User ImageAfter exiting the museum, Oual had to start up his cruiser. The traffic pulled aside easily for the chief detective to pass. Times like those made Oual thankful for the invention of sirens. But all he saw was James Cross enter the school. By the time he’d parked, exited his vehicle, and gotten there himself, he knew Cross would be out of his sight. So, with a better idea than chasing the three robbers (seeing has Cross had that one down), Oual headed straight for DUHS’s main office. Bursting through the doors to the room, he shouted at the principal (whose nametag dubbed him Mr. Bruno Wilhelm).

“I am Ames Oual, Chief Detective of the DPD! At the moment, there are three burgalers somewhere in your school possessing items of value from the Museum of Really Rather Recent Stuff. I’m placing your school under lockdown, effective immediately.”

The principal just shot him a strange look before nodding and announcing into the loudspeaker. “This is principal Bruno Wilhelm. The school is being placed under lockdown immediately by order of the DPD. There are intruders in the building. This is not a drill. I repeat, this is NOT a drill. Report to the classroom nearest to you immediately.”

Oual nodded a brief thank-you to the man before seizing the loudspeaker himself. “James Cross, this is Chief Detective Oual. I know you are in here. Report to the main office.”

User ImageThe announcement echoed loudly over the noise of all the students in the hall. A surge of panic swept the room as Austin thought, My uncle’s here? He scanned the area quickly, figuring out that the nearest classroom was were Mr. Attomos taught Chemistry. Every now and then, Austin and his friends would call him Einstein behind his back because of the way looked… minus the lack of moustache. But despite all the wackiness, Mr. Attomos wasn’t a bad guy, so Austin headed that way with a beckoning notion towards Penelope, Josh, and Rowena. It seemed most of the students were going that way anyways.

Seeing the police officer offering his help in the crazed crowd, Austin said, “You might want to catch these intruders. Don’t worry about the hallway fights just yet!”

He followed the crowd into the currently empty Science Lab B, wondering how all of this would play out, trying not to let fear get to him. The police force was here already. No, even more, his uncle was here. It was a simple intrusion, something a teacher could’ve handled. Right?

User ImageLindsay promptly swore a blue streak upon hearing the announcement. As if this crap wasn't enough, there are three robbers in the school and we have to move!? THIS. IS. RIDICULOUS. Only in Delmor!!! Lindsay thought, anger rising inside of her, Not to mention that I should probably go on and do my duty as The Charge... I hate this so much! I'm probably, even though the Islandinsula is likely packed with teen heroes, the only one who will do anything as a heroine. 'Oh, yes, Lindsay Morris just left to go to the bathroom. Hey, look, it's The Charge!' I can just hear it now if I do that. Even an idiot could put two and two together. Bah, what to do, what to do...

All Lindsay wanted to do was get out of the school by then... thanks to the lockdown, that was not possible.

"What do we do about Cait? Should we keep trying to make sure she doesn't die or something or move her, THEN keep trying?" Lindsay asked, faint tones of irritation and impatience making their way into the question.

For someone who had dealt with minor criminals before, the thought of three burglars inside DUHS on the worst possible morning for this to happen should have been okay. Sadly, this was not the case.

User ImageUser ImageUser ImageAfter the police officer left as suddenly as he came, Jay turned to Lindsay and Rebecca "Help me carry her into Science B! Let's lay her on one of the lab benches." Jay shouted into the rush entering Science B, "Please get out of the way. Would someone please clear off a lab bench for us?" Cait was starting to wake up slowly, but she still needed to be careful. Jay sighed, this was turning out to be the least ordinary morning they'd ever seen at DUHS. At least Dr. Attomos would be there, he was her mentor. She hoped to follow in his footsteps one day. He would know what to do.

Rowena batted her eyes at Austin and smiled, "If everyone else turned on me, you'd still be here, right? You'd help me wouldn't you?" She knew she was cute. She knew everyone else though she was cute. She was not above using that to her advantage.

Unfortunately, Rowena's adorableness was shortlived because the Principal was blaring on the intercom that there were intruders and everyone needed to go into lockdown. When Austin motioned to her to follow him into Science B, she did. She'd have to finish her argument later.

User ImageLindsay nodded then helped lift and carry Cait to Science B. At least that answered that question.

"Which lab bench should we take her to? I see a few of them that are clear enough for what we need to do," Lindsay asked, simply trying to help out without being too obtrusive.

Oh, great. DO NOT tell me that I see Rowena coming in here too! Lindsay thought with a silent groan. This was most definitely a recipe for trouble. Add on top of that the fact that The Charge would likely be able to help if necessary, whether or not Lindsay wanted to do hero business, and Lindsay was ready to scream with frustration. This was not turning out to be a very good morning for Lindsay, that much was certain.

