A Fetus is not a Parasite!
If two people that just so happened to be of the opposite sex and have intercourse, and pregnancy is not a risk in mind there is something wrong there.
There are plenty of contraceptives that are readily available for anyone to get and use. Abortion should not be used as a contraceptive.

i am pro life.i believe that even if you are not planing for a baby you still should not take away a life that has not yet begon.there is always the safe haven program which is a goverment program where you can drop off a child of any age under 18 and they will be put in foster care untill they are adopted.you can find the program at most hospitals.and i must urge you please if you are haveing a baby and not planing for it please do not kill or harm it in any way.the best you can do for yourself and your unborn child is to give them the gift of life and then turn them over if you cannot take care of it your child will eventualy find a nice safe home where they can be taken care of and kept safe.also there are programs where you can keep in touch with your child as it grows up.so please consider this if you ever have to think of abortion there is always anouther way.

Pro-Choice.

I know several people who have had an abortion (all of them only had 1). Those children would have had horrible lives had they not been aborted, and personally I feel that it is better that way. I have the viewpoint that death is peace, and therefore death is not a bad thing. This goes along with my view that you will not be allowed to die unless you have fulfilled your purpose, whatever it may be.

Quote:

Abortion Story:
My friend's neighbor who was in the military. He proceeded to get her very drunk and then have sex with her. They used a condom, however he had purposely poked a hole in it. She then got pregnant. His reasoning was that he wanted to get her pregnant, because then she would have to marry him and he would get more money from the government. ******** up? Yes. Aborted child? Yes. She was 18, her mother was dying of cancer, and she was about to become homeless.

As well, those people that I know that have had abortions have told me that they don't think they could ever get another one again because it is hard on the body and the mind.

And as for the adoption issue:
A friend of the family wanted to adopt several children from the US, but since she already had a biological child she was not allowed to. Therefore she went overseas, and about every three years they adopt another child from Korea. Adopting children from the US is harder than it should be, and is very expensive. It is often cheaper and easier to adopt a child from overseas, which is still expensive.

Personally I don't know if I could ever had an abortion until I was faced with the issue. I would always like to have the option though.

I have two opinion on this.

Pro-abortion. There are too many starving kids in this world as it is, why bring another into this hell-hole?

Anti-abortion. If she's willing to screw around, she has to take responsibility for her actions. The only exception is if she was raped.

eep. I'm often pretty opinionated, but I find this issue really difficult. Both sides have really strong arguments and whenever I'm starting to lean to one side i read something that flips me back towards the other. It's also hard because every situation is so different.

So I guess I'm kind of neutral on the issue, but not in an indifferent way- just uncertain.

Goddamnit. *sigh* My view on this is 2-sided.

Pro-choice: If the mother was raped and got pregnant, then she has the right to chose not to have the baby, the incident was not her choice and the baby might remind her of that night/day and influence negative feelings about the baby.

Pro-life: If it's some rich girl who was "just fooling around" with her bf then she, and her bf, needs has to take responsibility, and there are many teen-pregnancy/pre-marital groups that they can go to.

In a nut shell Pro-choice is the way to go. If you don't want to have an abortion then don't, but don't rob that freedom from someone else.

P.S. We live in America, "The land of the free", we have the freedom to chose what we do or do not want. (This point doesn't really work if you live in another country though....)

I'm in the middle on this one sweatdrop

If a woman does not want a pregnancy than they should have the option to abort, but if a woman does not want a child than there is adoption.

There are many reasons why a woman would not want to go through a pregnancy and I think that if forced to, they could suffer from emotional and psychological issues as a result. I'd rather the woman's psychological well-being be saved rather than a fetus before the middle of the 2nd trimester, that is.

but if a woman does not want a child than there is adoption.

I totally forgot to put adoption in my little reply, so here it is:

Sure you can put the child up for adoption, but look at how many kids there are already. These orphanages are taking up way to much money. I'm not saying I hate orphanages, but don't add to the numbers. And besides that the adoption system if not a very nice place to be for a child, sometimes they are constantly moving from house to house, and as far as I have seen, very rarely have they found a good home first time, also the process of adoption is very difficult on the parents that are trying to adopt. My school bus driver has tried to adopt like 3 times before she got a child.

I am pro-choice because for myself, there is nothing in the world that disgusts me more than the concept of pregnancy, childbirth and childrearing. However, I am not about to deny myself sexual satisfaction for that. I refuse, under any circumstances, to ever gestate a pregnancy for anyone at any time. If I ever do get pregnant, I will get an abortion or die trying.

I also take great offense to the phrases "spread your legs" and "screwing around". As if rampant promiscuity is the only way a female can get pregnant without wanting to.

I like to think of it this way, if there is a woman who has always dreamed of having children, gets pregnant, loves it, relishes it and then is suddenly forced to abort it then it's understood that she will be traumatized by the ordeal, right? What about the other side? The woman who has never wanted kids, never wanted to get pregnant finds herself so and is forced to gestate it. I think it's just as damaging and just as unfair.

Childbearing is not an obligation, it is a choice. No fetus "deserves" to live, every woman has the right to govern her own bodily functions.

