Loves_Hina i know, there is definentally way too much shonen-ai/yaoi. the other day i was at an anime convention and they had this big yaoi stand in the dealers room and in almost every other stand they had a box for yaoi, they were handing out things for a yaoi con and some big drawing thing but absolutely NO yuri, not even shonen-ai. i looked everywhere in the convention and not one even mention of anything shoujo-ai. But yah, i definentaly love negima, its an amazing manga. i love anything and everything by ken-akamatsu. Yuri doesn't really pull in the big bucks like Yaoi does. At Megacon there was a booth dedicated to both, but they advertised the yaoi over the yuri. I didn't even know there was yuri there until I told the man running the booth that I dislike yaoi when he kept trying to get me to come over, and said that I prefer yuri. In the end, I bought myself some Noir porn and was rather happy.

QueenxOfxYurixEku Yeah it is pritty sad that there is a big lack of shoujo ai in the world I mean i do enjoy a little shounen ai here and there to balance it out but more shoujo ai would definatly be better Haha definitely.
The way to do this? Buy more yuri and make a strong effort to support it. Because shounen-ai and yaoi have been such consistent moneymakers due to the high number of heterosexual females in the anime/manga fan community, these are big profit potentials for companies, and consequently are available quite widely. In contrast, there are much fewer heterosexual males and queer females who are buying yuri and shoujo-ai materials, which means companies are less willing to invest because it's more of a niche than a mainstream genre.
So, if we go out and buy a lot of yuri materials, licensed and raw, and show a big effort to support it, we should definitely be able to increase how profitable and popular these materials are. One of the goals of organizations like Yuricon, if I remember right. :3
Sooo definitely go check out titles in our Pocky Shop subforum and all, and if you can, buy the anime/manga and support the artists and companies behind these works. The more profit we can make them, the more willing people will be willing to invest time and resources into making us more yuri!

Lolita Kitsu The Last Uniform First Love Sisters Kashimashi * Strawberry Panic * Tetragrammaton Labyrinth All of these are Yuri... and all of these are being translated into English and sold in book stores. (The ones with a star are ones I've actually read... xD I've only flipped through or heard of the others...) As for anime, however... I know that both Strawberry Panic and kashimashi have an anime adaption. :3 (The Kashimashi series is sold, with subtitles only, by Anime Works. I don't own any Strawberry Panic.) I have the completed series Strawberry Panic and Kashimashi on my pc. I also have the manga Volume 1 Strawberry Panic and I want to go get Volume 2 this weekend.

Adding a few titles to your list: Voiceful Blue Iono-sama Fanatics Kannazuki no Miko S.S. Astro Maka-Maka (hentai) Rica'tte Kanji? Works Yuri Monogatari (an anthology is fine, too) Suzunari These manga series all have varying amounts of yuri in them. As for anime, Media Blasters has also released Simoun, RightStuf is releasing Maria Watches Over Us/ Maria-Sama ga Miteru, FUNimation is putting out a Nanoha boxset in a few months, and Toei is putting Pretty Cure up for cheap downloads. There's a handful of other series I'm tempted to list, but those fall more into fan speculation-type yuri.

I think the most annoying thing is that there actually ARE a lot of shoujo-ai and yuri manga/anime series, except they're all in Japanese and very few have actually been licensed for production in English crying . It's like you go to random sites (eg Okazu) and they flaunt all these titles but they're not actually available to buy sad .
Anywho, a few titles: Strawberry Panic (absolute all time favourite anime of mine) Kannazuki no Miko Simoun Revolutionary Girl Utena Candy Boy (although apparently that's a bit incestuous) Sailor Moon (only with sailors Neptune and Uranus, i think) Gentleman's Alliance has a tiny tiny tiny bit... Hayate X Blade Kuchibiru Tameiki Sakurairo (absolute undisputed overall favourite manga of mine. ever. seriously. read it! gogogo!!) Maria-sama ga miteru
there was also apparently some Kannazuki no miko ripoff, but i can't recall the title.
Hope that helps anyone who needs ideas...
PS: none of them are hentai -.-

PS: none of them are hentai -.- I keep finding myself responding to Vergere, did that on the intro's thread, too! Anyhoo... the one related to Kannazuki that you're thinking of is done by the same artist and studio, but he basically cheated and just re-used character designs (and sometimes even full on characters) from his other series-s and put them into a new story line universe. Sort of like a fantasy au world, so some personalities are different even though they are the same character. My sister watched that series. It's...full of drama. However, for the ChikanexHimiko loving fans out there, the artist did basically reuse the designs, complete with the crescent moon theme for Chikane, only her name was changed to Kaon, (they left Himiko's name alone and basically just added glasses to her face), and didn't make Kaon quite so....angsty as Chikane was in KnM. The series for those interested is called Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora (Kyoshiro of the Endless Sky), and though Kaon and Himiko aren't the main charas, they get almost a whole episode or two together with the main girl, Kuu, as well as the fun little dvd shorts that were added as extras on the dvd releases which we haven't gotten in the US yet. They're cute, especially in the 4th extra scene at the hotsprings. A must see for ChikanexHimiko lovers, I think.

You're right. I will tell my boyfriend that I need more yuri anime and that he can watch it with me. We watched kashimashi together. I didn't think it was very good... the ending was displeasing to me but I will not say why to avoid spoilers.
I want good yuri though. Like Utena, but sweeter and cuter.

What did you dislike about the ending? Warning! Spoilers ahead I thought it ended nicely with Hazumu and Yasuna getting together, but I don't care for the unofficial ending where she marries her best friend. I felt like the whole anime was about her making up her mind and just when she finally did so, they went and flipped it on us! Though it was cute that she got to be a bride ^^ [/spoilers]

*cough*spoiler*cough* That is exactly why I disliked it! I felt that by making a special that had her change her mind Hazumu got the best of both relationships without losing the friendship of either. I was always a supporter of her being with her best friend though because I wondered if Hazumu had only stayed with Yasuna because of her illness. And THEN it was all: "Oh, well, I need to do this on my own but thanks for ditching your true love for me for no reason!" GAH!!!! scream (/spoiler)

There are actually new Yuri manga sprouting from artists in Japan, although it still won't compensate for the 2 pages of yuri compared to the 14+ pages of Yaoi on Mangafox. stare I guess it helps, but come on! We only get one shots often for heaven's sake! I think though that probably most girls read/watch it for the pr0n... And not the so called "Oh, because its story is sweet!" reason. I mean, come on... Straight girls like guys, especially hot ones. I don't really think they would mind much if the story was totally run of the mill, yet has lots o' disco sticks. xd
Anyways, that's my opinion. Feel free to try to convince me otherwise, but if you're going to biAtch about it... Screw your attempts.