Character Start

Matt was sitting in Science B minding his own business when the students came in carrying what looked like another one. He think he recognized one or two of them from around but he really didn't know their names. He hadn't been in town very long so he really didn't know anyones name. "Hey, do you guys need something?" he dully asked. Normally he wouldn't get involved but he kinda wanted to know what was happening. When one of the other kids in the class cleared a spot, in a terrible way Matt might add, he sighed thinking of something minimal he could do but he really didn't know what was going on so he didn't come up with much.

User ImageUser ImageUser ImageJay followed over to where Austin was clearing off desks and put Cait down. "Thanks Lindsay! Lets put her down right here. Go take a breather, you look worried. We're going to be Ok, the police are here, which means Cait is out of danger. She isn't going to die. If you want to keep helping, keep pressure on her nose. We've got to stop the bleeding. I'm going to see if I can find Dr. Attomos....And some ice... Oh! And keep her feet elevated! It'll help her come around faster." Jay rambled on and on and out the door, just to met by Dr. Attomos returning. Luckily for everyone in the room, he was carrying an iced tea. it didn't have enough caffeine for Cait, but it was still ice. "Thank you Doctor!" Jay said and grabbed the tea from his hand. He'd forgive her. She ran over to Cait and put the cup next to her nose. She was getting black eyes, her nose was definately broken. Jay put herself in between Cait and Rowena. Now they just had to make some peace since they were going to be locked down in the room god knows how long...

"Austin, you should know why I would hit her..." Rowena paused and leaned forward a little to show off some cleavage, expecting some recognition instead of spelling her reasons out, "The b***h needed to learn her lesson. She needed to learn respect." Rowena crossed her arms and pouted, expecting to receive some sympathy. She leaned against another lab bench and looked over at Cait. "And from where I'm sitting, It looks like the b***h got exactly what she deserved."

User Image Rebecca nodded and followed in case she needed to help carry the unconcious girl to the benches... fortunately one of the other students had the initiative to clear a space for them to lay her down. Rebecca took notice of the blaring announcement, of course--intruders? What?!--but gave no outward sign that she had heard. Nor did she pay any attention to Rowena's antics.

There were a few once-living things sitting in formaldehyde jars... a dead mouse stirred, almost imperceptibly as Rebecca walked by. Rebecca nearly started at the sight, but told herself that it was obviously just a trick of the light.

She moved away as the doctor arrived, and quietly eavesdropped on Rowena's conversation as she tried to ignore the dead things in jars. "Of course," Rebecca said quietly as she watched the doctor tend to the broken-nosed girl. "I can feel my regard for you rising by the second..." Whether Rowena heard or not Rebecca didn't really care--she was barely thinking about the fact that she was speaking aloud. Between the commotion from the fight, the announcement... and the jars... she was starting to feel a little stressed.

User Image"You're welcome... I've got to admit, I'm just a bit stressed right now... This is obviously not the best morning," Lindsay explained after she finished helping move Cait, "But I think I'll be fine."

After saying this, Lindsay shot a cold glare at Rowena rambling on about respect and then found quite a few chemistry textbooks to prop Cait's feet up with. There was clearly no way that Lindsay could do anything as The Charge because she could not leave the classroom, but instead stood there watching the chaos being formed around her.

Suddenly, an idea struck Lindsay. She'd have to be quite discreet about it and she had no idea if she could even do this, but if it would help Cait wake up and eliminate one of the many problems in the Science B room, well, anything was better than nothing. Lindsay pulled one of the few open chairs up to the lab bench, sat down, and sat there quietly, one hand hidden between her body, two sides of the lab bench, and the bottom lip of a drawer. She really hoped this would work... What was there to lose? Oh. That's right. A lot.

User ImageOne moment, Josh feared the wrath of a spoiled rich girl and the next: CHAOS! The verbal showdown was instantly forgotten as lock down was announced. The circle instantly dissolved inward separating Josh and Penelope in a sea of people.

User Image"Josh! Where'd you go?" Penelope search through the crowd, but it was difficult to move with everyone knocking her back and forth. She pushed past a crowd of screaming freshmen to get to where Josh had been moments before. Suddenly someone crashed into her and they both dropped to the floor.

Meanwhile, Josh had reacted to the drill by immediately looking for the closest room before reaching for Penelope's hand. By then, however, the crowd had already overtaken them and Josh was carried away by the flow. Digging in his heels, he pushed through the mob. He got more moment than he expected however, and crashed headlong into someone. He went down hard, taking the person with him. Upon landing, he took a quick survey of his injuries: nothing severe, though his hand seemed to have landed on something soft. Checking to see what it was, he suddenly turned beet red.

