Minilife103 On that note, in the book Dragonsblood, it says that Dragons are not Fully grown until 18 months, that is when they reach there maximum growth... and Queens dont have a mating flight until two turns I am almost certain... So how are we going to do that?I take that back, it took Three turns for that queen to mate... I believe that the fact that they are considered fully mature at 18 months is mentioned in "The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern" as well. I also seem to remember that Ramoth had her first flight during her second Turn (in "Dragonflight"), though I seem to remember seeing reference to queen's rising for their first mating flight somewhere from the time they're 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 Turns of age. I can't remember where, though...... I'll have a look at my horde tonight.

maybe ann made exceptions when the need arose
In dragons blood the queen rose at three turns, there where more dragons(before the sickness) so no need to rise earlyer
dragon flight at two, there where less dragons and the need for more, so she rose earlyer.
so the between two and three is a good surmise...
the problem in that is, its still at least one turn after we time jump
in any case, if we only jump to the 1st turn age, the candidates will STILL have to wait, and we STILL dont have a weyrleader.
I just wanted to point it out...

As for Dragons Blood... that was written by Todd McCaffrey. He doesn't always... stick to canon (there are no hawks on Pern, Todd. -_-). Anyways, I'd go off info from Ann's books over info from Todd's.
Bah, I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm going from memory. I'd say these are questions to PM Lumiere about.

I know that Todd doesnt do exactly what Ann did, but she did over see his writing... Its not like he wrote these without telling her.
o.O where are hawks mentioned? I must have missed that...*browses books*

The hawk was in "Dragon's Fire", another of Todd's books. My problem with "Dragonsblood" was that he had made Wind Blossom out to be Kitty Ping's daughter, when it's stated in "Dragonsdawn" that she's her granddaughter. I also notice that he has a habit of giving out perfectly good dragons, firelizards, and whers...... and then make the ones who got them lose them again.... but somehow they always end up happier in the end.

sweatdrop I was planning on having the golds rise about a month separate, at two turns of age. Of course, I've never run a game in pern before, so the real-life-to-game-time scheduling is a bit hard for me. I'm sure I'll get better at it as time passes. However, I'll go ahead and say this: If I get back to school (late august) and we haven't gotten far enough for a mating flight for Leniearth, then I can certainly have us do another time skip.
As it is, though, we're only staying at times about two weeks. (End of July, btw, we'll be heading directly to age 1yr or age 18mos, for flying lessons and the earliest thread-fighting.)
So, I think we should have a mating flight by mid august.

I know it's sort of early to tell but are there going to be more whites? D: I noticed another candidate character asking for one.
I'm hoping not, because Ruth was one of a kind and it would be so weird having more than one white.

In the past I've used 1 real time month = a season in RP time. That means 1 Turn goes by in 4 months. However, that might be a little slow while we're small(ish), but time jumps fix that problem.
Anne has plenty of contradictions across her books too, so of coarse Todd's books are going to have a few things that previously weren't right. I've never really caught these mess ups, but then, it's been awhile since I've read the books. The Dragon Lover's Guide can be even worse than Todd's books, in my opinion. I bought it but it wasn't written by Anne (or Todd for that matter) so I try not to go by what it says most of the time. A lot of the online guides are better.
Mrawr, sorry for being lame and not posting a lot. August is going to be busy for me. This is the exact reason I retired from being a Weyrwoman. Sometimes I go *poof!* crying

Eep... I still dont know what bronze I like... But by mid august I should... So far the only one to actually talk to Sevina is F'ris... and she is starting to enjoy bating him... So a warning, other bronze and brown riders, get a move on making friends... Sevina isnt too scary...lol I like to mix my mind with both todd and ann, because a few things she has just dont make sence and she couldnt very well change them, and some of the things he did where just o.O but if you combine them it works well... The guide I think was just someones way of making a buck on a well loved subject that they knew would make money, ether on Pern lovers or simply Dragon lovers.... *shrugs* In any case, I like this guild. Its fun. We need one more gold tho to have a queens wing. But that can wait I guess, thats one thing both ann and todd agreed on, to my knowlage, that a queens wing was three golds. But Im tired... And seriously sick of the pain... I have decided to create a miracle heal all pill and i will call it... The Pill...lol and sell the recipe for more zeros than I care to type with a one first... sigh, time to go take my pain pills and pass out tell the pee feeling drives me from bed...

I have a question, though. Does all interaction stick to the main thread or can we make little, personal threads that can be open or private? For example, a thread where Hedria's bathing Toliarth at the lake, or where O'zen gets into a fight, etc.
I would think that Queens would rise to fight thread regardless of whether there are three or not. I just can't see them saying "Oh dang, there's only two of us so I guess we CAN'T do our duty. Let's go play poker in on the Hatching Sands while everyone else fights." ... er, something like that. >_>
Though, if they couldn't make a wing, they could always do dragon rescue - like Torene did, in Chronicles of Pern: first fall.
and pain is absolutely no fun. at all. D: What happened?
