"You are good at it." He noted, shifting his grip on the light sabre slightly, still stinging from her first attack. He needed to be careful with her, but if it wasn't for the burns, he'd almost welcome the chance to do this again in the future.
"I bet..." He raised his sabre slightly, considering his next move. "Someday people will probably tell stories about Jiri Yim right along side Ganner." He promised.
He could hear the fountain, but was waiting for her to use it to brace her feet with, or to trip him into it, which she might if she side stepped in a rush.
They were even right now, but that could change fast.
"Lets do our best."
If he ended up in the fountain, so be it, he might be able to use the sound of the fountain to cover his movement, but that depended how much of her attention was on sound and how much was her awareness of the force.

"Like how I died valiantly in battle, taking ten thousand enemies with me?" asked Jiri, momentarily thrown off guard. She understood the sentiment and was sure he hadn't meant it that way but... it was still a weird thing to say. She paid for her distraction when he was able to land a hit on her forearm.
"Gah!" she exclaimed, surprised and hurt, and gritted her teeth. Other people hurting you wasn't like doing it to yourself.
"One-Two," she said, pushing out with the force. There he was! She thought she saw an opening. She swung for his shoulder.

"Or maybe how you lived, how you were a Jedi of legend." He offered back, flinching in guilt at the sound of pain. He felt the flicker of her reaching out, which was like being brought full circle to their first lessons. He reacted with a surprised jolt, not really left with the time to consider this particular little amazing revelation, swinging for her attacking arm and hand, his slight noise giving his surprise away.

Jiri tightened her grip against the recoil as their blades met. Somehow he'd known she was there! And then she made a dumb mistake - she tried to pull away but misjudged the physics of it and how much strength was still behind his blade, and got a nice set of singed knuckles to show for it.
She pulled back a bit to re-evaluate her strategy.
"One-Three," she said, going on the defensive.

He drew back himself, surprised at his unexpected success, but feeling a faint thrill of exhilaration from his success at tyeing the lessons, end to end. How amazing...how incredible.
He was half tempted to pull up his blind fold just to check, but didn't.
"Are you alright?" He asked, reaching out cautiously with his own powers to check on her... and on her position. He didn't see the harm in trying to sort out both at once.

Jiri felt his prodding against her senses - so that was how he'd done it! She'd never thought her own strategy could be giving her away!
"I'm fine," she replied, steadying her grip. All the lightsabers did was shock you and give you a light burn. It wasn't like you could get seriously hurt from the light sparring they were doing. It was, however, embarrassing. She'd been doing very well with the lessons until now. Perhaps in Korvo she had found her match.
She felt anger and embarrassment rising in her throat, but swallowed it back down. She couldn't use her emotions here - you had to be calm if you were to fight as a Jeedai. She took a deep breath, sure Korvo was still not moving out of concern for her, and closed in on him. She swung again - he would see how he'd pay for his concern!

It was a very effective lesson against pausing in the middle of battle was an effective one, her sudden move catching him unexpectedly, when he'd half expected her to be nursing her new burn. A foolish assumption he had to admit, something some of the other students might have done, but definitely not Jiri, who was probably now bound and determined to end his lead.
Unfortunately his attempts to get out of the way didn't entirely help his situation, leaving him with an sharp rap upside the ear from Jiri's lightsabre, which wasn't entirely helped much by the faint smell of slightly scorched hair. Fortunately it didn't seem so much like his head was on fire, more like it would probably have been if he'd had an unfortunate run in with some sort of freakish hair stylist. ...
Well. Closer than his encounters with Tu.
Another important lesson: Do something about his hair before fighting with people.
"Ow!" he expressed in surprised, immediately even more embarrassed by being the first one to have said it, in such uncertain terms. "Heh. Um. Two three."

