."

Urufu would start to laugh and quickly pause, "do you honestly think I would fear a pathetic human like you, you think I would fear you because of your numbers," his eyes opened up wide and glowed blood red, "you stupid fools 1000 or 1 million it doesnt matter your numbers, your all like small little insects that need to be squashed," his hair started to flairing slowly, and lift his arm up opening his palm his hand started to tremble suddenly turning pitch black.

The bandits started to feel uneasy and started trembleling with fear the bandit leader tried to talk them into not running away but as blackish, mixed with purple energy started radiating from his hand, they ran leaving the horses.

"Pathetic humans HAHAHA," Urufu with some of his hair covering one eye and the other still glowing blood red, stood infront of a blood pool and limbs of the bandits.

Amid the twisted thorns....

Serenae looked at Ariel for a steady 3 minutes, gauging her reaction, before responding.
"So the humans got a new toy? It's nothing to be concerned about. There is old magic in this place. It keeps them away from here. They're scared that remnants of the plague are still in this cave, which it very well might be."
"Of course, they could just bomb this entire place," Serenae added with a grin. Still, her arms tightened unconsciously around the sleeping child in her arms. Humans were truly despicable creatures if they wanted to harm a four year old girl. Elemental or not, it was bordering insanity.
"Did Lolicia buy dried meat like I told her too?" Serenae said, changing the subject in an attempt to soothe the frazzled elemental. What she didn't seem to understand, was how humans would search through the city long before they would look out here. They wouldn't come out here to look for them when they could be safe and warm in their little city.
Just so long as we aren't there, Serenae thought to herself bitterly.

Bard stood up, dusting the dirt and dust from his clothes. It seemed Lolicia had decided to wake up, so he was no longer needed. After all, she could take care of herself, and he wasn't her guardian or anything.

Bard started walking off into the wasteland, seeming to have no purpose except to contemplate his own thoughts. He looked towards the sky as the sun started to fall, casting the world into an ominous twilight. Still, Bard walked on. He walked and walked, until he came to what appeared to be a large group of jagged rocks, but not quite a mountain or cliff. It was here that he started climbing. It wasn't a long climb, only fifty feet or so. Once at the top, Bard had a great view of the rest of the wastelands. The sight of it filled him with sadness. Where was the enjoyment, the life? Hell, there wasn't even any variety, just dirt as far as he could see.

Bard reached into his pocket, one of the few on his vest, and pulled out a small flute in two pieces. He stuck the two pieces, and then placed the flute just under his lips, and started to blow. The flute produced a sweet sound, filling the air with pure, clean notes. Slowly, the notes started to change, rising and falling in a slow, rhythmic pattern. Before too long, it had evolved into a slow, smooth song, sounding somehow at the same time joyful and full of sorrow. The music spread for miles, filling the air in such a way it was difficult to trace. The music itself seemed to grow in purity, loosing no tone or purity over distance, and filled the air with it's beautiful sounds. Those able to see magic would have an even more amazing sight, as the sound brought with it a giant mix of colors floating in the air, slowly pulsing and changing with the music, all flowing seemlessly together, making it nigh impossible to pinpoint it's origins. Somehow, despite the presence of only one instrument, different parts and notes started to appear, giving the music a full body only achievable when one has multiple instruments and performers. And so, for the time, the sounds of Bard's playing could be heard for miles across the wasteland.....
