Ha! Not to late!
Well, one thing, protect that voice! Stop your dairy intake until after your audition (creates flem), no unessecary screaming or straining, drink tea like crazy, etc.
If you got a song to reherse or know what play your doing (and have the cd to it), then listen and practice that.
Before your audition, do some warm-up vocals. Scales and such. It is very improtant to tune the instrument...
Hm...anything I missed?

Either drink tea (duh), or eat icecream, iced coffee, etc (things to cool down your throat). Coughdrops are your best friend!

*bows in utter submission* Thank you, thank you and thank you. You saved our opening night and the three performances after that. And the cast party, now that I think about it. I can't speak now to save my life, but I was able to perform. Gracias, Grazie, Merci, Danke, σας ευχαριστούμε, 너를 감사하십시요, Obrigado, ありがとう, вы, 谢谢 and thank YOU!

I don't do many medleys or musicals and I'm thinking about auditioning for one. Any advice on song choice for the auditions?

toxicpinkk I don't do many medleys or musicals and I'm thinking about auditioning for one. Any advice on song choice for the auditions? Maybe go to our audition song forum? We've got some there you could look at. Some musical directors also have osngs already preset for you to sing, so check in with that before you go through all of that.

If you're performing a tragedy like King Lear, you don't want to audition with "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" from Monty Python.

Um, my recommendation also.
NEVER EVER EVER use a song from the same show.
Example?
You're auditioning for Grease and you sing "Freddy My Love" BAD.
Oh, and if you have a specific part you want to go for then you want to act exactly like that sort of person when you audition.
For example, for Once Upon a Mattress, if you want the part of Winnifred, the princess, who is a very...loud person, you want to act that way when you're reading off a script or if you're singing ^^

*sighs*
Well, I was going to go out for our program's cabaret company, but when my friend and I tried to practice our duet, we figured out we needed much more time than we had (a week). We decided to just audition next year, but then today (a day before the audition) she said we should audition anyway but with solos instead of the duet. We were going to do "What Is This Feeling?" from Wicked, and she's trying to talk me into doing "I'm Not That Girl." I decided that since I know the song and can fake it and that the worst that could happen is that I could end up doing what I was planning to in the second place that I would go for it.
This isn't much of a Help Me! ... more of an endless rant. But I feel better. I'm a little bleeeeeh!!! because auditions are tomorrow... EEK!
This could either be an amazing miracle or a horrible disaster...

I'm struggling with crying in the show. I can't do the whole "feel the character's pain" thing I usually do because, well, this character isn't part of the action enough. That's kind of the point. My character, who dosen't have a just cause to grieve, is bawling while the character who's world just ended isn't. Contrast. But that makes it almost impossible for me! I also only have about twenty seconds backstage before that scene and I have a costume change. Anybody have any special little tricks to start crying fast?

Dark Sweetie I can't stick to a weight-loss program. I'm not really fat, but I really want to get even thinner. It's just that I can't seem to stick to any plan I make. Can someone help me figure out how to lose even more weight, so I'll be as thin as a soap opera star? Also, try drinking nothing but water for a couple weeks. Avoid sodas and juices with tons of sugar. I stopped drinking sodas and not only has my weight stayed right where I want it, I feel so much better!