I believe if we get rid of legal abortions, there should be compensation for the women who don't want to bring a child to term. Why should the government force a woman to keep a child then just leave her without any way to raise that child?

By the way, I'll ignore any person on here who uses words like "soul" in this debate. The idea of having a soul is a belief that cannot be proven or even have a singular definition so should not be used in a debate.

Pro-choice
Who am I to tell someone else what to do?
I don't know their sercumstances or their reasons for making the choices that they make.
For me to say pro-life, would be me saying that I give up migh right to use the intelegence I've been given to deduce a proper responce to a problem.
Wow big words I'm getting tired lol

I am pro abortion.

There. Now that that is out of the way I will explain why. Now don't go and get your knickers in a knot, I don't think everyone should go and kill all the babies, I think it should be an option.

There are many good reasons why someone should have an abortion. Adoption houses are full to the max now and often foster parents beat and abuse their foster kids. Thats not even the worst of it.

"Statistics show that only one out of ten orphans becomes a functional member of society. The others are lost to drugs, crime and suicide."

You may be asking why I am talking about foster homes, I am because many mothers who are forced to carry their infants to term but have considered an abortion were considering an abortion for good reasons. What if that mother is uncapable to care for this child? What if it was a incident of rape, and the child is unwanted? What if birth would hinder the mothers ability to survive the childbirth itself? What if the child is going to be born with a disease such a trisomy 13, and suffer a short misarable life?

Pro lifer's often belive that it is better for the child to live in a foster home, miserable and questioning as to why "mommy didn't love me", than to abort the child. Ask any pro life supporter. They will tell you that the child comes first, before the mother and before even the childs own happiness, because they "know what is best" or because it was "gods will".

Adding a bit of my personal life into the story I tell you that my mother has a stable gene for Trisomy 13. A gentic disease effecting the 13th chromosome. She had several miscarriages before giving birth to a child with Trisomy 13. She had to suffer watching her little girl live in pain for only a month and then bury her own young infant. She tells me now that if she had known, she would have had an abortion, as not to suffer or make the child suffer.

Having said this I must say that I don't belive in abortion in all situations.

Take a 16 year old girl who likes to sleep around. One day she forgets the pills and before she knows it she's pregent. This does not give her the right to abort the child because she was , for lack of a better word, a whore. She should not take the life of a child because she ruined her own.

I must also include that a BABY is not a BABY untill it is born. While it is still in the womb it is a FETUS. Abortion is not murdering a baby, don't be stupid.

And so on

The world is immensly over populated with the human species now. Keeping one more unwanted child out of this mess can only be for the best.

I am against animal testing, strongly against it. What does animals testing have to due with abortion? I will tell you.

Scientists know that it is possiable to take fetuses that have been aborted and test products on them. If your going to abort the little suckers you might as well put them to good use, no? Testing on aborted fetuses, mind you I said FETUSES, not BABIES, can put an end to the grossly inhumane ways of testing people now use. Honestly, which is more similar to a human, a rat, or a human fetus?

Think about this as well. The majority of people in power who are agianst abortion are old, republican MEN. I highly recommend they get their male republican views OUT of MY uterus. When they birth a child, their opinon will matter.

Furthermore abortion, no matter the situation, should be legal. Last time I checked this was the US, a democracy, not fascist nation beating the common people into submission with their laws, dominating the human body and free will itself.

this is the same response I give to all abortion topics >.<

One of my best friends was raped and impregnated by her own brother when she was 14.

In that case, it's absolutely necessary.

I wouldn't get an abortion, but I don't care if other people do.

ReRe_is_sweet
I think people should have the option of abortion, only because it would be worse to have the baby and then have it suffer before it dies.
However, I personally think that if you could find someone to adopt it then you defiantly should give this small, almost child the gift of life.
I would not force someone in either direction, but personally I would have the kid.I don't know If I will say the same thing 5 years down the road, but that's what I'm thinking now.

This is exactly where i stand on the decision.

I'm a mix of pro-choice and not.
I think a rape victim should not have to go through with having a child since it wasn't their fault. Or if having the child would put their own, and the baby's life in jeopardy. Or, even worse, if the baby would be born with a horrible painful disease that would cause them to have to lead a painful and short life.
On the other hand, a 17 year-old girl should not be allowed to go and carelessly abort a child becuase she had sex with some guy.
Why should the government force mothers to have children they can't care for, or won't?
Sure, some may say, "An orphanage would be fine!" But one of my best friends is a foster child. He can't call anyone, get online, do anything outside of the home except go to school. He's talked to me before and told me, "I'm 16, I'm still not adopted, nobody wants me, nobody cares about me, and no one is going to help me yet the government expects me to just go out into the world and do whatever?" Afterwards, I didn't know what to say.
NOW, I'm NOT saying my friend should have been aborted, that's wrong and sick to think about. His mother should not have been allowed to leave him in foster care and forget about him.
If you're curious on who this friend is and question his existance, his name is David, he goes to my school, he's a year older than me and a very sweet person.
Well, I've put in my part, and I don't know which is better, pro or not.
You can form whatever opinion from what I've said.
