If there are no guns, how would the crime rate go up? Criminals using knives or bats? If someone has a knife, you can run away. That is unless you are a member of the obese majority of Americans. I knife can't shoot you in the back if you are running. How many people do you know who can throw a knife properly and accurately?
Katrina and New Orleans? God did not "send" the hurricane because of one sinful city. If that really is the case, why hasn't Las Vegas been leveled to the ground yet? It was a natural occurrence, because God would not let believers be killed too. But they did die. Christian and non christian alike perished with their children in the hurricane.
I believe that the real problem started 8 years ago, with the beginning of Bush's first term. Does anyone here know why we are in Iraq?

The whole reason why we are in Irag is to try to put an end to terrorism. Now mind you, terrorism will never be stopped.
As far as God not sending the hurricane, I believe that He did send it to get people's attention. Just because Las Vegas hasn't been affected yet, doesn't mean it won't happen. God is perfect and has perfect timing for just about anything. It is sad to say that both Christian and non Christians have to perish for the sins of many.
If there were no guns, criminals would still find a way to get one. If you see a gun just sitting on a table, will it kill you just sitting there? Guns don't kill by themselves alone. If guns alone by themselves kill people, then pens alone by themselves mis-spell words. A person who has a very evil and wicked heart with the intent to kill uses a gun for that purpose.
If an intruder came into my home that was not invited intending to do physical harm to me and my family, I would not have remorse in using a gun and shooting that person. That is my right to protect myself and my family. That is the right that is being taken away.

The right is not being taken away, it is just trying to control things more so guns don't get into the wrong hands. I still believe guns should be banned, but I know that criminals would find a way to procure them. By making the requirements more strict for one to be able to own a gun, it would keep it out of the hands of those who buy them just to commit crimes. What I think makes sense is to not sell a gun to anyone who has a criminal record.
How do we connect Iraq and terrorism to 911? Or does no one remember that was what started this mess. There were NO Iraqis who helped to orchestrate the 911 tragedy. If we want to end terrorism, we need to go into AFGHANISTAN to destroy Osama bin Ladin and the Taliban.
Then again, the Bush administration only talks about Osama when its convenient for them.

You say that trying to control things more as far as guns are concerned will stop the criminals from getting their hands on a gun. As I see it, if the government takes control of us purchasing guns, etc, then we are no better than a communist country. A communist country DOES NOT allow their citizens to have any rights whatsoever. It doesn't matter how strict the requirements are in purchasing a gun. People will lie just to get what they want.
As far as Iraq, Sadam Hussein was considered to be a dictator. As far as I am concerned most Arab nations who hate America not only because we support the Jews but because of our beliefs and what they know about this country are terrorists. Anyone's whose religion says that they will go to heaven by strapping a bomb on them and killing innocent people is an outright lie.

dude have you heard of black markets or smugglers if u take away guns thats how criminals will get them now about not selling them to criminals THEY DONT when you purchase a gun you have to wait about 10 - 15 days before you can pick it up and im talking from personal experience do you know part of the reason you have to wait that long because they check your criminal background to see if giving you a weapon would be a good idea but if you havent purchased one i wouldn't expect you to know that and about the taliban they arenot the onlt terrorist group in the world i think bush did a good job as president and God wouldn't do that yeah he would the christians who died there look at it this way lots wife was told not to look back to those cities wat happened she looked back and turned into a pillar of salt those people were told to leave new orleans they chose to stay so i believe they are the reason of there own deaths

I know they do a background check. I mean that if someone has ANY criminal record, or has psychologist reports of mental instability or mood swings, they should not be given a gun. And why would I want to purchase a gun?
The Taliban is not the only terrorist group, but Al Queda is in Afghanistan too. Shouldn't our duty as Americans first be to take down Osama and Al Queda?
As far as Bush being president: He's an incompetent, self centered, arrogant, and militaristic dolt. He threw away human lives when he sent troops to Iraq, and had no exit strategy at all. He's also never once given help to the refugees in Sudan and the genocide there.
So because they couldn't get out, its their own fault they are dead? I hope you can hear what you are saying because God did not "Tell" anyone there was going to be a hurricane. Those who lived in New Orleans were used to storms and harsh weather, and there were often hyped up hurricanes that turned out only to be storms. There is no blame needed to be cast, all that should have happened was the government doing more to help the victims.
Before this continues, I just want to remind everyone that we are all christians and we all love God and He loves us. We all want peace, love, and faith to sweep the world. I just thought it needed to be brought up that we are all still brothers and sisters in Christ.