"Oh my God, Penelope, I am so sorry," He drew his hand back like lightning, leaving the startled and also quite red Penelope speechless for a moment.

"It's...fine..." Penelope managed, taking a moment to regain her composure as the crowd finally thinned. "Help me up, the science labs are just round the corner." They slid into Science B just as Mr. Attomos was locking the door and Rowena was displaying all her usual tact.

"Oh, just give it a rest, Rowena," Josh sighed, still avoiding eye contact with Penelope.

Matt turned towards Rowena when she started talking. She's really sticking out in my mind... hmm... Oh! Doesn't she have something to do with the fencing team? he thought like himself. Honestly she drew the eye but that seemed like about it, whatever. It seemed like a ton of people had come into the room and it was getting kinda crowded so he decided to leave. He quietly walked out into the hall and walked towards where he thought the bathroom was. He had thought wrong and managed to find a broom closet. So he turned around and found it the second time with minimal looking. He went in and washed his face. It wasn't that it was dirty it was just that it was a good way to focus and with all the chaos thats what he needed to do.

User Image"It’s cool I uh… I guess. As long as you don’t hit every b***h you see," Lindsay heard, as her attention snapped from trying to charge simply her hand to Austin Aires. A small spark had, however, appeared at Lindsay's fingertip, and this might be enough to maybe shock Cait into waking up. Just as she raised her hand enough out of its hiding place to try to shock Cait, her hand brushed against the metal knob on the lab bench drawer.

"Ouch! Dammit!" Lindsay exclaimed as she shook her finger just a bit in pain, not too loudly, but enough to possibly get one or two stares. "Sorry, static electricity. It must've built up a bit from sliding into the chair..." Lindsay covered. Thankfully, since the charge built up wasn't much more than the strength of a rather strong jolt of static electricity, it was enough of a cover to get everyone to go back to ignoring her.

There goes plan A... and I'm definitely not trying plan B. And the NERVE of that Austin Aires. I'm not close to Cait, but I can at least say that she is NOT a b***h. Rowena's obviously the b***h here, she's the one who started this whole fight mess! Lindsay thought, positively radiating irritation. Hopefully, people just thought it was because she had gotten shocked. She was not in the mood to get b***h-slapped if Rowena thought the irritation was in her direction.

User ImageWhile most of the students evacuated to classrooms, James made his way to the main office. He had wanted to help the girl who was bleeding, probably from some stupid fight, but this was a lot more important. Still, he felt bad and wished that there was something he could have done to help her. The Chief Detective of the Delmor Police Department was here. What could that mean?

He saw the Chief as he drew closer to the office. Everybody, even the staff, seemed to be in lock down. The only person that wasn't was the secretary, whom was a man with scruffy red hair who was typing away at his computer. James said, "I would get to safety if I were you. This is not a drill sir," as he walked by the man and directly to Chief Oual. James saluted and said in a shaky voice, "Sir! I came as soon as I could. There are three armed men and I think they are still somewhere in the building! We need to find them stat! They took off their black masks and shirts and seem to have blended into the crowd pretending to belong to the school! They could be anywhere..."

User Image“Yeah, yeah,” Oual hastily repeated the salute, calling it off. He hadn’t even noticed the secretary come in. The staff had left as soon as the lockdown was ordered. He must have come back through a side door in the office. But it wasn’t important. The cops were both in there. The secretary was safe enough, and probably working on getting some other kind of help. Regardless, Oual was more concerned with young James Cross.

“Ah, Cross. I asked Grayden to call down someone to guard the museum. He sends a sophomore who wound up chasing them straight into the high school! I came to check on your first day on duty, and I get wrapped up in this? Don’t think I appreciate it, Cross. If you had been thinking straight, you would have known that the proper thing to do was to lockdown the museum and try to capture them in there! But you let it get so out of hand! There was no way I could have reasonably talked to the people in the front desk, not with the shooting! Damnit, Cross! How’d it escalate to guns anyway? My only move was to come down here to find you and ask you what you would have done if this whole thing was a just a distraction for a much larger crime at the museum? Luckily for you, I called one officer down from duty to take your post on my way here! He can’t stay up there long, though. You know damned well that these public disturbances they handle don’t stop themselves!” Oual took a breath.

“I will not clean up your mess! You are going to call for reinforcements here, and when they arrive, you will leave back to your real post at the museum and call my perfectly capable officer to more important duties! Do I make myself clear?”