Jiri hoped she hadn't hurt him too badly. If she could see, she'd take more time to aim her strikes, but right now she was closing in on him. She couldn't stop and let him seal the gap between his score and the finish. He'd be hesitant now that he was hurt - she was learning that about her opponents. While pain didn't bother her so much, others weren't quite so unaffected.
She quickly repositioned her lightsaber and her footing, pulsed out with the force to make sure he hadn't moved too far, and swung again. She would tie them yet!

She was correct on that count, catching him by surprise again across the chest as he tried to react while surprised and stinging, which made him gasp in surprise before he was able to muster resistance out of his mental scatter of control, feeling half force blind as he fought with an burst of stubborn pride to keep his own lead, raising his blade to try and force her back, as much with force as any even remote sense of grace or tactics.
"Three, Th-ree!" he quoted the score as he attacked.
They couldn't all have been flukes, his early scores. Surely they couldn't? He refused to loose without trying, even to an opponent like Jiri.

Tied! Jiri grinned under her blindfold and drew back. if the fight was to be fair, she had to give Korvo a chance to attack. Schoolyard ethics for schoolyard brawls - she knew that a real opponent would always press the attack and such behavior would be difficult, but this was an exercise and Korov was her friend. She needed practice blocking as much as she needed practice attacking.
So, she took a few steps back, coming closer to the fountain than she would like, but found she had been distracted too long by her thoughts of victory. Korvo had launched an attack, and while her movement had so far allowed her to avoid it, now she was in no position to defend against it, nor to begin moving away. His saber glanced off her side.
"Nng," she grunted. "Three-four."
Mentally scolding herself for her cockiness, she moved into a more easily defendable position and held her saber at the ready. She sensed him close by - there!
She swung to attack.

Korvo was already swinging again something he'd feel foolish over later, since blocking wasn't as much in his head as keeping his tenuous leg up. They were close to the fountain again, he was... fairly sure anyway. He wasn't paying as much attention to it as he was to her.
He didn't even pause to apologize this time. They could apologize after, when he knew how he measured up against her, which would be something at least, since she was apprentice and he wasn't...yet.

Korvo's attack caught Jiri across the chest as she tried to move back to avoid it. Alas, she was pressed up against the rim of the fountain and the attack had merely pushed her off balance.
"Ahh!" she exclaimed in surprise, flailing for anything that might steady her fall - she caught something she thought might have been Korvo's wrist, but it was too late to stop her. Jiri tumbled into the fountain, dragging the Kiffar boy in behind her.
"Three-five," she said wetly, pushing her dripping blindfold off her eyes.

"WAGH!"
It was probably the least dignified of trainings the courtyard had seen for some time... possibly with the exception of accidentally hitting himself with the balls they were supposed to levitate, falling front first into the fountain after Jiri, sputtering as he lifted himself back up, fumbling for his own blindfold.
"....Wait. I won?? Really??"

After the two younglings were done with there practice a light laugh and a clapping of hands came from behind a pillar. There seemed to have been some one watching their session and suppressing his force just enough for the children to not notice his presence until now.
A mirialan male glided out from behind the pillar. His face was mysterious, calculating, but it seemed kind enough. He was wearing ornate traditional robes of his people. I had various adornments and embroidery work. Such intraquite designs usually were reserved for noble females of most races however the mirialans had very unique designs that seemed to intrigue most onlookers for both men and women.
He had green skin wither darker green diamond tattoos trailing down his left eye and around his wrists.
"Wonderful show younglings." He said with a smile as he approached the fountain. As he got closer the metallic cylinder at his waist came into view, he was carrying a light saber.
"However may I suggest practice on the force jump, it will save you from getting so soggy in future sessions." He said taking his hands out from his robe sleeves and offered one to each Korvo and Jiri.

Jiri took the offered hand and pulled herself out of the fountain. She glanced at Korvo and then looked pointedly at the knight.
"We haven't learned that lesson yet," she said, wringing water out of her hair. She kicked off her boots and turned them over, dumping copious amounts of water out of them onto the pavement. At least, she decided, it was warm out today.