All I can say is that not everyone is a "Christian". There are people out there who are "wolves" in sheep's clothing. They talk, walk and act like a Christian but when it comes down to asking them about where they will spend all eternity and they come back saying it's not of your business and get angry, then I would say that that person is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Anyone who is truely born again would not get angry and would be very happy to tell them what Jesus did for them. Yes, God does love us and He is a God of love but you forget one thing, that He also is a God of wrath and He will pour out His righteous judgment on all those who HAVE NOT ACCEPTED HIS SON AS THEIR SAVIOR. The Bible says for us to be aware of those who are saying peace peace. When we see or hear that, then we as Christians know that our time here on this earth is short and Jesus' second coming to take away those not only the ones who have died and gone on before but all those who are still alive and have Jesus in their heart up to heaven to be with Him for all eternity.
As long as Satan still has freedom to roam this earth, there will never be peace, love and faith. That won't happen until Jesus comes back to reign on the earth for 1,000,000 years. Then at that time, there will be total peace, total love and total faith but not before.
As far as Osama is concerned. What do you think we have been doing throughout Bush's administration? We have been trying to locate him but he is one who has inadvertantly hid himself and cannot be located.
As far as for Bush, he is not an incompetent, self center, arrogant and militaristic dolt. He has been one the best presidents this country has had. Remember 9/11? Just because you don't hear about the refugees in sudan and the genocide there, doesn't mean that he hasn't done anything about it.
Here is a verse for you to think about. Eccl. 10:2, "A wise man's heart is at his right hand but a fools heart at his left."

I recommend us getting off the topic of Bush, because it only ends up pissing both sides off in the end.
Question: Did your verse make a referance as to your opinion regarding right wing and left wing? Because if you did, God did not prefer one over the other. Each has its merits and faults.

As far as sin and Satan, what hand or side is always represented? It usually is always the left hand. As far as being right or godly, what hand or side is always represented? It usually is always the right hand.

I think thats kinda low...comparing left wing to satan and sin... I mean, sure you may not agree with that viewpoint, but that doesn't make it "Satan's group"

You say we should get rid of alcohol, but keep guns... And you argue the reason for it is that its a constitutional right.
The right to obtain and consume alcohol is a constitutional right as well. I just don't see the logic of taking away a bottle and putting a gun in the hand instead.
Granted, I dislike alcohol and I don't drink. I know it ruins families, but not all. Its a constitutional right.

Have you thought about this? It is something to think about it. There are more deaths across America related to alcohol than guns. In a car accident where a driver was driving under the influence, 9x's out of 10 the drunk driver rarely gets hurt or killed, it's usually the innocent driver of the other car that gets hurt or killed. Now, tell me that that doesn't ruin a home? Drinking can cause a lot of people to do stupid & dumb things. Not only that, a person can go into a fit a rage and do damage as well such as beating their children or wife or anybody in general. Not only that it impairs the brain and causes a person not to think clearly.
Maybe, you should go live in a communist country and have all your rights taken away. In a communist country, you have to abide by what the government tells you. If you don't, you will get thrown into prison and possibly even tortured. Some people should do that. Then, they wouldn't complain about the rights we do have in this country.

Look: CALM DOWN
I'm not complaining about our rights, I am complaining about the repercussions of those rights.
In such an issue like this, remain civil to one another, or I will lock this thread. I know I am more liberal and open minded in terms of issues than anyone here, or so I believe. Therefore, I ask that you not disparage me just because you know everyone will join you as you team up on me.
I'm still christian, I still am here, and most of you know who I am. So please, don't just team up on me.
