Sephirob Mine is no poster. It is the weapon I wield, the mainstay of my arsenal that plays beyond compare. The axe I shred upon! whee Dean guitars, followed swiftly by Gibsons, are the greatest power in the universe. If I were the Pirate King, I'd have my Razorback V in one hand and my Gibson gothic explorer in the other. The universe would be mine for the taking. blaugh twisted mrgreen Okay Michael Angelo Batio!

hehe MAB is cool. A little too flashy, and a his tunes are only about finger acrobatics and lacking in endearing song writing... I listen to his stuff but once in a blue moon, and then only if its with video... he's only about the technique, he's not terribly fun to listen to casually...
I'm more in the vein of the death metal soloists. Ralph Santolla (my fav), Michael Amott, Trey Azagthoth, and so forth. wink

Okay, I'm gonna say ******** all of them (partially because I'm not familiar with any of their music) because I'd rather listen to my dad play.... when he does. Or Otto, but his hands are all swollen so it hurts him to play as well. Oh, and I'm partial to Bonnie Raitt, but she's not much of a technical player.
Al DiMeola rocks my socks off for what I've heard of his, so he wins!

Uncultured... gonk Thank you for your judgement. I equally think if you can't appreciate something in the composition of a real metal solo, the scale selection, the key changes, the hooks and carefully arranged picking and accents, then your own tastes are rather suspect. Soo nya :XP:
I find jazz boring, along with a lot of other mainstream music. I like my music extreme. I like even more when it displays razor-sharp guitar technique. However, it is just my taste. It's not that jazz or anything else is any less valid a form of music, it just does nothing for me, as I'm sure my favorites do nothing for most of everyone else. If I sounded derisive, that wasn't exactly what I meant.
My point of contention was not that any aforementioned musicians were not good, and not "this genre is better than that genre," etc, but that comparing highly technical guitarists to ones who will certainly not be known for their technical prowess but instead for just their songwriting, is much akin to bringing a knife to a gunfight.
And another topic derailed. Back to FL/CL since were wildly astray. pirate yarr.
On that note, I always felt bad for the guy with no eyebrows...

Just... seems like I am one of the very few that enjoy watching the Allman Brothers. They rock my sox off.
